Free damage. Everybody likes free damage, right? You can get it from punishing your opponent’s mistakes, and you can get it from kicking him in the legs if he never wants to block low. But what if I told you that wasn’t all? What if I told you there was a way to get damage that doesn’t involve safety or mixups?

Everybody likes free damage- and when you can catch your opponent’s rhythm, you can hit him with any move in the game- for absolutely nothing!
Drop the beat!.

This is it! You’ve broken through your opponent’s defense and landed a powerful strike, sending him reeling. Now, while the time is right- don’t back off! He is weakened on the ground- you can end this, right here and now! Step forward and deliver the coup de grâce!
"It’s over! I have the high ground!".

So your time has finally come. The veritable God of Calibur stands before you. Spacing unparalleled, punishment razor-sharp. Rushdown like a tornado, defense an impenetrable fortress. You have no chance of winning against this opponent.

… but you do. You possess a gift- a small glimmer of hope in the face of this adversity. A weapon powerful enough to combat even the most invincible opponent. You, my friend, must never forget that you have the power of mixups.
A god’s power is nothing to me!.

If you’ve ever been playing the game, and you’re just having… just a lot of trouble. Nothing seems to be working, you can’t penetrate your opponent’s defense, you lose and lose and you don’t know why.

If it’s ever happened to you, well, the million-dollar question is: Are you punishing?

If you are not punishing, you are going to lose! Besides, you want your revenge, don’t you? Don’t let your opponent get away!
Time to pay up!.

What’s the one way that you can guarantee victory forever and ever, win all of the time, and never lose? I’m talking… tournaments, sponsorships, money matches, casuals in the dorm room, skimpy cosplay girls, game director shaking your hand, Charlie Sheen, all I do is win, put your hands in the air, make them stay there. Be psychic.

This is square one. This is the most important lesson in Soul Calibur there is. If you do not understand this, you can do nothing. Victory will constantly evade you. You will lose for all eternity and there is no hope of success.

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. When you know this- truly know this, it will permeate throughout the rest of your game. Your strength will increase hundredfold and only the titans themselves will be able to oppose you.
Be enlightened.

Super High-Level In Your Face TIERLIST!!!

I know I'm late 2 da partay but, seriously, I can't find any tierlist (das not a wurd lol) thread that I can post in and I never got to share my opinion. If possible, I want this to be a discussion because I want to talk about everyone's perspective and actually like to hear this stuff (so, if we can, no close, please). I mean, I know people get angry for whatever reason but that's just another spice of life, right?

I'd like it if, rather than posting you guyseses own that you criticize mine. Now, I understand that might not always be the case but I'd at least like for the topic to start off that way so that I can give a chance to give some reasoning. But, please, be direct in your criticism and questioning; it's much harder to answer the question, "Why is *X* here?" as opposed to answering, "Why is *X* here and not here?" or "Why is *X" here instead of *Y*?"

Well, without further delay, my own personal tierlist! =o
Backstep: Now You See Me…

Everyone knows how to sidestep- move out of the way of those big verticals, or that BB spam, and hit the opponent while they’re open. But do you know how to backstep? The backstep is a powerful tool that enables an instant shift in momentum, a creation of chance from nothingness. Utilizing it properly will put you that much closer to achieving your true strength.
Step on.
Spacing: Lines in the Sand

Fighting is difficult. You have to worry about mixups, frames, okizeme- the opponent is a thorn in your side, a problem. He has all of these options and you have to compensate for them. What if- you didn’t have to play his game at all? What if you could control the match and only engage the opponent when you wanted to?

There is a way- a very important concept that you may have heard of before. It’s called “spacing”. It is a technique that, when mastered, can make you impossible to hit- an untouchable master of your domain.
