The perfect SC game

First thing: sorry for my horrible English. I'm a Real Fan and playing this beloved game since Soul Edge. Many People complain about the different SC episodes: missing characters and the fighting system. In my opinion what we need in the next SC is: ALL existing stuff from the previous episodes (Soul Edge, Soul Blade, Soul Calibur
II, Soul Calibur III, Soul Calibur IV, Soul Calibur V and Soul Calibur Broken Destiny). ALL Stages, ALL Characters included Guest Chars, ALL weapons, ALL Music, ALL 1p and 2p costumes, ALL Customization item and the Museum.
The Fighting System: when you choose your Character you could choose which episode's moves you want ( I really hate to re-learn my Character in every new episode). For example Tira, you could choose her moveset from SCIII, SCIV or SCV. I prefer her SCIV moveset so I would choose that. I know its not a simple Idea but it is not impossible and EVERY SC players would be pleased. So Nothing New Stuff but the Whole Previous. What you think Guys?

As much fan service as this would provide it would fail in multiple ways beyond development agreeing to do it:

Balance: This is what absolutely kills this idea as it presents FAR too much data too process as each character gains slight differences to keep track of and mechanics fully change. SC2 characters would do great simply with 2G and old Gi. There's far too much going on and balance would be impossible to sustain. Even an agreed upon mechanic set would result in moves being OP or useless as they are outside their original intent.

Developing: Too much. That's a LOOOOOOT of work and would be a mess of a game for the effort. Plus the sheer amount of complaining over anything missed would be intolerable (I wanted to choke everyone all through out SC5s release...i would stab people over this)

These titles already exist: As cool and as fond memories as we have, FGs are evolving and we need to move forward with what we learn. If we want to go back, those games already exist. My SC4 Ivy has no business beating up SC5 Ivy, but i have SC4 and i can play a game meant for her design.

If you want a throw back combo pack...do it MK style. Rewrite the shitty story (yes SCs story is terribad) and give it a sensible make over. Condense the characters into a moveset which is familiar and find a middle point in mechanics with some new tech. Paying tribute and expanding is better than going back and doing what's been done.

Yeah I agree with IvyFanBoy~
As cool as that would sound...it would create horrible balance issues...Especially if they made online available.
Each SC has its own gift to offer and you have to love the difference in each game~And yes I would want this but...We have to embrace the new...regardless if we miss the old.( tears up as he looks at Cassy and Sophie)

I'd like to see all the characters come back with just an amazing story that ties them in along with some interesting modes + character creation. I don't really mind having or not having the current engine back to SCII without the guard and walk thing however. But stuff like team battle coming back (and online modes).

I like this idea but I also agree with IvyFanBoy about the prospect of having a reboot of not just the series but also a complete makeover for the storyline itself (because, there are some things in the story that just doesn't make sense to me) as well as other factors. I will give you one thing though about using SCII mechanics and ultimate fanservice.

You know, I've been kind of outspoken about how bad I thought SCs story was, but after reading the wiki, it's actually fairly good. And by fighting game standards I think it's really good.

This idea is completely implausible, but I think they could conceivably do a soul calibur tag tournament style game and throw in all the characters with no story mode. (Just one version of each though.) I'd pay for that.

I whole heartingly agree. SC5's story was good on paper but horribly excecuted and I feel that SC has lost the atmosphere it once had. Characters killed off for no reason, boring 1Dimentional new characters... chriminy. Now, do I say reset the mythology? No. Keep what we have so far but rewrite it. Change a few character alliances, add more planning and depth. SC2 mechanics, SC3 Speed, SC4's darker atmosphere. SC5's cutscenes = Perfect to me. I mean, I do believe a reboot would be a perfect lean for this series, because I feel it just isnt going anywhere especially with the last generation of characters. Not to mention the atmosphere lost after SC3 set growing further and further out of the middle ages into a fantasy of psuedo history and now the story doesnt even seem to be going anywhere at all for the vet characters. I mean Cervantes and Maxi are useless now.

Tight and responsive mechanics in a fighter are always a must, but I was pulled into the series for it's story and characters, the single player content was always the main focus for me. In this game though characters just sort of disappear from the story when they have absolutely no reason to- looking at you, Tira- and the constant use of the word Malfested made me want to stab myself in the damn ear. Would it have hurt them to just say "monster" from time to time instead of wearing out their stupid ass term for soul-edge related monstrosities? Anyways, could have been worse, but definitely could have been leagues better... and I thought using the word "Bitch" over "Loathsome Cur" was totally out of place. The lack of so much as individual stories for the characters means that players might as well ignore every character who isn't one of Sophitia's children outside of using them as templates for their own original character's fighting styles.

Even if their stories were absurd, continuity clashing alternatives, the Star Wars characters were given flimsy reasons to exist in the world of Soul Calibur as well as goals to give some context to their conflicts(besides collecting more clothing and jewelry). Ezio is just another skin on a a fighter in versus mode.

It looks as if Soul Calibur is eventually going to become a weapons-based Virtua Fighter.
I would have liked Pyrrha as a more corrupted, arrogant demi-villain like Sasuke started out to be, rather then a lost little wuss the entire time. It's just poorly written, doesn't answer anything and doesn't flesh out any of the new characters the way SC3 did. If they're going to make reskins of characters have their own slots on character select and say its because of the story? Hell, there aren't even profile sections for them anymore.

Pyrrha might not have been, but Patroklos kind of was a twisted villain in the story until he had the face heel turn into boring Marty Stu protagonist.
It would've been better if Patroklos was the villain and Pyrrha was the hero. We would've all rooted for Pyrrha to go from being scared and unwilling to fight to actually finding the courage to confront Tira and stop Patroklos. I would've bought that over what Project Soul had given us despite it being 1/4 of their original plan.

If I were to redeisgn Soul Calibur, I'd want to go with a more old fashioned European middle ages look. The thing I felt was missing was this, I mean I feel like SC is straying away from it's rooted envision and theme that was in SC1.
A Renaissance Soul Calibur IMO would be so much more asthetically more pleasing to see the series go, for a psuedo-historical tale based around real history and less anime-fantasy junk. Look at these unused artworks of Ivy.If they were to do this then the "Tale of Souls and swords eternally retold" would actually have some sense to apply with it.

This outfit is the best example. though it has the animeish exaggeration and "badassness" but it still references somewhat pseudo-realism designs. In general I think thats what Soul calibur is heavliy missing as a series... the pseudo-realism to the asthetics, design and the story itself. Soul Calibur 3 had it somewhat, SC2 had it and Soul Blade had a lot of it. SCv took that all away and none of the new characters at all resemble historical elements... just random anime stereotypes.

Change a few character alliances, add more planning and depth. SC2 mechanics, SC3 Speed, SC4's darker atmosphere. SC5's cutscenes = Perfect to me. I mean.

That could truly work. Have some characters like Sophitia, Rock, Hwang, and even Setsuka re-imagined and joining the dark side. Now for the features:

SC2 mechanics: YES!
SC3 speed: YES!
SC4's dark atmosphere: DOUBLE YES!
SC5's cutscenes: NO!

I rather watch characters in motion during cutscenes versus seeing them in a sepia drawings that one of the developers drew themselves for the storyboard. Other than that, we may have a Soul Calibur game that we may ALL will enjoy.

SC5 did have motion cutscenes which was what I meant.

I LOOOVE this idea. I'm sure if the game you mentioned exists, we would all be patient for 2 1/2 years, wouldn't we guys? (Also agree with IFB, that's why I said this)

Soul Calibur Generations FTW!!!

Hmmm. The perfect game ehh?

SC2 Mechanics
SC3 Single Player Content (Edge Master, Mission Mode, Tag Team, Gallery, etc.)
SC4 Atmosphere with a slight edge of Soul Blade
SC5 Gameplay, of course
SB-esque opening and various soundtracks

Now as far as Creation, story, and the characters themselves, those are other topics I can discuss some place else, but........pretty much what I stated above.

Oh yeah..........Name it Soul Edge 2. lmao
