So after turning on my PS3, awhile later my PS3 froze and shuts down. After hearing 3 beeps, I glanced towards my PS3 and noticed the red light blinking.

You're getting the YLOD. Get your data off asap. And look into getting a replacement.

thank you, and by replacement you mean a brand new PS3? Couldn't I get Sony or some other repair shop to fix that?

YLOD is rarely fixed - but you might be lucky. On an extremely rare occasion it can rectify itself. Doubt it though.

You can fix it. But generally they only last maybe 3 more months before they break again. And every time you try fix it again after that the intervals get shorter and shorter. So yeah. You pretty much have to get a new one.
