Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny-NEW GAME-

Why does this guy remind me of the main bad guy from the Wacky racers? And the new game is kind of" why is this needed?", basically for me.

Will this game have ring-outs?! We're not sure, but we'll dig deep and keep you up-to-date on any breaking developments!!

Lol, it's like Kraytos wrote this and is hoping it doesn't.

just some trailer:
some stages look a bit unfamiliar with these changes in lighting effects

Here's what I think I see:

:19 -New (actual) FMV. Looks like we might get a decent opening movie in this game.
:28 -Stained glass cathedral-style windows. I don't recognize them.
:29 -Is that the throne room stage without soldiers between the play area and the throne? How would that work? I must be wrong.
:30 -Thesmophoros' Imperial Garden at sundown instead of daylight.
:31 -Wolfkrone Monument without the mechanical musicians around the edges? And are there objects on fire?
:32 -Jyurakudai Villa in autumn as opposed to winter. I think it was spring in SC3.
:33 -Distant Marsh at night. Love it. (Dodos removed?)

Wow the game looks great! I'm hyped!!

The cathedral style windows are part of the throne room stage, they just changed the style of the window. I noticed the throne room has less giant doors along the walls now. And I'm not sure, but I think I noticed some object on the ground blocking the stairs that lead up to the throne.

The Wolfkrone Monument has giant lamps instead of mechanical musicians. And I'm not sure but it seems more elevated. The bells in the background are more on level with the stage. On console they were a bit higher up.

I really hope they bring back the pirate ship in the storm stage from SC3 (forgot what it was called). That one was awesome.

I can't wait to see what the character lineup will be. I read somewhere that there will be about 30 characters. Right now, minus Star Wars there are 26. Dampier makes 27.. as for the remaining 3? My guess is... 28. Hwang, 29. Li Long, 30. Tekken guest character (Jin?)

I can't check my archives for specifics from here, but a handful of the stages in SCIV are exactly this kind of variant on stages from SCIII. I predict the return of all those SCIII stages: including Kunpaetu Shrine,
Jyurakudai Villa and possibly Egyptian Temple.

Why do game companies do this? release a portable exclusive installment in a series that has up until now been on consoles? Hell they didn't even release it on the DS it's on the PSP of all things.

I just don't get it, it's not going to make me cough up 150+ dollars just to play this half new installment half expansion pack, and I'd like to think I'm not the only one so unwilling to throw money out the window.

And why the PSP?! Is Namco purposely not making money?! (Actually looking at the lack of a NA LE content DLC release, I'm starting to think this might be the case.) I mean do people think about this shit at all?!

Maybe I'm just an idiot, maybe PSP exclusive releases make shit tons of cash despite the PSP pretty much being an official failure at this point, maybe they stand to make more money this way than if they also say, released Dampierre as DLC. (god knows he'd sell a lot more than those fucking retarded weapon packs.)

Dude, imagine playing soulcalibur on the ds....

*shudders at the thought of stylus-controlled bubble spam*

Lol... what a nasty thought. You know how many scrubs would stick their stylus halfway through their DS while trying to mash out some wins? Rofl

DrHobo, I... don't get your pain.

You're right about Namco's piss poor management of DLC, but I don't see the problem of SC on PSP at all. I've actually been hoping for it for a long time. I'm sorry you don't have a PSP (and, apparently, hate them on some ideological level,) but I have a lot more opportunities to use my PSP than I do to spend time on the 360. Heck, I'm taking a month-long trip to Greece this summer, and I'll probably get to play more SC during airplane rides and lazy afternoons than I have in the last six months.

Oddly enough, I've almost exclusively turned to my DS for spot-entertainment even since I got a PSP (almost exactly one year ago,) and I'd be absolutely heartbroken if they tried to make SC work on the DS. First off, there's a 99% chance that if they *did* make an SC game for DS, it would use the license but not even be a fighting game (think of the difference between PSP Guilty Gear and DS "Dust Strikers"... ugh,) and in the 1% chance they *did* try to make a 3D fighter it would necessarily suck due to hardware limitations (at the very least, it would run at a max 30fps and therefore be non-standard with the console version.) Not to say that a strategy game using SC characters and themes couldn't be interesting and/or decent, just that it wouldn't use the same gameplay. The PSP can do that, the DS can't - so where's the problem?

^^^ from wat he said, the problem is that the psp doesnt sale as much as the ds, and they should be trying to sale it on the system that sailing the most...

This shows all four new characters in the top right.

moar gunz! OSSOME! they look like a band of thieves...

stage looks great as well. reminds me of that MGS4 stage where you have to follow the resistance member.

is that a giant swing I see from Dampierre?

umm... I don't know what to say about these 3 new characters...

Dampierre has potential to be an interesting character, but the other three... dual axe-guns, a cross-bow, and another rapier user? They just don't seem that original or as memorable as the rest of the cast..

I guess I'll continue to stay optimistic about this installment, but those 3 other characters have me a bit worried now.. =\

*EDIT: I just got STD to translate a bit of it, he said that the 3 behind him aren't new characters, they're just his servants.
