Instructions
Extract the file and put the $systemupdate folder on a flash drive

Plug it into your 360 and update!

Anyone get the update yet? It's 2am pacific and it hasn't gone out for me. I dunno when Microsoft usually rolls out updates. Maybe 8am? I dunno.
 
It's up. Just installed it and viewed the intro movie. My goodness, Microsoft really knows how to hype a fuckin dashboard.
 
Just installed Soul Calibur 4 and tested Arcade mode...

Ho,ly, shit. No loading. Feels like my friend Vietlove's PS3! Thank goodness! Maybe VF5 and Oblivion will improve, too?
 
I also really like the Netflix idea. It was really easy to set up kind of... I'm on the last step! You have to activate it from your computer using a code that your Xbox gives you. It won't freaking work! I called netflix's free 24 hour support and they said their server is getting hit really hard. So maybe try later? It's funny how when MS doesn't screw up an update, Netflix does haha. The avatars are pretty funny. More customizable than Mii's and you can take a pic for your gamer card!

Edit: You can't make the avatars very short... or fat!

Dude, I can't browse the marketplace. Error codes like a mother.

It's only been up for 2 hours and it's 4AM Pacific. This won't end well...
 
Yeah I got some too. I wanted to buy some stuff for my avatar, but it doesn't look like they have any content for them yet? Also I tried to play music off my 40GB usb hard drive that I usually use... It is taking 4 ever to access it... I just pressed B and now... oh jesus.

Hrm weird. Did you try it from the dashboard? Or in game? It works fine for me in the dashboard. In game (only tried SC4) it takes at least 5 minutes to load. When I pressed B to stop it, the freakin thing froze up.
 
I tried while I was in training mode in SCIV. It would be logical to be more problematic if you do it while playing, but not so much since it's fine for me...

Although it could perhaps have something to do with the fact that mine is 4gig and almost empty, while yours is 40gig.
 
Yeah prolly. I have almost 10 gigs of music on there. I guess I will have to start playing music in the dashboard and then play games. Kind of lame.

So many documentaries to watch from the Netflix streaming thing.

I don't have a 360...but this new dashboard looks pretty atrocious. And the Avatars...come on...Wii60 much?

I always wanted to have a Mii for the 360. It's not like you can't use your old gamerpic. I dunno why avatars are a detriment.
 
Do like I do and buy one 360 for each single game that you play, this way you won't have to pay for the big drives!

(I only play SCIV. ;) )

Did you notice the heavily improved load times? Soul Calibur 4 seems snappier after the install and it is especially apparent in the character creation process. Huge improvement!
