SCV is most likely the best SoulCalibur game ever!

[10] Knight
It has awesome characters like Ezio, Tira, Mitsurugi, Nightmare etc.

It has an awesome Critical Edge system which is very useful in battle.

It has the best story mode in all SC games even though it is cheesy.

It has no arcade endings but it has different routes which offers replayability.

The gameplay is most likely equal to SC1. I suck at it but it is still fun to play.

I don't think it's the best game but it's certainly not bad. :) It's my third favorite Soul game. My list goes...
1. Soul Calibur 3
2. Soul Calibur 2
3. Soul Calibur 5
4. Soul Calibur 1 (Never owned it, played in arcade)
5. Soul Calibur 4 (Least Favorite honestly)

But yeah, Soul Calibur 5, while definitely rushed, isn't all that bad.
-The character creation is amazing
-The music is very good, much better then IV's music (Love Raphael's theme!)
-Introduced two unique weapon styles (Zwei & Viola though I have seen a character use a style similar to Viola in a game called Samurai Showdown but that was a 2D game so it's cool to see a 3D take on it)
-IMO, Tira is much more cooler then she already was. In SCIV, she was kind of annoying but in SCV, she is just too damn awesome.
-The Guest Character Ezio fits in just nicely and doesn't clash with the main casts aesthetically (*coughstarwarscough*), plus he's fun to play as.

Yeah, I think the game was well worth the money in my opinion. But if they had more time and didn't rush at the end, it would have been even more mind blowing!

1st) SCV.. It's SC on crack! This game, above all else, encourages aggressive playstyle, which I like very much.
2nd) sc4. Much better than sc3, despite all that it's missing fro sc3.
3rd) sc3. Lots of characters, lots of single player modes, many new characters from sc2, improved mechanics from sc2 (except VC)
4th) sc2. Fast, good balance, but lacks depth.

I guess I'm one of those people that like each new game more than the last. I honestly believe that SC made vast improvements over the years, despite some features or mechanics going away, such as while landing moves.

Anything before sc2, I have no clue because I didn't start playing until late 2003.

i do not own it yet but from what i have seen i will more than likely put my list like this:
SCIII
SCII
SCV
SCIV
mostly because i prefer the offline stuff compared to online...

You, my friend, are begging, pleading and CRYING OUT for trolls XD
But yes, SC5 looks fun :3 I'll even cash in on the 'gimmicky' supers. Why not? CF was a thrill in SC4... but no one saw it. So now, we have a mechanic that we can actually use.
Meter management, while I was apprehensive at first, adds another layer of depth. 'Is she gonna string a BE? Or will she use a CE??? O.o Maybe she'll GI!' Keep guessing ;)
So much more to say... but I digress. Some other time ^_^

Hmms lets see. If I were to break it down into categories...

Story - 6.5/10
Gameplay and Mechanics - 9.5/10
Modes and Stuff - 9.0/10
Roster - 8.5/10

My list is (and I'll explain)
1) SC2 - Its a toned up version of SC1.
2) SC1 - I would say its the best.
3=) SC4 - Its kinda SC3 put right. Story mode is text. But I made a pretty decent Shao Kahn.
3=) SC5 - I like so much of this game, but I miss team battle, I miss a few of the styles not in there, I miss Edge/Weapon Master mode, The story mode is centred on pricks.
5) SC3 - This game has the best music and art/stages of any SC game but AI jumps in Story mode, CotS and taking out some multiplayer stuff, just makes this my least favourite.

I find SC1-3 to be better games, but SC5 is still fun. I hate when some people overhype this as being the best SC ever, yet they never played or cared about the rest of the series.

Don't get me wrong, SC5 is a lot of fun and does online as well as vs play right. Still, single player isn't much fun at all and customization is lacking.

Definitely my favorite, narrowly beating SC2. Even the people who like singleplayer and are unhappy with the removal of character X, or offline mode Y generally admit that gameplay-wise, it's one of if not the best in the series. Not saying it's perfect, but it's leaps and bounds ahead of it's predecessors in my humble opinion. The character creation is obviously the best so far, even though there is still room for improvement(the robo-voices and bulky/floating equipment.) Story mode, while short, gave me what I wanted, and was the first canon story that I actually gave a damn about(Luv ya Sieg, but that emo-brooding crap leading up to the totally anti-climactic meeting with Nighty bored me to tears in SC4, and I don't even remember what happened in 3.) Overall it's my favorite game in the series, my list would go something like: 5 > 2 >>> 3 = 4 (Never played SC1/SB)

By far I'd have to say....if Namco keeps going in this direction I feel they will make alot of Soul Players happy. Imo my order is:

Soul Calibur 2
Soul Calibur 5
Soul Calibur 1 (a very close third)
Soul Calibur 4
Soul Calibur 3

I like SC4 alittle bit more than 3 even though they shit on my main char. If SC6 adds the bigger move set and speed of SC2 with the same mechanics as in SC5 I would have to say it would be the best to date. That would be a power house of a game.

Ehhhh...I'm not so inclined. I still think the original is the best (when you're the best the entirety of the 3D genre can offer, that's tough to beat).

Don't get me wrong, not a bad game by any stretch, but the shorter movelist and tweaked Guard Impact system keep it from reaching true glory.

I'd say SCV has the best gameplay of the series, from what I've played so far. SCIII had the best story mode, what with the quicktime inputs and multiple paths and all. SCII's Weaponmaster mode beats out CotS and ToLS in my book. All in all, it's a mixed bag. For me to devote as much time to SCV as I did to earlier titles, I'm going to need to find some more friends who want to play regularly, or pray for some killer DLC.

People planning on playing in tournaments and majors like me need to put more input in on this one, since I see alot of story and modes that aren't tournament standard and have nothing to do with tournaments being put into the equation. Hey I love video games and I loved all the old stuff especially Survivor Mode which I miss but:

1. SC1 Dreamcast
3. SC5
2. SC2

Here we go:

SCV:
-SCV, mechanics-wise, is a much better improvement from SCIV
-Content, however, is lacked, while some is watered down.
-SCV's story, even though it isn't as great as it could have been, it does give more length than SCIV's.
-I fell that the "true" heart of the series, not in this game, is Edge Master/Weapon Master Mode. If it was included in this game, as well as a more extended story mode, it would be a much better game.
-CaS characters have a much better treatment this time (Quick Match) than SCIV's, but they are still considered as irrelevant, unlike SCIII.

I'm actually a SB/SE biased player, so that one is my favorite, but which one is the best? I'm tied between SCII and SCIII as far as the overall package of the game. Gameplay-wise, SCV, or SCII.

SC does not count, because I've never played that one.

I've been a casual SC player since SCII, and I've cared more about the characters than the game-play.
Sure, I take some time to learn certain moves that I like (Ivy's Summon Suffering/Calamity Symphony, etc), but once it gets hard-core and difficult (Legendary Souls Mode/Tower of Lost Souls), the game-play becomes a huge turn-off for me and then I just go and play around in Character Creation mode.
SCIII's Chronicles story mode was pretty fun for custom characters, and I loved the individual cut-scenes for all the characters.
Erm...Critical Edges are fun to use, and I could never do a Critical Finish in IV because it seemed so complicated to me...breaking off armor and getting the other player's health bar to flash red...or something. XD
Graphics have improved a lot across the games, and I am always happy with them. <3
Hmmm...and I wish SCIV had the snapshot option like SCV now has.
All the online trophy stuff kind of bothers me, because I'll probably never get them. I'm one of the people who prefers all the offline stuff, and SCV is kinda lacking in content with its offline modes. XP

When I get it, I'm sure I'm going to not stop playing it.
Even if they broke fucked with Ivy to extreme amounts like they always do.
I can adjust. Plus the character creation looks amazing and I'm really happy that online looks way smoother and more playable then in IV.

BUT, my list would prolly go III, II, V, IV (Never played the first two games D:)
