Top Talim Moves

Just for the noobs. What are your top ten moves and why? You can split it into Top 5 primary and the another 5 secondary moves.

I'm sure we all have a similar arsenal but it would be good to know how you utilize it.

For me:

Top 5 Primary Moves

2A+B - great move up close, transition into WL.
FC3BB - My main launcher
WL A - Great low, greatest improvement to Talim
AA6BA - My pressure move, transition into WC
AS A+B - My move for closing the distance

Secondary Moves

1A+B - Tech crouch and launch.
11KA - Low and moves forward, decent damage as well
AS A - Great mix up
BB - Staple move
236B - Massive launch and RO

WL A - starts a staple combo
WC A+G_B+G - delicious throw leaves you at BT
6B+K A+B - good to close distance
WS A - nice WS punisher and RO

secondary
236B - nice launcher, delayable
4B - nice pressure
33A - good damage and RO range
A+G - RO throw
6K - I throw this randomly at tip range, fishing for CH. still better than 3K IMO

what do you think? advice? ;)
 
I can't believe I forgot 4BB.... I'll think I'll switch it in for the multi-throw because it is too important for her.

236B - favorite launcher
99_B (Delay) B - another good launcher
2A+B - good low attack

I suppose my top 10 would look like this:
(in no particular order...)

2A - great interruptor, gives slight adv. and good setup for a throw/2K/FC 3BB mixup
22_88B - excellent whiff punisher after quick stepping, launches, goes into WL or WS. severly unsafe on it's own
22_88K - fast, tech jumps and tech steps at the same time, plus it's safe. Invaluable against spacing for my style of play
2A+B - decent move to lead into WS or WL, great against grounded opponents or as a combo ender
11_77KA - one of Talim's faster lows, is a natural combo on hit, and hits grounded as well
WS (while standing) A - 2nd slowest WS punisher, but still fast, knockdown, RO to her left, mid step-killer, etc... iWS version is amazing
66B - staple long range whiff punisher, tech jumps, knockdown, decent soul gauge damage, good for closing gaps, etc...
WC throw - good damage in strings, her best option to condition people to crouch, since WC A+K is rather slow.
4BB - NCC, stuns on CH, good delay window, GB version is her best soul gauge damage, leads to guaranteed grounded damage
AS A - good for surprising people, guaranteed WC AA on hit & WC AAB on CH, tech traps, severly unsafe on block though.
 
Alright, well I learned it. But for those in this forum (if there are any) who haven't learned it yet, here's a simple guide for the numbers:

A = Horizontal Attack (X360 = X, PS3 = Square)
B = Vertical Attack (X360 = Y, PS3 = Triangle)
K = Kick (X360 = B, PS3 = Circle)
G = Guard (X360 = A, PS3 = X)

I only have played probably about 30 matches total using Talim in my 2 years competitive experience of SCIV, but she's fun as balls to use. You will piss people off if you win, because no one wants to lose to a super friendly 15-year-old. So here's my top 5 moves for Talim.

6A+B - I love this move, because it looks like Talim pulls a Voldo for a brief second. Spam this shit all day or go home.

1A+B - Broken! This shit will tech-crouch certain mids. The best part is that if you turn on Japanese voice acting and use this move, she yells "DAMMIT!"

AS KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK - I know this really isn't a move, but duuuuuuuude, this is the best stuff to use on Calibur beginners so they'll learn about ring outs.

66B - Oh my god, this is the greatest fucking move ever in the history of anything. You cannot ask for a better move than one that just literally just punches the shit out of the opponent's brain. Good frames on block and wrecks a gauge, but it's so linear that even Jabba the Hut could step it.

66b-catches back step, tech jumps and leads to a combo on natural hit. I use this move a lot against certain characters (algol, asty)

4a-I know I know. I tend to use 4a by itself and follow with 6a+b for a forceblock (they will never step)

66a-great move, sure I dnt need to explain this one.

11ka/1k-I use 1k just as much as 11ka

aa/bb/6b/2a/2k -staple moves/pokes/watever

22_88k-great at the end of the match to avoid that whole b/2k bs mixup situation

33a-although unsafe, this move is still good. I use this the most as a running mixup with fac3 slide.

6a+b-sure I dnt need to explain this one either

But of course I play a relatively unsafe talim.

I would say that I just mess around when using her. In all honesty, I almost never go into training mode with characters that I don't use. The only Talim combo I know how to do is 66B > 2A+B. I still can't do 66A > AS A properly, which is sad. I was doing the same with Voldo the other day in casuals.

With Talim though, I find that you can play a pretty solid basic game with her. I think she has good throws, nice mids, and a great post GI game with 66A.
 
Yeah, I guess to a degree she can be played at a basic level. But you really start to see her lack of damage in doing so since her damage comes mostly off of higher-risk moves. Her post-GI options are very good though as well as post-step options.

Throws too as they leave her in a good position for wakeup.

Overall, she's just plain fun to use.

Its definately not cuz she's broken :-P

And 66b 2a+b is all u need
Everything else is just aesthetix
