I got done playing as Edge Master in Legendary Souls because someone challenged me to do it, however, everytime I got to play as Raph (I dont know him at all), I felt really good about playing him for some reason. Something made me feel as if they guy could be a real badass if he was mastered with. So I was thinking about using the guy & train with him & use him on the Battlefield.

Anyways, I wanna get to know him more by what do the people think of Raphael if (lets say for an example) someone who is masterful as the Raph. Is he pretty annoying against his enemies? is he really good at offensive & defensive gameplay? & most importantly, what is your opinion & advice to someone who is thinking of using Raph (such as me).

PS: I don't believe character tiers, nor characters having 100% dominance over one character, so try not to give me your bullshit about tiers if you have any, but a little more focus on the questions I said. Don't forget to give me your opinion & any advice you can offer to any new Raph players (Especially me, because I'm sure I like his style enough to become a badass with Raph).

Also, if you guys find any videos that you know is badass about Raphael, I'd sure like to see them. (SCV only)

He is very linear if not used properly but he can "last" a lot in a battle using evasive moves and his overly weak horizontals. lol

he still have nice combos and a very nice UA, his best moves are those who start with a linear input but you can punish your opponent's try of sidestep if you're good enough to read them

he has nice grabs

normal CE

nice BE's

a plenty list of low attacks

Death_Emperor, it's great that you don't believe in tiers. Tiers, if they really are that important, only matter at the highest level of play, which is ideal imo. I agree that you will feel badass if you play Raphael properly, as I am of Raph's biggest fans, though I am only a casual player. All I will say for now is Raph is good. Don't listen to people who blindly believe he is trash and don't get discouraged if you get bad results. Everything takes time and practice.

My advice is to be patient when learning Raph. He is harder to master than many other characters and he does not have as many obvious powerful options but keep a positive attitude when practicing with him. He has ways to stop step, he has methods to prevent Prep shutdown, etc. I won't get into too many details right now. Raphael is a zoner and defensive character, so don't try to rushdown on your opponents. Keep them at mid range and always look for opportunities to punish. Raphael can punish almost anything unsafe. This is one of his biggest strengths.

hes a bob saget face :I

You better not compare him to Saget lol. Raphael actually resembles David Bowie but is far more handsome than the two of them put together!!!

Raphael kills me when I'm playing Siegfried or Astaroth if he can get in close and stay close. If he holds back at medium range, I can deal with him. See also: Xiba.

Really?? Maybe it depends on the player's preference. I usually do better with Raph when I stay away. Well for Astaroth, if you get in his face, you'll eat his throws. I guess it's best for a Raph player to alternate between ranged game and upclose poking game.

I get stabbed repeatedly every time I let my guard down for a moment to throw, though I usually didn't throw much with other characters before I started learning Astaroth and I'm definitely a long way away from learning to take full advantage of his throwing game. If I'm lucky, the Raphel player go into a crouch at some point and if I react fast enough I can get him with a fast low throw. Otherwise, once I have to start blocking a lot of fast attacks with Astaroth I'm pretty much stuffed.

Play Raph for a while and you will.
I never will, sorry. If I did, I would be one of those whinning complainers & I'm not.

You make me wanna start training now...

Can we stop with this tier bullshit? I seriously don't believen that horrible utter feeble weakness. Tiers makes everything sound like whinning. I'll cut you guys the slack though, for not being like me into believing any character can win if they train hard enough.

& don't reply to this, cause it might just be more whinning.

First off, learn to spell whining.

Secondly, tiers exist, they just don't apply to you, or most people.

Thirdly, "everyone can win" is optimistic, but is patently untrue at the highest levels of play.

I can't wait to see you grovel! :sc3tir1: Tira proved to us how someone believed to suck can win at the highest level of play. :P

It could've been a typo. Don't be so critical.

@Death Personally, I thought the same thing and which is why he is now my secondary! >:D

Still. Idle doesn't have to be so critical of others. I should be expecting criticism towards myself now, shouldn't I?

Idle, you just had to come into this thread right? Why are you so critical of someone when it's not even a big deal?? All he is saying is that he doesn't want to let the concept of tiers discourage from playing an underrated character. Even if tiers do exist, it's not a bad thing to be optimistic. The guy was just asking for suggestions on Raph which we Raph players were willing to give.

Btw didn't you say yourself that tier debates will not be tolerated because they lead to flame wars?? This atmosphere of this thread is already changing, and I do not want any more mention of tiers.

Tira was never bad, people were just stupid thinking they knew more than developers when they "nerfed" her in the patch. So trying to prove your point by using a flawed example doesn't help anyone. It just breeds ignorance.

If you allow ignorance to go unchecked, it breeds. Last people need is to be told false things. The spelling note was just my own personal touch.

The world isn't flowers and roses, and the game has a bad enough reputation from people whining (<--- spelled correctly) over nothing. The last thing we need is people spreading more BS. A harshly put truth is worth more than a nice sounding lie.

Nobody is "debating" tiers. Tiers exist. It is a fact. If someone wants to learn a character to a tournament level; they should be told where it is thought they lie, and ALSO told it's not likely to come up until they hit the highest level of play.

So don't defend ignorance, and clamor for "fairness". That is bullshit.
