Question for PS pad users

Since I got my ps3 I noticed the controller felt different than my ps2 controller. I didn't own the current ps2 controller(which is practically exactly like the ps3 pad) I owned the one that originally came out with the ps2 in 2000 or 2001. At first I thought it was just the R2 and L2 buttons since they are more like trigger buttons now but even the d-pad feels different. I have a much harder time doing inputs like 214, 236, 41236, all of which I had no trouble with in SC3 using the old controller. Kinda gets on my nerves cause it constantly causes me to screw up moves(particularly FOTD and Asura with Kilik) so I'm afraid to pull them out when it matters. I'm not saying these inputs are impossible just that I feel they are harder to do on a consistent basis(considering I used to do them on a consistent basis). I've tried using the analog but I don't find it comfortable switching back and forth. I know there are differences in buffering and some inputs have more strict timing in SC4 so I suppose that might be the problem but even in other games like Street fighter I've had this issue. Has anyone else had this issue? Has anyone tried using a original ps2 pad for SC4 does it feel better than the ps3 pad?

I like the D-pad. It's better than the analog stick, or god forbid, the 360 D-pad.

The only time I notice any imprecision is when I play online. Sometimes I have to change my timing for moves like Cassandra's 236B. Offline, however, it's fine.

I do play online but I hardly try to pull that stuff off online. I mostly try offline and it just isn't consistent even when I know I'm inputting it correctly.

It just what you're used to. When I first made the change I hated the PS3 D-pad, but now its fine and I cant use the older ones.

Maybe it is just what I'm used too cause I've used that old pad for years and I used to input stuff like that flawlessly. It's been a couple of months using the ps3 pad and it's gotten better but not nearly as good as it was on the ps2 pad. On that note do the original ps2 pads still exist, if so where can I find one? Also for anyone that uses converters is there any lag when using a ps2 pad on ps3? And just so I'm clear I mean the ORIGINAL styled ones not the current one which is exactly like the ps3 pad.

I just picked up GGXX Accent Core on PS2 and I can do all the inputs flawlessly and fast. Maybe I still haven't adapted to the PS3 controller.

PS2 pads are prone to random failure and suckage. PS3 pads maybe the same and I just have not been a victim yet.

I tend to notice D-pads get broken in after a while and work better than when they're new.

I really liked my PS1 controller, the really old original one without any analog sticks, it still works to this day and the D-pad feels nice and smooth.

When I got the PS3, the controller felt different. The L2 and R2 triggers are way longer and hang down farther, I accidentally press them a lot because of the way I play SC and Tekken (claw style) with the controller resting on my knee. Very annoying, that never happened on the PS1 or PS2 Dualshocks.

The D-pad also felt way stiff when it was new, but after a few months, it's broken in a bit and now it feels pretty smooth, like I expected. No complaints there.

My modded HRAP2 is still king for 2D fighters though.

I tried using my old radioshack psx to pc adapter, and it seems to work fine with SF2. Don't see any reason why it wouldn't be fine with sc4. Don't know if they still sell those but they were really cheap a few years ago.

.

My R2 or L2 was set to be A+B+K+G at first. That OMG occurs so often that I cannot concentrate on my fighting. It works quite satisfiable after being changed to A+K or B+G but is still mis-launched sometimes.

On d-pad, it's hard for me to do the quarters with it. Hence I turned to that analog stick. That sticks is okay for me and it's the only way that I'm able to carry out the command throws of Ivy. However, it's surprising that the sensibility of the controller drops significantly after being mistreated or thrown down accidentally. One of three of my SIXAXIS prevents me from executing CS after being thrown down accidentally more than five times.

I have a good amount of troubles doing any moves that involve or use 1 and 3 directions on my PS3 dpad. It seems that I have to press either down or left/right more than I am, and that really throws me off. The stick works fine, but I'm not an analog stick kinda guy.

The main thing I hate about using the analog is that I feel it's easy to input the wrong direction. I'm only comfortable using the analog for 214 or 236 I wouldn't dare try it a 41236 or reverse though. But still switching period affects my game play. Maybe after time they'll break in more and feel more comforatable.

I just bit the bullet and ordered the SCIV stick from amazon. It's amazing.

Your problem disappears when you own a stick.

I've actually tried using sticks in the past they're really not for me. When using a stick I feel completely disorienated but that's probably because I don't have a wealth of experience with it.

The PS3 pad and the buttons (especially the X button)] are ALL in need of breaking in before they really hit their best.

The first few weeks of using a PS3 pad with SCIV was annoying (I was letting a friend use my Dual Shock 2 + adaptor), but now I love it and everything is just as good as on a perfectly broken in PS1 or 2 pad.

I went out and bought the Hori Fighting Sticks for the PS3 and the 360 version. It took some time but I've found it to be the best investment I could make. The response time is beautiful, I can do Just moves much easier especially when a move calls for fastest input, and finally 63214 is a breeze. I know some of you may take some getting used to it but I gurantee it's it makes things easier. (Well for me and my room mate at least).

I have problems with 1 and 3 inputs too.

I can't tell you how many times I've tried to Guard Impact and crouch-ducked instead...
then ate a mid...
ugggggghhh.

I'm hoping it'll correct with practice.
