SCV Ivy Video Thread

44B+K is something I've been messing around with. Not a lot of people use it, for good reason. If they know how to step it, its pretty much nigh unusable 90% of the time. If they don't however, it guard breaks in SEVEN. Not to mention, on NH (the rare times it does hit on NH), it can combo up to 99 damage with no meter.

I've been messing around with 44BK too, and I've found it can be useful on wakeup. After getting 6B8 in the air, or 1K.

If they don't roll to the side, you'll at least hit them... if they get up guarding low, you'll get the launch. If they block it, you can block confirm the extension... so if they try to step it, they'll still likely get hit.

A lot of people (including myself) try to JG the third hit of B+K, and instead get hit by it. The JG has kinda strange timing for this one. I'd say it's still a pretty safe move.

It's not the third hit JG you could fear.
It's the second.

If the second one is Jg then he can stand still to make that 3rd whiff and punish you with CE. And that range is pretty much every character.

Just a little something to keep this thread alive;

Question; how do you guys manage 5hit JF online? I can only do it when I'm playing against someone from my country on a great connection, anything worse and the game runs slower, the JF timing is different then. It's really frustrating.

Why to use 22B ?
I just don't understand the positive side of this move. Is a KND that interresting ?
Why to use it over 3B, 22[ B] or even simple BB ?

1K ? 214 B ? You don't use them at all ?
Same question for A+B A.

Thx

I liked 22B since the very beginning. Yeah, it's not her greatest move but it's very safe (-6 if I remember well) and very fast and with a KND, I use it as a whiff punisher. I don't use a lot of 22(B) because I can't do 5-hit JF online, so I feel like most of the time it's not worth risking with it for 50 dmg with regular BBB when normal 22B is faster and safer, though I do sacrifice about 10pts of damage.

1K is the same story as SC4. People complain about it online so I don't use it a lot, also on some connections the game runs in a lower FPS rate which makes 1K easy to block online (this is also the reason why 5hit JF timing changes depending on a connection). As for 214B I use it a lot in some matchups.

A+B A I'm not sure about this move. It's theoretically "safe" but can be jumped or Just Guarded and punished. I refrain from using multi hit combinations like that on block (except B+K). The reward for hitting the opponent with it is also not so good. What's so good about this move in SC5?

There are still many moves that I try to use but forget about them eg iWS A+B or iWS B+K.

WS B+K is very interesting. It's hard to JG the second hit and it's safe on block (-13 but you can move away from the opponent during the animation, some CE will still punish it though)

Only through the will of the gods. XD

Someone wanted a guard break at 1:30 lol. Also after a JG 1B BE is a lot of the times gauranteed. I presonally don't like using 1B BE like that because if you happen to lose that round you have no meter and you opponent has 2 which makes round 4/5 a tough one.
Nice job spacing siegfried out like that. one Question though, how can you react to a dancing Siegfried. This pretty much always gets me.

On the 5hit JF. I have no clue how do to it offline but pressing B at the moment the whip hits the ground seems to work on a regular basis.

I'm I the only one that feels sorry for Yoshimitsu in a match-up VS Ivy?

Yoshi vs Ivy is not that bad for Yoshimitsu. My problem with 5hit JF is that I can do it with no problems offline but online the timing varies depending on a connection so I usually fail at it, unless the connection is perfect.

I was playing mindgames on that guy all the time, and eventually every time I got close to him he would duck. So I abused 1B BE because it's her only fast threatening mid. As for Siegfried, I play him myself so I know how to counter his stuff. You can't really react to his stance low/mid mix-up though, you need to guess.

During flight :K: is punishable by 1 BB ~Lick for 67. 214B can be punished with lick for 40. This makes yoshi's sweep game dangerous vs Ivy.
9 B+K can be punished mid-move by lick.

All during sit moves can be punished by either CH 2A+B (The A and K mix-up) or licked. (B) And you can tell if it's B when yoshi flashes blue. Also when yoshi's GI you out his sitting stance you can dodge him by using 8 A+B B.

You can lick yoshi out 66 B+K A+B. If he goes reverse he's save but doing something else is dinner time even if he only does 66 B+K. All moves where he goes up are punishable by lick.

This pretty much makes sure I have a huge edge over any yoshi.

Hey I have a question , How come Ivy didn't keep her original CE dialogue. Instead of '' I'll Treat You Right '' its '' I'll Teach You To Behave '' . Anybody know why they changed it?

OK....understandable :^( . But I have one more question. How come they took away her move when she spinned in the air like a ballerina. To see what im talking about check the first page bottom video Fast Forward to 1:20

I think that's actually an early version of 8A+B. After 3 or 4 attempts she does one with the downward spiral of 8AB+B, B.
