So I have bene fighting one of my co-workers regularly who plays Xiba, I know how to counter most of his combos.

However let's see, I know I can get a 1K after what I think is his 6BK to punish it, any better moves to use there?

I keep being stupid and standing up in the middle of his spinny thing, where it whirls around, I need to counter this. I know there is no cure for stupidity but yeah.

I can regularly deliver some decent high low mixup and predict his high low mixups, unfortunately I end up being guard broke, likely cause I guard too much. At least I am guarding successfully i figure.....

Sadly at the end of our matches the score usually ends up 3 to 12, the actual battles won and lost are more even, more like 30 to 20 in his favor.

He is pretty good at not using overly unsafe moves, if he does then I do like to punish him with a 88BAK combo, it is bad to rely on but seems to hit pretty solid, there are better options though when I get the window right? like the 4B stuff?

Any help or tips would be appreciated. I think I rely too much on AA, BB, 4AB, 11AA, Angel Step A and Angel step B :P

I watched it a few times, but even when it is cached it freezes and does not show me it right at some points.

It looks like I need to learn to just guard though. :P

ah .. probably need to upgrade your computer ;P ... or view at a lower quality

just guard isn't too difficult with certain moves ... it's especially easy with 6bk / 6ak ... the kick comes out so late and the move can't be delayed.

xiba in general is pretty linear with a lot of his moves ... especially with the heavy guard breaking moves. I'm sure your friend uses 6bk a lot, which is a very heavy guard breaker ... which is why I broke it down in the video.

Well my computer is pretty darned fast, I watch anime on crunchyroll in 1080 resolution streamed all the time - but i have suspected for a while that I might need to reinstall flash, will try that. It looks like you have all of the major moves covered though...

What is a good anti xiba combo or mind game?

If he relies on those low sweep moves Pyrrha's 9K can hop over them and attack at the same time. When in his face BB and 6BK are both good. For sidestepping an 88_22K is probably safer than 88_22BAK cause if you whiff that you're in trouble. 88K puts them in stun on counter hit which can easily be followed with 236B.

Okay I will see if I can do that, thank you... I saved one on my xbox, can I just copy that off and upload it? Of course I won against a B2 in that video, rather proud of how the idiot fell for 44KAB :P

u can always interrupt 6bk with 1a...i believe. 1k is slow.

1A is a lot slower than 1K, and if you're going to interrupt 6BK/6AK, it should be with AA as it's Pyrrha's fastest move.

Aside from kB, his lows aren't that hard to see and are punishable on block with 236B:4 if he doesn't space them properly. Even if he does, you have enough time to stab Xiba after jumping 1A, the second hit of 33A and 3A+B_1A+B. Basically kB needs to be used a lot more than it currently is. i22, only -7 on block and +1 on hit. You don't get anything for jumping it, but it is very linear so keep that in mind.

Yeah, I usually have enough frames to do a BB, of course if I can get a BB in I can get a 3b, 234b4 in correct?

I have to go practice that move a lot!!! Tonight I did better by the way, but not against my friend, in random matchups I won 42 matches lost 33, overall pleased at the improvement.

sorry. meant 2a not 1a...this number notation still gets me a little confused sometimes.

definitely 2a. aa will get you counter hit.

Yeah, I just tested it and you're correct. I forgot that Xiba could delay the K and if he does, your AA isn't gonna work.

Xiba isn't that linear imo, his 6a(knocks down on counter into k followup combo), aak (ncc hit confirm, rings out) while both high's discourage stepping very well from mid range. his jump on the pole spin around move even though its a vertical seems to have pretty good tracking too, and the actual pole spin attack tracks very well also. His high followup from his b+k followup will track as well and comes out sorta quickly, especially in an oki situation.

i think xiba is very annoying, but how annoying you find him ultimately comes down to your ability to punish. he out damages you pretty well, can ring you out much better than you can him, and can really damage you for a predictable step and put you in an oki situation.

you have to punish his spin pole move and either just guard or 2a interrupt his 6bk/6ak strings, as the kick does significant guard bar damage. not to mention the threat of his very damaging auto gi super...

6a is high, aak is also high. aak is easily duckable and the last hit is easily punishable.

while 6a alone isn't bad, the k is easily jG'able ... and he gets killed when you do.

but I do think his low is very good, I forgot the notation ... he pokes your foot and you get stunned on normal hit.

Huh, yeah I will try out 2a to interrupt it tonight, good idea, also there are lots of good stuff here..

I need to learn more about Pyrrahs kicks, she seems to use some in combos, her 4k tracks really well too. 1k is fast and good damage. 2k is just dang fast. Any other kicks have some good properties or any good combos I should use that involve them? the 66k seems trumped by 66b personally, but it switches up her game and what people see.

2k is actually kinda "slow" at i15 ... but it is her fastest low. I DO wish it had an early tc ... I can't express how many times I've been grabbed out of 2a and 2k in this game .... :raging:

66k is good to launch in quick situations ... 66b ... she's jumping, but it has zero tj frames ... I've been grabbed and hit low out of pretty much every part of the animation. I wish that had tj properties as well ... being so slow and shit. -_-

this match is tough for me, even though i know what to punish. xiba's damage and guard crush pressure are tough to deal with, and he gets a pretty big reward for a predicted step at mid range.

his stances aren't really that tough to deal with but his lows can't really be ignored, and you cant always punish his 3b, which if hits gives him 70+ (wat.) damage and an oki situation.

3bkk is definitely one of his most annoying & best moves...if you do not punish this EVERY TIME you wont win. he can also go into his b+k stance off it and hit you with a safe mid launcher that leads into solid damage and another mixup situation if you guess duck too often. in addition even though this move is a vertical it has a huge hitbox and pretty decent tracking too, it's quite difficult to step.
