SoulCalibur V was a reboot, so it would be ridiculous to reboot it again.
I know some people think V was a bad entry but I don't, in fact I think it's superior to IV. The only bad thing is that it was rushed and a lot of content was missing but that's the publishers fault, the developers did everything they can and the result was pretty good.
Why did I bring this up? Well it's one of the main reasons we have this topic. I don't think anyone thought about rebooting Tekken after Tekken 3 ;)
Having said that, I think the way to go is a sequel. They need to retcon some of the stuff in V (especially story) but aside from that it's a good base to go from character wise. Keep only one version from each Alexandra. Keep only one mimic. Add new and veteran characters (4-6 additions).
F0r the story I think the way to go is multiple individual stories. One of them should be a retelling and continuation of the Alexandras' story with Nightmare, another covers the people journeying west (Maxi's group), one for Schwarzwind and maybe a catch all one for the rest of the veterans.
The rest are more personalized opinions:
- Retcon Alpha Patrokolos, bring back Setsuka.
- Make Pyrrah the new Nightmare, give her a mixture between her moves and his moves and replace her shield with a shield shaped demonic arm .
- Make Kilik the new Edgemaster, give him a unique special move ala Elysium.
- Introduce Bangoo, he should be in his thirties and his moveset should be mostly new.
- Introduce Elysium as a Nightmare counterpart, give her Pyrrah Omega's moveset and a fully armored look.
- Kick out Algol.
And about the modes just bring back everything that was in SC3.
Or knowing Namce they can take the easy money way out and just add the ~12 missing characters from SCIV with slightly updated models and call it
a day "SoulCalibur Tag Tournament."
I think they should either continue the series or reboot it and call it Soul Edge 2.
I think that was Daishi's original plan, but it got shot down by Namco.
