Cervantes Q&A / General Discussion

BT B+K stun is shakeable, the only guaranteed attacks out of BT B+K is BBB and iGDR. Anything slower (3B) is not guaranteed.
.

I think you missed the patch, anything till i21ish is guaranteed. iGDR, 66B,BBB,3B, 1BB, 1AB. 1BB and 3B were new additions with the patch.

I'm with doc on this. It's simply a bug as you can clearly see them instant blocking soon after getting hit by BT B+K. But it can possibly be something with axis but I haven't been able to reproduce it yet.

It's not shakeable as I've tried to recover millions of times with the different shakeout methods and nothing.

Btw I dreamed about discovering new Cervy hidden moves. Maybe that's a sign I will find what's causing this random bug (If it is.). :P

Ah well, good to know in any case. I figured that maybe the patch increased the stun time but made that stun time shakeable too or something weird like that. In any case, thanks for testing!
Combining a blocked 33B with 44B and 4A or 44A leads to a solid trap for the opponent where they're forced into a guessing game. If they attempt to step they could eat 44A or 4A, if they attempt to retaliate post 33B, they can eat 44B. If they sit and block, they eat guard damage.
A resounding "hell yes" to 44A! As I said in my post in the Under-used moves thread, I've grown quite fond of this move. Unfortunately, it is i28, so you'll be extremely susceptible to a quick interrupt, even though 33B leaves you at only -3 on block. It might even be interruptable or back-step-able on reaction, since none of Cervantes's attacks that have a similar-looking startup animation (4A, 4aB, etc) impact at faster than i28, and while 44A uber-safe at only -6 on block, 44B is a quite punishable -16. Of course, I suppose it really depends on your spacing with the 33B. I know from abusing it that 44B doesn't get punished too often due to pushback, for instance. In any case, I'll have to play around with this setup myself.

Yea I'm pretty sure it's not shakeable lol "BT B+K" Never has been, never will.

That being said does anyone think they will change the fact that GDR is in the air and it shouldn't be hit by lows, along with the fact that Ezio's Low arrow shouldn't be able to be GI'd aginst Cervys B+K. BECAUSE THEY CAN!!!!!

Has anyone else run into the glitch where you shoot them with CE while they're in the middle of a move, they clearly get hit and are on fire, but they don't get knocked down or take damage? This has happened to me twice now, against mitsu and zwei.

I had that once, I ended up sitting there dumbfounded trying to wrap my head around it and sat there while the guy pounded me for the round.

After it happened the first time against mitsu we tried to reproduce it in practice mode using the same 2 moves and couldn't. He was just as surprised as I was lol.

Yes it happens when they clash in the same frame, its not a glitch i guess. Also its reprducable with the right setup all the time, so no random stuff.

Another question: if you land 3B near the edge, what's the best meterless follow up you can do to get an RO?

I normally use 66A to get a RO, but im not entirely sure if thats the best solution. In SC4 3B 3B was legit, dont know if this still works.

Something worth testing.

I've been thinking of making a study thread about his RO game for a while but don't know. Don't get me wrong, I've been wondering why there's isn't one since this kind of information is worth to have it posted.

I was actually shocked to find out gdr doesn't go over lows as he's clearly off the ground, i was trying to use it to go over ground quakes and obviously failed untill i went in to practice mode and was sad face.

Yeah I got Nightmare quake stunned out of 4B EX the other day, I was pretty pissed. Whatever, he's still a good character. If you can hit iGDR.

There's no matchup thread for Viola yet? I can't find one anyway, don't wanna make a new thread, it's not my SA. But I think that's a PRETTY important matchup thread to have, lol. Make sure you're stepping her 44A EX to the right, but don't run back into the ball. So far, all I've got is that if she does 44A EX and blocks in place, aB will catch her block at the very tip. Will Viola stand still and guard after 44A EX? NOT LIKELY. But just to give you an idea of the range you're working with. If you move forward AT ALL after the sidestep, you will get hit.

Even if you just step it and take back your mid range, you're in good shape. Seems to be where you want to fight her when the orb is out, mid range.

Yup. The thing to remember is that Geo Da Ray Conclusion is simply not airborne. Cervantes is never considered "jumping", "launched", or anything of the sort. This means that you can be grabbed, hit by lows, guard-impacted into a normal standing state, and moves that only launch standing/crouching opponents but don't re-launch airborne ones (e.g. Cervantes's 3B) will launch you like normal. Thus, the best way to think of iGDR is actually as a "running forward" move, a bit like Astaroth's bull-rush.

Of course, since it's not airborne, I suppose that also means characters like Cervantes cant use tools like, say, b2 to catch you out of the air and get the full attack-throw (speaking of which, 2b-ing Yoshimitsu out of his hovering Dragonfly stance is fun as hell). It also means that if two iGDRs hit each other and don't clash, the result will be a hilarious super-high double-launch!

Yea, see it's not good the way it is. It's obv it needs to go over lows. :/ Nuff said. I'm calling it a glitch.

And Technically it is airborn guys. Try doing B+K Mirror match with Cervy. B+K only launches opp in air in response if the attack is a TJ.

Wait... for reals? I thought Cervy's B+K did the air-shot against normal GDR but not against iGDR... maybe iGDR is only considered airborne during its active frames? As in, after the grounded i17 startup?

Damnit, now I gotta hit the lab again... Oh well, final exams can go suck it.

That matchup goes in Cervantes' favor if you know what to do. If the thread ever gets created I'll be more than happy to share my knowledge. :)

I actually think she is maybe the only negative MU, interesting. I'll try to start a thread when i have time.

That bitch is retarded, she is the SC4 Ivy in SC5 :P A billion setups, retarded Damage, this will be THE matchup to learn, since everyone and their mother got a pocket Viola now...but im untrained against her, i know how to play her myself, but no idea what to do with cervy against her. Im sure Hates knows some stuff due to Ceirnians Viola..

It was my next matchup to analyze, so i will create a thread with the basic infos etc, so everyone can share.
