Less than 2 weeks away, and it looks like Philadelphia's Summer Jam 5 is shaping up to be the most competitive Soul Calibur 4 tournament since FSAK. While Big E Gaming events have incredibly high competition for other fighting games, its not often we get to see this type of anticipation for Soul Calibur 4, this late in the game's life cycle. More information here...
8WayRun.Com will be streaming nothing but Soul Calibur for the entire weekend and if you can't make it out to Philadelphia in person, you can watch the festivities on the stream. In addition to the team tournament, the singles tournament, and many other money matches and challenges, we also have a very special event....
Anybody who has attended SummerJam or DEVASTATION in the past knows just what an amazing time they guarantee. Both are great events which will be featuring Soul Calibur 4 and some of the world's best players.
If you are on the fence about attending either, or both of these events due to financial restraints, please be aware that for the next 24 hours Southwest Airlines is holding their 40th anniversary blowout sale on flights for the upcoming tournament season.
*EDIT* Deal is now over!
How good are these deals? Well check them out yourself at southwest.com! I'm talking about ROUND TRIP flights to either event from anywhere in the USA for $80-$240. Don't pass this opportunity up! If you have yet to join the offline tournament scene, or if you have had a taste and need more, this is the time to snatch up those dirt cheap tickets and kick some ass!
CEO 2011 Fighting Game Championships were this weekend! We were also fortunate enough to have Katsuhiro Harada, fighting game directory of Namco Bandai in the audience. Harada-san presented the top 3 with a medal to wear around their neck, and also a Hori joystick. CEO 2012 is already in the works and SC5 is guaranteed to be on the docket!
For those that don't know, The Jaxel-Dome has been the mecca of the Soul Calibur community here on the east coast going back to the last days of when Soul Calibur II was played competitively. It's also where I was first introduced to the community and to playing the game offline for Soul Calibur IV.
Anytime that I come to the Jaxel-Dome, it never feels like I am just at a tournament. For me, it's a family reunion with a tournament as an added bonus. It's been almost 5 months since the last Jaxel-Dome tournament. If you weren't there, then you missed out on alot, but you can click here to check out the videos. So if you are in the Central Jersey area, make sure you come through. You don't want to miss this tournament.
This coming weekend will have a lot of hot Soul Calibur action to check out with GVN Winter Brawl 5 in Philadelphia, PA, and with World Game Cup in Cannes, France.
GVN Winter Brawl 5 will feature singles and a 3 on 3 team tournament for SC4. After NEC XI, I could not wait for this tournament to get here since I did not compete in the singles tournament where RTD blew away the competition using and dressed as The Apprentice.
World Game Cup will also feature singles and a 3 on 3 tournament for SC4, as well as the World Team Cup which is the main event of WGC where the World's Best Nation in SC4 is crowned. Back in 2004, the United States defeated France in the grand finals. In 2010, France defeated the United States in the first round and moved on to later defeat Italy in the...
