These are several of my works that belong to an original story I'm writing (and hope it reaches the fame most fighting games have today, or a reasonable fanbase at least). They're fairly amateur drawings; I don't expect them to be great let-alone amazing, but I still love what I do and I hope it at least helps a future illustrator I could possibly hire to take over (I'm more of a writer anyway).

Yes, each one has a story to them, but I'll be leaving that out for spoiler purposes. Anyway, here are the first few:
Karoku:

Siegfried (not related to the one Soulcalibur):

Krishna:

I actually have Create-a-soul versions of them as well. If anyone would like to see them, I would gladly post them in my CaS thread.

They are great, it's very difficult to create your own characters.. But can I make a suggestion? Your corners are very sharp, and it makes the characters look stiff. Your shading is friggin' amazing man, kudos on that. Especially on Hiroko I love it. But I think you should really work on your angles, and making the limbs look more natural. No I'm not an artist, I am an aspiring architect, but I know quite a few, including my older brother who I've watched draw through my childhood.

Thanks for the tips, man! By angles and corners, you mean the joints on the characters, right? Tough stuff, but yeah. I think I have trouble with the hands and feet the most, though I think I'm slowly improving (I didn't post these in chronological order). Thanks for the compliment too and your patience to look over these and comment! And best of luck with your career path too, dude!

Best of luck to you too. I have no doubt that you'll become an incredible artist if you continue to practice well, even though you said you're more of a writer. I can tell you're a writer even, at first I felt like you paid to much attention to the details on the clothing but it's obvious that the detail on the character has a story of it's own, like the symbol on Krishna's chest. Looking at Hirokos kimono again I really think you should consider clothing design LOL! That's passion man. But like I said just work on the limbs, make the characters look more natural, try drawing a little lighter. My brother drew every limbs separately flexing in a different way to practice angles. Sorta like this

I have a book on how to draw Anime characters, buuuut it's out-dated and my aim today (unlike the past) is to create a blend of both eastern and western styles. Here's something about Krishna's symbol to validate your theory on the use of detail: It's a badge that belongs to a police force known as the "Assembly of Ra", hence the symbol. Hiroko's kimono is full of flowers because she likes them and Haku's dress is like that because she wants to feel regal :)

I have a deviantart account and each character is supposed to have a full-biography, but I've only completed 3 so far. It's all pre-planned, but there's still a lot to write and develop for each one, even the small details (i.e. their casual wear, likes, dislikes, relationship values etc.).

Those are incredible!
Did you ever try drawing SC character designs?I'm sure you totally have a talent for that.

I could probably try, but it's sort of like muscle memory to me, haha. I have a knack for drawing characters with a twist and I'm kind of stuck with that. That is to say, if I try right now, they would look out-of-place, I think. However, I am a fan of the SC artist's style and I would do anything to draw like that.
