Single sidestep

Why would you ever single sidestep if you're dodging an attack? What happens if you just double step all the time?

Quickstep = slower execution time (2 taps instead of 1), and you may or may not lock yourself into 8WR moves.

I find that quickstep is not great, comparable to regular step (quickstep may have slightly more evasive capability in some cases but it seems very specific), and I usually only quickstep if I am looking to circle around, or specifically use an 8WR move from a step.

I used to be all about the quickstep, but then I stopped... I think it's because the old guard doesn't use it very much (preferring the "staccato" stepping in-out/side-to-side). It's quicker and easier to use single steps... I think. Your mileage may vary.
