Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3

Best way to get online matches: Do either Arcade or Training Mode, set Invites on (there's an option for Player Matches AND Ranked). Dont try to go through online unless you really want a multiperson room...and without the ability to spectate, they're kind of worthless unless you're with friends online.

I only complain about some characters in lag simply because they have moves/combos that are so easy to hit confirm lag has no influence on their combos. Zero hits like 5 times per attack so canceling in the middle of each one is simple and you will never miss. You can create combos with dante literally by smacking your forehead against the buttons, sentinal has enough hit stun per hit you could fit a quickie inbetween each one, and Ammy you just keep mashing forward and H...then I lose because my characters have a very small hit confirm window for parts of the combo and I drop it. This will fade as I get better, but in the early stages it's very frustrating to want to play technical characters and have everything you learned in practice mode be too risky online to compete with character's who's basics are almost as good as advanced combos. There's not really any cheap lag tactics i've seen though, just a fucked up tier list for online. It's the Setsuka factor.

I'm really at a point I don't know what to do team wise. I'm expecting a lot of nerfs to hit some characters and I'm torn between using what's will work currently, versus picking a team I feel will be strong without the current over powered tactics. The competitive part says find a battery character that can get in easy and DHC to Sentinal Force for corner combo...and the other half wants to avoid him expecting a nerf that will make him not useful in EVERY FUCKING TEAM. Seriously....their is not a single team that can't use Sentinal well. Best assist in game.

Current Team: Dormammu, Doom (missles), Morrigan (battery assist). Centers on dorm playing lock down and spamming morrigan assist behind Homing Fireball Hyper while stocking up for lvl 3 Destruction liberation liberation. I like Doom for the assist and on point, but he doesn't benefit to greatly from meter or dorm assist. I like Morrigans assist, but she's very awkward on point, but is aided by Doom's missles.

Any thoughts on what to do with Dorm/Morrigan (battery) team? I like doom, but I feel I could use the slot better for a more meter abusive character that works with lockdown.

Honestly, I don't know much about any of those 3. The only time I use Morrigan is when I'm using Hulk and Phoenix, trying to get to level 5 while beating the shit out of people with gamma charge lol.

I tend to stick with Dante, Zero, and Trish. I think I'll switch out one (Not sure which yet as all 3 are good) with Jill once the DLC is released.

I don't know if he's really such a good assist; given the number of turnarounds i've seen because of 2 character kill X-factor, Sentinel is a sitting duck to supers if used wrong.

btw I think Chun-Li has the longest individual air combo, and Zero has the longest invidual combo overall

Anyone else get noticeable OFFLINE lag?

FUCKING YES! I thought my fight stick was going bad or something, which would be insane because it's a brand new Hori RAP3 and I treat it well. It's like I hit a button and a half second later Dante swings his sword. The funny thing is I never noticed it til about a 2 weeks ago. It wasn't like that when I first got the game.

Apparently the 360 version suffers screen tearing and the PS3 version has frame rate issues. Read this at Shoryuken(dot)com. I honestly thought it had something to do with the update cuz I didn't notice it til after the update.

But right now Dragon Age II has my soul. Haven't really played MVC3 since it came out. Still, I can assume it's still offline laggy....

Yeah, I just picked up MvC3 again for the first time since DA2 came out (and moreso to let my bros get to chapter 3 so that I don't spoil EVERYTHING for them), but I never noticed any offline lag. Either way, once I get done with DA2 (who am I kidding? I'll probably beat the game a couple more times), I'll be up for some games. Tired of beating on online randoms. PSN name: LostProvidence.

Phoenix is a decent character even without Dark Phoenix/X-Factor. Only thing I find hilarious is how Hulk + Sentinel is the go to team whenever people get beat. And nothing's greater than people picking Zero and/or Doom after they get scuffed up by me, only to get scuffed up even worse.

How is picking Phoenix hate mail bait? Quite honestly, its way too easy to snap her in and deal with her.
Some reason people like sending me hatemail whenever I use her and say crap like " cheap ass character" or stuff like that.
I just really hate how she can die from one hulk hyper combo.

My team is pretty much set with Hulk, Sent, Dorm. I've beaten a lot of people with hulk and I just use sent to keep people trapped in the corner. Keep away characters vs hulk is so dam annoying but once I get them trapped and hit them with some air combo's I feel satisfied because I pretty much destroy them with just one long combo. I honestly don't see the problem with sent, I haven't played a sent that I haven't that was too difficult to beat with hulk.

Sentinal just has to much high reward for what he's capable of. He can zone stupidly well, especially with the right assist. One combo is 70% life with 1 meter...your fucked if your in a corner which isn't hard. Up close he has a command grab into combo and super armor insane range. When he's not on point he can be DHC'd in or TAC'd in to make any small combo into a ridiculous one for very little meter. One of the best assists in game period.

His only real cons is he's slow, but makes up for it with zoning and other tactics and he's got a huge hitbox (which is his only real issue).

Sentinal would be fine if his damage out put wasn't so high. He has too many ways to turn any poke into serious damage and doesn't have limitations like hulk who has poor movement and limited zoning capabilities. If you're right in his face with a fast character you can rape him, but the second you get pushed back it's an unfair gamble. Too much reward for too little work and too little meter cost. I really do want to play Sentinal...but I'm kidding myself if I think the character isn't pulling the weight more than my skills.

flow chart sentinal :
  • Is your opponent far? Spam Lasers!
  • Did he jump? j.S!
  • Did they block? j.S again or c.M!
  • Did it hit? click 5 buttons!
  • Are they dead yet? Hyper!
  • Are they dead yet? X factor into Hyper!
Phoenix isn't broke. There's a lot of tactics that destroy her. Dormammu homing fireball hyper is AMAZING against her, especially if you kill normal phoenix with it. I have done so much funny shit with that hyper it's ridiculous. I've had 3 on screen before chasing my enemy down.

That glitch is very situational though, you need to combo them while they have an assist out and also have your clone.

Dawg, still, that situation happens in every game. Okay, maybe not every, but a lot. I'd find it really hard to believe that a good amount of people here don't counter assist with a random hyper. Especially one with invincibility.

I mean it's one thing you throw out your assist and you get blocked. You're assist is gonna eat a super. Now it's like with Zero, you're gonna eat an instant lose.

...the worst thing about all these infinities and glitches is it seems like nothing is gonna get fix til the EVO patch. Thought they would had thrown a patch or to in with the DLC costumes but Capcom really didn't seem to touch it. :\
