Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate

I'm surprised at the general inactivity of this thread. Did you all not know there was a DOA5 E3 Tournament that was streamed live?

One/two tournaments for each day of E3. Likewise, June 7 (Today) will be the last DOA5 tournament. I think they mentioned it will be happening 10AM PST?

http://www.twitch.tv/ipldoa/

It's the finals, where the top 8 got in: sWooZie, Kayane, Vanessa, Master, Black Mamba, Chosen1, and two other fellows whose names I forgot.

EDIT: sWooZie, Kayane, Vanessa, Master, Black Mamba, Chosen1, DYoshi, Jovany Zuniga

Amy defies all logic. Her 66A+B can lift a golem like Astaroth. That is some bullshit up logic right there lol.

Kokoro imho is probably gonna be those ladies that aesthetically doesn't look as tough gameplay wise, but will have amazing frames and wtf bs logic. However, that's my scrubby opinion on defending my lovely Kokoro haha. ^^;

Historically, Kokoro is beginner friendly. Apparently Itagaki liked the fighting style Akira had and wanted to incorporate it in DOA without the high learning curve. Thus we got Kokoro. In previous DOA games, her move list was rather limited, though she did have the signature 3part throw (it was her toughest move in her list). She had a lot of miss so she ended up being a bit weaker than some of the other characters because she was rather easy to counter. Anyway it'll be interesting to see where they take Kokoro and what they add to her.

you make it sound like Kokoro was in other DOA games besides 4. but that's just me nitpicking. i don't think she's really beginner friendly for the fact that she can be countered easily. that fact that she doesn't have much knockdown power is a double edged sword. in the hands of a really good Kokoro player that is deadly. in the hands of a beginner it's an easy way to counter her back. her 3 part grab was excellent but could also be cheap in a sense. (i only used it if someone got on my nerves with something) it was the only multi-part standing grab in the game that couldn't be broken. if i get Pai Chan and Jahn lee back then i will officially have my dream team.

Sounds like you played Kokoro at a pro level or at least at a semi-pro level. Question I have for you: Is her 3 move throw like Kilik's asura dance? Like could it create opportunities?

Thanks for the vids, I was looking for them earlier but couldn't find them

I actually already knew about this. But me being nooby in forums, I didn't want to double post x__x

Awesome matches, really. Master Hayabusa is sick!
Kayane was amazing too. She must be playing SCV almost every single day (MLG) and did very well in this tournament. Sick Kasumi.

Such a shame that we didn't see any high level Lei Fang/Tina matches. =(

Welp. live stream done now.
That was just amazing. awesome stream.
(Side note: Do you guys think the tourney final was staged? I doubt it.)

Haha. That's a tough call. In their defense, they have a really significant reason that leads me to believe they didn't stage it: they play each other sooo often that it's really difficult to get into that competitive mindset.

If they did stage it, it wouldn't even matter since the money is going to both of them. So either way.

In any case, I think it's a combination of both: they weren't as hungry to win against each other because they know the money is theirs anyways, and even if they wanted to play competitively, it would be hard to get into that right mindset.

lol. sWooZie definitely wasn't practising much for this tournament, but that's fine because it wasn't too serious of a tournament. But if that's all he has to offer then he better cut down on being a YouTube celebrity and focus on being a DOA player.

Kayane did a wonderful job as well. Was she was playing SC5 throughout EVO [edit] E3?

Can't say I'm sure about if she was in EVO. I could already tell the final fight wasn't going to be as intense as when Master and Black Mamba were fighting. I really enjoyed seeing Kayane, because it was awesome seeing her be a master at another characters main when they fought :P I just really loved that live stream. I loved how annoying the commentators were at times (When Kat went "EEEEEEEEEEE").

Oops. I meant to ask if she was playing SCV throughout E3.

In any case, I'm really looking forward to this game. I haven't been this excited to play a video game in so long. I also really enjoyed that stream: the Kasumi mirror match between sWooZie and Kayane was pretty good, but the match that definitely took the cake was the Hitomi mirror match between Black Mamba and Vanessa.

Kat's adorable too. She needs more sleep though hahaha.
