Bleh, PS3/Data issues

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I thought I'd give it a shot... Feel free to flame me for being an idiot if this isn't the right place.

I created a new account/profile for online play because my old User ID was stupid. However, when I started playing SC4, I hadn't noticed my PS3 was on the original User Profile. So then when I went to PS3 online play, I switched over, but I had to copy Game Data over as well. Easy, right? I copied over the saved Game Data for Soul Calibur 4 from the system's old default user profile onto this one. Now, when I try to play Soul Calibur 4 on this profile, it says:

"Unable to load data.

This Save data was not crated by your PLAYSTATION Network account or created on a different PS3 system.

Failed to load SOUL CALIBUR IV save data. Press the PS button to quit the game and delete this save data."

Is there any way to transfer this stuff? I don't want to go through and unlock all the characters, build up all that gold, and do my Create-a-Souls all over again, it'd take awhile.

Certain save files are locked for certain games, so there's no need to ignore the inevitable.

The SC4 savegame is locked only to your playstation network id. It doesn't matter what your PS3's user name is... I've transferred my save game from my broken PS3 to my new PS3 without problems, I just had to keep my PSN id.

I've been having this same issue but with a different situation. There are 3 people who use the PS3 in the house. We all played SCIV under one username (mine). We unlocked stuff, created a bunch of CAS and everything, all under my username.

But when we want to play online, we all have to play under my username too, if we want to use all the data we've unlocked/generated in the game. That means anything that someone else does under my username appears to be me - so if they lose a bunch of ranked matches, it's under my record, if they're an asshat online, people think it's me, etc.

We can log on the PS3 as different usernames, but all the CAS/game data is under just one username and the main PSN ID. Why can't people just start up the game with all the unlocked data, then log onto PSN to play online with their own name to play using that data with their own win/loss records, etc.?

Isn't there any way to transfer character/game data to different usernames or PSN sub accounts so this doesn't happen? Like didn't sony and namco know that the PS3 is gonna be shared among people in the household?

I think Namco or Sony shouldn't have locked SCIV account with the PSN account, it does present quite a few problems for a number of people. BUT, I think if you have a SCIV account and never log on the PSN network with it, you can freely share that SCIV account with other people.

Reminds me of how games like Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance didn't even let you copy saves across memory cards.

Okay, my username on my PS3 is dweb22, but my PSN handle is DWeb_22. So if I want to transfer my date to another PS3, then I have to create a profile called DWeb_22 for it to load on the other PS3?

The idea behind locking PS3 saves is so that people can't exploit TROPHIES; not all games have trophies, so not all save files are locked. Thats why all save files on the 360 are locked; so that people cant exploit Achievements (people have figured out ways to hack them though). The fact that the SC4 save file for the PS3 is locked, lends to the thinking that Namco originally wanted to retro-patch trophies into it; but changed their minds.

So the answer to my question is..........

I could care less about my trophies and what not. How's your day Jaxel?

The answer is there is no way around it unless you use your old psn. If you dont want to do that you will have to start again.

Your data is corrupted, all you can do is delete it. I got that message for no damn reason a few months ago, and I had to completely start over.

It's not corrupted, just locked to the PSN account that it was created under. But yes, you need to delete it since you can't use it if you haven't done so already.

My PS3 died about a month ago (yellow light of death). I had an SCIV save backed up on an SD card - it's the first thing I do after I make a new CAS or something equally time consuming in the game. Sony did the warranty swap and gave me a different, working PS3 within a week - whether it was new or refurbished I have no idea. I just know they didn't just fix mine and send it back because the serial number on the back was different.

First thing I did was make my same username, install SCIV, re-grab all the DLC for it that I had already bought, then started it up so that it could patch itself and generate a save file. Basically, get the game up to the same point it had been at before the PS3 died. Then I quit the game, swapped the newly generated save file with my backed up one from the SD card, started up the game and it loaded the save perfectly. It was such a relief, I didn't think it'd work and I'd have to make all my CAS and stuff all over again.

So yes, the game data is based on user ID and not the console itself. I think part of the reason for this is that different PSN IDs will have different amounts of DLC and such. Let's say your friend has the LE version of SCIV and has a bunch of maids and schoolgirls in his CAS, also some santa suits. He also has a couple SCI music tracks downloaded and configured to play on certain stages. So now you want to load up his save on your normal edition SCIV game. If the game allowed you to load that save on your normal edition SCIV with nothing downloaded, the save would be telling your game to load up and configure stuff that it doesn't have downloaded or installed, ie. the maids/schoolgirls/santas/music.

This is not so bad.
Years ago i played this DBZ game with a pal we had only one pad and one memory card so we unlocked tons of MOVES.
For that we had to to buy all 7 Dragonballs that appeared randomically in the shitty popo shop.
They were the most expensive.
With those we went to this worm who randomically gave us moves hopefully for the character we wanted.
I never restarted a PS that often.

Then we got another pad, wanted to play VS and realized the data and unlockables and MOVES were binded to...
PLAYER ONE because of the memory card.

Then we organized a 2nd memory card and tried to copy the Data but it said...
NO! YOU CAN'T!!!
One of my shittiest game experiences ever.
