CAS I have made...

I feel like this is off topic so I hesitate to post ....
but.... lately little bits of Soul Calibur have been showing up in other parts of my life.... I, like a few others on the board draw . Usually my stuff has no relationship with the game ... I don't do character work....so the other day I was surprised to find this connection.
I have been into these weird pattern things ... and specifically working small ....(2.5" x 3" playing card size) in one of them there was a kind of tile to it , and, I realized I drew a pattern right from the game! (Sorry it is kind of hard to read I used matte and gloss to define some things and metallic pen which does not scan well. don't judge me by this peice ... lol )

Your War is possibly my favorite yet!!!!
I really liked the idea of making him look more modern, while still keeping the ancient and intimidating look, almost as if he were a machine crafted by the abyss itself (A deus ex machina if you will...seems fitting to me). I would have never dreamed the firefighter costume would be used in such a great manner. It almost makes me want to buy it.
 
You have a way to do creative haircuts that never cease to amaze me.
I like all your CAS a lot, though i would like to see them fleshed out with some more details, but you are so productive it is easily understandable ;o)...

but with the detail thing... I like them to look clean and ... like a cartoon. I'm not really going for realism or ornate detail.
... I guess I just like them simple :) even given more time ... they wouldn't be different.
I mean that mainly for the comic book and anime recreations, I can think of other genera that lend themselves to detail.... like ... every once and a while I go on a gore kick :) but these are pretty much how I want them. I can see why they wouldn't be to everyone's taste though. I see a few different sensibilities running through the board and mine is not the most ... common.
...and some of them are deceptive there was a Robin I did a while back .... and he seemed simple but he was a real bastard to make! I think he was one of the hardest things I have ever done... and he looked like a breeze...
.... I feel like the following is a shameless plug... (but it actually kind of terrifies me)....
There seem to be many reasons people are here to create things ... for me I like the game of it, sometimes.... the creativity end of this for me doesn't come so much from the creations themselves, but the mental process I go through while creating. Sorry if any of that seemed defensive ... I'm not really.... and you have a valid point .... I think I just felt like writing and sharing a little bit.

It did not felt defensive at all, don't worry ;o)
I liked to explain my choices as well when i did my CAS, and had just as much extensive prep work (and sometimes artwork as well, some of which i posted).
But your gallery of twisted characters and patterns really appeals to me...i used to draw that kind of dark souls as well, but those are incredibly detailed, and not at all cartoony, all in all very impressive...i love it !
Maybe i'll share some of mine in my thread sometimes...

This is art, no doubt about it, thanks for sharing
 
Chobek, would either of you mind letting me know how you made the cross pattern on the knight on page 3?

thanks, and let me give you a tip, you can go from Grand to Awesome on your Grievious with the predator helmet (see, i know my Chobek by heart ;o)

I believe we colored the item red and then used white stickers to make the borders of the cross... but I will double check and re-post if I discover I was wrong.

Yeah... with all this new equipment there are a lot of things to remake or at least re-visit! In the Latest pack there is a body suit that will turn RED.
