training

Get the main moves attached to your brain. Practice to guard and antigrab for starters :)
I've just started my self! :)

I don't train at all! Wahaha!

What I like to do instead, is mess up on the spot and lose multiple times in a row...

... No, really...

If you need to build your confidence, doing rote drills in training mode is alright. But if you're not scared of losing, the best way to learn is to try, fail, and then try again!

Practice is boring. Losing is fun! Woooo

Concentrate on a specific match up. Choose up to 2 characters you enjoy playing and work on becoming very competent with them. Find someone who likes picking the same character and play them often. Try to get a best out of 10 or 20 matches with them. Try to figure out which moves are punishable... some moves have awful frames, or the move is high or easily stepped. After you are familiar with the match up go to training mode and practice finding moves that will shut down the enemy's move list. This is called labbing. After you "lab" play them again. Try to play lots of different people, because everyone plays their character a little different and there are large differences in skill barriers from one person to the next.

The more you practice the more natural performing your skills will be with the mentality that you can do it, having enough practice before battle can be better when you need to use certain moves at the right time, especailly when you need to JG which gets easier the more you practice the technique then it eventually becomes natural as doing a normal guard or performing combos.

I recommend also to do something like legendary souls at times as a means of practice before going online also to use the record mode in training mode to practice JG's and evading and punishing moves.

Yea for practice with characters i usually jump in arcade or legendary souls if i want a more online experience feel. Great advice appreciate it!

i feel like it depends on the character you are trying to master, because if its alpha, yoshi, ivy (gotta practice iCS and 5 hit JF) or another difficult character to use, training is something you HAVE to use, but if its a character like mitsu or pat, then i wouldnt consider training mode that much.
