Most Esteemed One-Shot Contest Thread.

I don't know if I am too late for the vote ... But if not I vote MeanBeard , Shigeharu specifically if by character.

But.... Everyone's entries were wonderful.... I haven't Been around since the contest started... So theses were really stunning to see all at once.
Nice!

My vote goes to NeclordX's genderbend of some really famous Japanese warrior that I don't recognize because I don't know shit about Japanese history. All I know is that it's one of the most daring and innovative reinventions of the samurai trope I've ever seen on the forums.

I was initially turned off by the over-saturated colors, but the more I paid attention, the more the design grew on me. The first thing you notice is that the helmet is cleverly executed, distinctly Japanese, and, most importantly, super dramatic. Next, color balance is masterfully executed. Every color is echoed somewhere throughout the body, yet the colors are spaced apart enough to still maintain a rhythm (i.e. avoids the jumpsuit syndrome). Emphasis is achieved with the red crescent, scarf, and weapon. Finally, the proportions are excellent. Some creators use pieces of equipment with little regard to item bulkiness or their creations' overall silhouettes, but this lady samurai is streamlined from head to toe. I'd only make two changes: lower the saturation and eliminate the pattern on the shin guards, maybe add some bump-mapping. But all in all, bravissimo.

Notable contenders:

1. Koko's Oichi and Orange's ladies are visually stunning, well researched, and well executed, but this challenge's focus was really supposed to be on the warriors, i.e. people trained and dressed to kill.

2. Orange's Takenaka's got a kickass helmet but a comparatively plain outfit and a really, really distracting shoulder wrap. This creation has a lot of potential though. I'd love to see a revision.

3. Meanbeard's Takenaka's got masterful execution, but it's realistic to a fault. He does have a fur motif and a nifty mustache, but other than that, it's an old man in a blue-grey uniform.

My vote goes for Orangeislands for her overall "realistic" desgins and specially for those ladies that couldn't be more japanese.

Kokoyoshi entries were awesome too, but I found them a bit too much focused on the Devil King series.

Special mention too for Onyyx Nobunaga, because you see him and it displays NOBUNAGA spirit from each one of its parts and colors.

Thank you for noticing that I tried to take a realistic route with it, it is most appreciated!

I guess this makes my very first win ever in any contest. I'm overjoyed yet dissatisfied. Dissatisfied because I'm a competitive perfectionist(to even pay attention to certain flaws of mine), but overjoyed because I normally feel my customs need more attention at times.

Still I guess I'll propose another theme. It starts today goes on until August 8th. On August 8th-10th we vote.

The theme is modern stereotypes in medieval times. Normally people should say piece of cake, because modern means stupid blonde cheerleader with some armor and such. However I'm gonna put a little challenge to this: No armor whatsoever. That means, no metal on peeps. Thief belt, cloth gauntlets, jewelry, and things of that nature are fine. Just no metal parts aside from the weapon they carry. Other than that, I could care what you make as long as you abide by that rule. Hope you guys have good imaginations. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Stereotype: The overtroped japanese girl, also known as the steampunk gothic android nekomimi maid schoolgirl swordmen with stripped stockings and strawberry underwear, she is also a zombie BTW

Oh I'll definitely be asking questions XD

Are Zipper Stickers allowed KokoYoshi? If they are, I have an entry I can submit tomorrow. If not, I'll have to re-design him... AGAIN...

The only thing that isn't permitted is full-on metal gauntlets, metal helmets, armor chest pieces, greaves and anything of that nature. Special equipment metal stuff, stickers and such is permitted. Basically, zippers are fine. What I'm looking for is people who can make anything without armor saving them in this theme. You can still still for instance, use cloth gauntlets since they're not metal.

NeclordX used chains for his biker, while his Japanese overall stereotype has a viola gauntlets with a claw which I can allow. Maybe I should compile a list of things you just can't use, just to ease people in. Just give me some time.

Thanks for clearing that up for me!

Wait, what's the challenge?

Here is my entry, the Highwayman.

iyBOtAUeddslI.png

"Thou dost have a mighty keen sack of gold..."

ibofRc8kLkbULu.png

"Thou should hand it over, if though dost not want to get cut with my stiletto."

iHWcexaMpQVub.png

"Dost thou want a portion of me? Come at me, brother!"

ixta8v4vdmjKo.png

"Not one person messes with the Gilded Griffins! I bet my comb on it!"

He then revs his horse and rides away to his favorite malt-ale shoppe, to meet his best girl.

(If this is too many pictures, I can cut it down.)

Hahaha 'Dost thou want a portion of me?' I saw what thou didst there! Lol. Thy highwayman is testimony to thy prodigious talent for CaS making!

We forgot to vote :( (unless we go by number of likes now?)

Anyway, if there's still time, I'll vote for The_Weasel's Fabrizio. He's really cool. Lots of nice little touches.
