reason I've never done hard mode for more than one stage? what's the fun in not being able to level your weapons?

you cant lvl you weapons in hard mode... I may have to reconsider then. Besides I think I heard that you can unlock jackson by doing stuff in normal mode as well.

There's a few things you can abuse in MMZ1 without levelled weapons. One thing you can do is the saber/shield combo; by holding out the shield, you reduce the saber's standing slash recovery frames. Now all you have to do is walk up to a boss, stand there and mash on the saber button. Watch the health go down!

For those bosses that you can't quite reach with a standing slash, your shield boomerang will be your only weapon that can do elemental damage. Yes, it's quite strange in how it flies and you can't dash while holding it. The first part of that can only be remedied with practice but with the second, you can at least do dash jumps by pressing dash and jump together (try pressing jump right before dash if possible). Wall dash jumps are easier, all you have to do is hold down the dash button and then wall kick.

(I still don't understand how to evade the laser spread attack)

Basically you stand on one side of the platform to prepare for any attacks. When you see the flame, you simply jump to the pillar. When you see the lasers, make your way to the other end of the platform. When X's health is high, the lasers will be slow and you can just walk from end to end. But around half health/second bar, start dashing toward the other end right before they fire.

you should definently get it it's a very well done collection. MMZ3 even has some additional content for this version

To bad its for DS only, if it was for PSP I would definitely pick this one up.

there would be a pretty huge black border on the sides if this was ported to PSP that's for sure
