Spacing issues with Talim

Okay, so I just wanna make sure I got this right, since I'm at work and have no access to my 360 atm. The process goes like this:

  1. You do a WC throw, and you'll essentially trade places and both be BT.
  2. From here you can do BT B (which I've just learned from you guys is uninterruptable)
  3. Or you could do another WC throw, which you would execute as follows:
    1. Input 8 or 2 to move in that direction.
    2. Input an 8_2B+K to WC in that same direction.
    3. Input A+G to go for your second WC throw.

I know you guys say it works, but it seems to me there's an awfully long time in between two crucial events:
  1. You inputting 8_2 and thus NOT doing your BT B.
  2. You hitting them with a WC throw.

With so much time in between these two, it seems they can counterattack on reaction. At least, I'm pretty sure the guy I play against most would be able to. And he's better than average, but not great.

Unless there's a quicker way to do a WC throw from BT, it seems like this would get stuffed quite a lot.

The opponent can counter on reaction, but most of the time they won't. If you mix up the followups enough, they'll probably be trying to figure out what you're going to do and thus, lose their time window for a counterattack. Between BT B, BT 2K, BT B+K~A+B or just turning and doing another move, There are plenty of options to keep up pressure on your opponent and cause them to want to keep their guard up. Which is what you want if you're gonna try the WC throw chain.

You could also switch it up by just turning and using a regular throw as well (or the 2-part throw), which would throw off their timing entirely.

Basically, it's is all mindgames, which means it's player dependent. You'll hit two in a row maybe 80% of the time, given they're not expecting you to attempt it (or they don't break the throw). Sometimes you'll get a third one in, but usually after the second one your opponent starts to catch on.

*points up* what zero said.

One key thing to keep in mind in all this is that you're goal is to make your opponent wait for you to do something.

Until you WC again, there are 2 points where you opponent must wait for you.

1) When you initially come out of the WC Throw (which we've been harping on)
and
2) When you turn around.

When you turn around is actually a REAL big point because if they wait for you to turn around.......you've turned around.

If they're still waiting, who the hell says you actually have to WC again?

The point of doing WC Throw -> WC Throw is to get free damage and leave your self in the EXACT SAME situation.

If you really want to be a dick, you can do something like WC Throw -> Throw. As in, you do WCThrow, and now they're waiting for a BT B cause they dont wanna get raped by that. So instead of turning and WCing, you could just... turn and throw. Turn and Monsoon Season. Think about it. Damage.

You could turn around and do whatever, cause if this is going right, they're waiting for you. You could turn and AS at them, turn and do some mid or low. Turn and Taunt. Whatever. XD

For a substitute for WC Throw -> WC Throw, what you could do is WC Throw -> (Turn Around)1A -> AA WC -> -nonsense-.

Gives you damage and leaves them standing up for more. Works better than WC A+K cause WC A+K takes a ridiculous amount of time and even in this situation it's reaaaaaaaally telegraphed.

Landing WC Throw is your legal right to just fuck with people.

Speaking about BT grabs.

If you ever manage to hit someone with 6B (wich leaves you in BT) I think there is a free follow up grab from BT. This is so nice! Since most of the people either try to retalliate or blocks, you will catch both of them with one sweet grab (wich in turn give some oki games. Sweet!) If they however think they are smart and try to duck it. BAM!! BT B into the wellknown combo with the AAB juggle on the end.

This seems like a great mix-up to me. Also talking about Tagga(WC B+G/A+G). I think that doing a multipart-throw after Tagga and then oki-games is better then Tagga'ing all over the place.

But man you get some HUGE respect if you pull that off :D

BT > 22_88 Throw almost always lands. If it doesn't using BT > B will force them almost 100% of the time to block on BT. Giving the free throw damage.
