NEW UK ENTRANT!

To the best of my knowledge, its still his main weakness, but I'm not too clued in on SCV Raphael - your best bet would be to check the Soul Arena. =)

Hey bud,

There's plenty of titbits to digest here (especially from A_o_T & Synraii's info.) I suggest getting used to the game's mechanics first with your initial character, just to get comfortable with things (Tier whoring can take place later.)

A key thing that everyone seems to have missed out is movement. Soul Calibur is very unique in this way, so make good use of 8 way running and stepping (even more so in V.)

Not much else to add, but to good times ahead. :)

Mage thanks for the link. most people seem happy with the changes he has thus far for Raphael so even more reason for me to start with him. After that I will let the dust settle and think about whether i switch or stick for the long term.

Tsubasa - i can see 8 way movement will take some gettinv used to.

This is true actually - I guess when its your main fighter you kind of take it for granted - I know I really miss it in Tekken and 2D fighters. =/

Wow - got to say really impressed with all the support to a new player - thanks.

Now to get some IV in so I am not completely overwhelmed come release of V.

characters have go to throws? From what I see in IV, Raphael would go to his B grab over his other grab for a ring out for example?

Yes exactly. This is the source of the mind games involved in the throw sub-game. You expect your opponent to go for certain throws in certain situations, but have to balance this with not giving away free damage.

Given your Avatar picture, would it be a bad guess to think you go by King og Hyrule on Neoempire?

Nooooo my carefully crafted secret identity has been torn from me
