Astaroth Q&A/Discussion Thread

The 28B+G will only work after an off-the-ground 88B BE occasionally and usually only against another Astaroth.

are you sure?...im doing it in practice mode against pyrrha and it land all the times.

this combo: CH 66K>G>22B(BE)>28:B+G

Is this with regular Asta or a CaS Asta? Also you don't need the G in there, 22 will put you into the 8-way-run state even if you are backturned.

regular astaroth....and yes i saw that dont need the G...but i think the 22B(BE) comes slower than with G>22B(BE)
ill try to record with my celphone and put it here

Hard to tell, I think it is a tech trap. Do a normal 22B BE and then a stun combo off the ground version to compare them to, you can tell the difference by how high they go in the air afterwards.

if the 22B BE hits grounded, only the larger characters like NM, Asta, Algol wouldve been grabbed 28+BG. All others cannot be grabbed consistently, if at all

Can Astaroth's air throw grab Yoshimitsu out of his Dragonfly Stance?
Testing shows yes, 28B+G can scoop him up out of both Dragonfly and Super Dragonfly
While I was at it, Flea also counts as airborne, even when Yoshimitsu is "grounded", but 28B+G will just jump over him if he's not pogoing.
A+G will scoop him out of it just fine, though.

What are you guys using post GI? I've been mixing up mostly with:

-66B: damage
-3B: slight delay if I expect re-GI
-214A: If I expect re-GI

Not an astaroth player, but I do 66AB or one of his half circle throws for damage. i think 44(A) works too if they try to re GI.

66AB is i24. After a GI, you get (I believe?) a 27frame window to do a move. So, 66AB can be used for immediate attacking or a delay.

Post GI options;
66AB
66B
CMND Grabs
4A+B (oki)
FC 3K (oki/RO-Potential)
4KB+G/A+G (Mix up/RO-potential)

Post GI (Delay):
6(B+K)
22_88B:BE
66(K)
44(A)
214A
4B+K B
8A (oki/RO-Potential)

The important thing about using GI is taking note on your ring position. If your opponents back is towards the edge, FC 3K (Immediate or delay) should be your first choice. 8A will also RO to the opponents right. The safest choice is to use a CMND grab attempt.

My personal choice for an immediate attack would be 66AB (aside a CMND grab). 66AB has clean hit properties, so you're looking at 56-64dmg. Which is awesome for Astaroth ("faster"attack-wise). For delay, depending on your ring positioning again, 6(B+K) has a huge pushback on hit. This could end up in potential RO or wall combo. It's important to NOT use this as a delayed post-GI option when the opponents back is toward the edge. You could get a wallsplat with said move, but with no heavy-damaging follow ups. Or, a self-RO may happen. as I mentioned before FC 3K should be a substitute. Or, moves that lead to potential RO/Wall splat like... 44(A).

Hope this was useful to some people.

I just added some damage number to your options to give people an idea of what they can do.

Post GI options;
66B 38
66AB 56
CMND Grabs b grab 88 a grab 74
4A+B (oki), crouch throw 71 -81

Post GI (Delay):
6(B+K) -6B, 22K, 22B 108. 1 bar 6B, 22K, 22B~BE 66B 126
22_88B:BE -28B+G 112
66(K) -PT 117
44(A) A,B, 22K, 22B 110. 1 bar A,B, 22K, 22B~BE 66B 118
214A - 90
4B+K B - 48

I believe 66B is 32dmg-40(clean hit)
66AB is 56dmg-64dmg(clean hit)

Post GI (Delay):
6(B+K) -6B, 22K, 22B 108. 1 bar 6B, 22K, 22B~BE 66B 126
22_88B:BE -28B+G 112
66(K) -PT 117
44(A) A,B, 22K, 22B 110. 1 bar A,B, 22K, 22B~BE 66B 118
214A - 90
4B+K B - 48
Also, 4B+KB leads into 22B as well. So 48dmg is the least you'd get, with no combo.
