Real world weapons vs high fantasy and made up weapons

I've always thought that Sieg was compensating for something...

Well you know what they say about people with big swords? They probably have big hands

About dw8, a boat is bad and all, but someone fought with a BENCH. a literal bench. And one dude literally uses multiple flying swords. FLYING, TELEPATHIC FLOATY SWOORDS.
oh, and a fan that literally makes a magic meteor.

I think flying swords with specific attack patterns and a good idle stance would be a good look. It would have to be fancy and elegant so probably not what Virgil from DMC does.

I don't like it when Soul Calibur veers off completely from physical weapons that have a "real life logic" to them. Ivy's bladewhip, for example, is a great fantasy design despite being "unrealistic" and Siegfried with his ridiculous sized paddle of a sword is visually striking.

But Algol and Viola and other characters like that break too many laws of physics for my taste and would never have made it into the game if I was in control of the game's design philosophy. Even Necrid in SC2 was a bit silly, but at least there's no danger of him ever coming back.
