Which camera to buy for video?

I'm in the market for a digital camera that takes some decent pics (8 mp and up) as well as one that can do some decent video capture for some casual/tournament vids. My wife has a powershot camera, which takes decent video, so I'm kind of in the market for something similar.

Looking to spend about $200 max, but more if I have to. What do some of you guys use? And how easy is it to load your stuff up to youtube?

Captured that with my Lumix camera. Kinda limited on tripod placement and height etc tho. Since it uses SD cards, I just popped it into my PC's card reader slot and uploaded it to YT from there with no other processing.

Megapixels these days is a bit of a misnomer; its more about the size of the actual camera die. You can have a 6 megapixel camera with a 1cm die and it will take great pictures, then you can have a 12 megapixel camera with a 2mm die, and it will look like crap. Generally, this means anything above 8 megapixels is usually a rip off; people busting out high numbers at the expense of quality. What you want to do is get a camera that records at 29.97 fps or 59.94 fps. Otherwise you can get black streaks on your video.

I myself use a 7.1mp Canon PowerShot A620 and it works great.

How much more? Cuz if you got a boat load of cash $$$$, get this:

Canon EOS 5D Mk II

or

Canon EOS 7D (just released)
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=139&modelid=19356

Both of these are changing the face of amateur/semi-pro/pro video because now you can use all those awesome optics for digital photography for digital film and get things like true DoF (Depth of field) at much more affordable cost than the other options out there...

Here's a sample of what you can you do with the above, video made using Canon EOS 5D:

Of course the lenses will still cost you more (a whole lot more) than possibly the camera and all of it together will be a far cry (a whopping far cry) from your original $200 budget. ^_^

But if that isn't good enough and money isn't any concern then forget all this sissy stuff and get any of the cameras made by here:

Ha ha, I wish money was not an issue. Jaxel, thanks man, I think I'll go with that seeing as you put up a lot of quality vids and what not. Thanks!!!
