Character preference? THIS IS MY FAVOURITE THING TO TALK ABOUT OH GOD
lesseee..... I'm hilariously new to SC, I've only actually played 4 and 5, with a little bit of 2. I think my top seven, in order, would have to be:
1: Devil Jin - Usually when I play fighting games, I don't try and specialize with one or two characters. I like being mediocre with the whole roster but able to play everyone for variety's sake. However, once I actually had my own copy of V, I've REALLY started to take a shine to DJ style. it being custom character specific is another reason I love it, I'm such a whore for character customization. I'm pretty sure DJ style is one of, if not THE worst style in the game [in V at least], he gets outclassed by everyone and their dog, but he's so goddamn fun to play. He's the only style I've ever gotten decently far in Legendary Souls with, and for that I know that this is the style I'm going to work on perfecting.
Also punching people off stages is the most satisfying way to ring out anyone ever.
2: Kilik - So far he's the only character I've used in IV, and he's by far my favourite SC character. Not really sure why. Also in V he's a bird and birds are awesome, and style roulette is one of my favourtie things about fightan games.
3: Hilde - This was actually the first style I ever used when playing SC, and the first one I learned and was able to beat my friends with! I've always loved polearms and I think a lot of Hilde's moves are really cool to look at. Also her 2P outfit is amazing.
4: Cervantes - Accidental self ring-outs have never looked cooler. Also pirates.
5: Viola - Supernatural shenanigans? In MY period fighter? Hell yes.
6: Nightmare - Okay he's just straight up badass. I made a color variant of his 2P outfit in V that's blue and white and it's SO COOL
7: Maxi - Japanese kung-fu pirate Elvis! Takes me back to my button mashing days. His time over pose is hilarious. Also he keeps dying and I find that really funny.

Tira: Personality and requirement of having to adapt to random changes in your own character. Those are the big things. All the small things are nice too.

Dampierre: TROLLGASM! I just can't stop playing this one.
Alpha Patroklos: Very gratifying to pull off those combos.

My character preferences.... *Goes into Asian fetish mode*

Leixia-I've always loved Xianghua (especially on SC3), so I figured I could settle in with Leixia. Might be a little harder to handle compared to her mother though.

A. Patroklos-Since I had a great fondness of Setsuka in every aspect, I just wanted to see how I would be with him. Even though I like Setsuka, because she doesn't require JF so much, I like Alpha Patroklos because his JFs (some) are actually pretty easy to execute unlike Setsuka's. Sakura Twister is such an amazing move to use when you get the hang of inputting it correctly.

I usually don't play much of anyone else, even though I used to play Taki religiously before SC3.

1. Viola - I dont care for videogame characters themselves, even less for fighting game characters...
Theyre always cocky or stupid, all of them are boring as fuck. Arakune -- a crazy blob of goo thats screams blah blah boring... Mitsurugi -- a tough samurai who 'never loses' or something bleh. Dont care.
Viola on the other hand i find quite interesting... Her 1p outfit sucks, but her 2p outfit in genuinely nice... I'm not a fan of the gypsy nonsense and somethings she says can be a bit silly, but sometimes she actually has something interesting to say... "You possess great strength, but nothing else" is an excellent line.
However, absolutely none of that matters because I never use her -- I ALWAYS use customs, and as I'm going to assume nobody here has seen her somehow, I'm not going into detail there.
Pressure is my favourite tool in fighting games, and I find games without pressure-based characters rather tedious. Viola is the epitome of pressure for the entirety fighting games I've ever seen... You have to take some incredible risks and know her inside out to actually get a successful attack out most of the time, which is brilliant. Nothing suits me more.
Her weapon is interesting, her attacks have flare... Range is an issue, but thats what balance is made out of. Perfect in nearly every way for me.

2. Natsu - I dunno... The character herself is beyond terrible, one if the worst characters that I've ever had to displeasure to see. Horrah for customs.
Attacks feel alright... Fast, powerful, maneuverable... Yes.
In my head, this list was a lot longer but for some reason i cant seem to think of any reason i like any of these characters besides Viola, or the fact that my customs look amazing. I suppose i like ZWEI...

3. ZWEI - I like his voice, its manly. I dont understand why he needs to look like... that... or in what way that is a werewolf, but glossing over that i suppose hes not so bad.

The style though, when it gets going at least, feels great. Once your got your opponent nice and programmed theyre dead within seconds! I love seeing the health go from 90% to 0 in about 6 hits or so. Problem is that doesnt seem to happen very often. Anyone with decent enough reactions to deal with Viola would destroy ZWEI easily... only 1 of his grabs is at all useful so it always gets broken... its all a little too obvious... but maybe im just doing it wrong.

4. Everyone Else

5. Voldo - Dont like fighting him (although im getting more used to it as time flows continuously on), dont like using him. This character makes no sense to me.
Oh, and the feeble shock value of the character is something even my 12 year old brain didnt pick up on when i first got SC2, now it just looks ridiculous. Its on old blind man in a thong, how risque... how fucking hilarious.
On a side note, they really need to start a range of attractive male characters in fighting games... No male video game character ever has ever looked good... its a concept Japanese people, at least those involved in the production of video games, dont seem to understand at all. Tangent-y.

Well, that didnt go well.
Lets all disregard that mess.

I think he meant that vio's opponent has to take incredible risks and know her inside out to get an attack out.
At least thats how i understood it, anything else wouldn't make sense lol.

If he meant it that way then I would agree.

No homo. I think mitsurugi, patroklos, maxi, siegfried, maybe raphael, are all meant to look attractive.
