What I don't get is the ending. So they used Soul Edge to destroy Soul Calibur after Patroklos destroyed Elysium?
Ironic isn't it? After all this time Soul Edge was used to destroy Soul Calibur... And it's actually canon this time.

My question is: Did the fragment that Patrokolos knocked off SE disappear when both swords were destroyed/sent back to Astral Chaos? Or does it still exist and the siblings just walked off without a second glance? It would explain why Pyrrha's arm is still malfested if that fragment of Soul Edge still exists.

Technically, a lot of soul edge fragments still exist. Ivy and Maxi still have shards in them, unless something else was explained off screen that WE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT!!!

how hasn't Pyrrha died? She should have been dead at the end of SCIV. Sophitia's whole motivation for protecting soul edge was to protect Pyrrha. Siegfried is showen to defeat nightmare and destroy soul edge. Thus Pyrrha was suppose to die because she could not live without the influence of soul edge.

I don't have confirmation on this yet, but I think it is explained in Pyrrha Omega's profile. According to the bio, Sophitia embedded a shard of the sword inside her. Now, I can't think any good reason for such action outside of serving as a "backup" of sorts for Pyrrha in the case (or because) the sword was damaged. Remember, shards were once again spread after the end of the battle, and they were apparently very much active, so it's not like the sword's influence was shut off completely (like in 3 with the Soul Embrace, which weakened it considerably)

Ivy has no shard, she's got the cursed blood of the sword (being its spawn and all that), but otherwise there are plenty of shards going around (in Maxi, Pyrrha, Mekki-Maru, possibly (one of the) Astaroth?, etc.)

Everyone play Chapter 20 in Story Mode. At the end you see Pat and Pyrrha destroy SC & SE. Was I the only one that noticed that SE had a piece missing at the end?

And there you go, SCVI!!

My bet is (if this series survives another sequel) Soul Edge & Soul Calibur was probably thought to both be destroyed, but SE is still loose. While Pyrrha finds a cure to get rid of her tree-bark arm, Pat finds the reason of why "malfested" are still on the rise. Just my thoughts

What I don't understand is how what they did at the end of SCV didn't just result in another soul embrace. I mean, it was literally the exact same thing Siegfried did to the sword in SC3. Stabbed it. Straight through.

Pretty much, the ending left all of us scratching our heads in confusion. Everything was so thrown off and left us wondering what else happened. So Soul Calibur and Soul Edge have been destroyed, so what, Soul Edge gets destroyed and remade all over again, what they should do is go back in time, find the person who created Soul Edge and off them (if it were only so easy).

Now that you mention it, who was it that created Soul Edge? I haven't played soul blade/edge in about 10-15 years, so all I remember is Vercci(typo?) sending Cervantes to hunt for the legendary Soul Edge and it possesing him when he found it.

From where did Soul Edge come from, who made it? Why does it always come back (well sequels duh, but is it purely due to Soul Edge fragments or what?)

Edit: Just checked Infernos guide from what I remembered from Soul Edge, apparently no one knows where it came from or when it appeared. Second question still stands legit though.

Which is exactly why we should look deeper into this story of how Soul Edge came to be and how there should be a whole storyline/rehash surrounding this.

Even bigger question:
Why are you even here if its that bad?

I think the story mode is bad (loved the ending though and the ending theme).

But he's just saying that because in it's condition it should not have been released. I love the game, but that means accepting it's faults. Which is that it was clearly rushed. The story mode looks like it could have been amazing, they had so much in store for us and bamco ruined it. Project soul deserved better than this. I see all the wasted potential in this games story mode and weep for how great it could have been. I can just imagine having fully animated cut scenes with this games beautiful engine filled with characters and leaving all our questions answered and having the proper cliff hangers, rather than the game ending with 70% of the cast in the background. Also had it got the time it needed the reviewers and feed back would have been tremendously positive, rather than everyone calling it a mixed bag.

Unlike Soul Calibur, Soul Edge's origins are mostly vague and underdeveloped. Someone created it as a normal sword, it was bathed in blood and the hatred of those it slayed, until it gained a soul. Then Algol found it and etcetera. Probably there's no need for anything else, but I hold out for a future game delving into the situation around its origin and its creator.

As for how it tends to come back, it's mostly because the sword has the tendency to run away into the Chaos dimension whenever it's in danger of being destroyed. Happened in the first Calibur (after Xianghua broke a sizable part of it), did it again in Calibur 3 (after the storm of destruction almost tore Nightmare apart) and did it once again in Calibur 4 (after Siegfried heavily damaged it). Through Chaos it can move to another part of the world, or even stay there and restore itself over time (as it did in Calibur 5), so probably Ivy is in the right track in her belief that no Chaos = the sword gets severely handicapped.

That's it, Soul Edge only thrives on chaos and within Astral Chaos. Soul Edge would have some sort of power residing there but there has to be a logical way to permanently destroy it rather than just go insane and smash it to pieces. So hopefully, Ivy can find a way to neutralize the chaos through alchemy. It seems the only way to finish Soul Edge once and for all.
