What is a .card file and why am i downloading them, 8WR.com?

so today, by simply clicking on thread links on this forum, i find the "downloads" window of my browser popping up to tell me that i have downloaded some (unwanted) files. Totally Sketchy.

file names include: "I will never own an xbox.card" , and "I don't have one sorry.card"

what are these .card files, what purpose do they serve, and how can i stop downloading them involuntarily?

oh come on, i can't be the only one seeing this.

is it because you all are on windows and don't notice this download taking place? i'm using safari on mac osx.

i'll spell it out again, more plainly this time:

1. I click on the "microsoft is a bunch of idiots" thread.

2. Somehow, without doing anything else, i've begun downloading a "blahblahsomethingXboshish.card" file.

What is going on. do i need to worry?
