Personal character preference list and why

I really hate ZWEI, can't help but miss the days when Raphael was the gay/female fan service character.
Raphael_Sorel_h1.jpg

No homo. I think mitsurugi, patroklos, maxi, siegfried, maybe raphael, are all meant to look attractive.
Meant indeed.

Imo Z.W.E.I. is pure gay/female fan service.
His concept art wasnt horrible, but his stupid mutant face/eyebrows and ridiculous tattoos ruin it. Regardless of all of this, hes not remotely my type.
Rock is the closest to what id call a good-looking character... Due in no small part to the fact he doesnt have a face. (OK, well his 2p in SCIV where he looks like a drunken hobo (at least his face anyway) doesnt look great, but i can pretend that doesnt exist!) But he had a terrible voice... and just... didnt do anything for me... i never liked him, i never wanted to use him...

Right... Lol
Of all the things i was expecting to be picked up on, it was not that... i was expecting something to do with this one:
Range is an issue, but thats what balance is made out of.

Now i dont know if your low-content post was sarcastic or not, but... well, its more likely than not.
In that case i think we all know that, more so than anyone, Viola is capable of maintaining an offence for a very long time yet still, during which, responding incorrectly results in a lot of damage...
I think he meant that vio's opponent has to take incredible risks and know her inside out to get an attack out.
At least thats how i understood it, anything else wouldn't make sense lol.
And yes, this is clearly what was meant.
(Actually, reading it again, its not that clear. hmmm... Oh well, we all know what was meant now don't we. All is well.)

I've always been a sucker for big, slow powerhouses, although I do sometimes like a few of the faster characters.
#1 Siegfried. Stances, mixups, long range, relatively decent safety for his speed/damage/range.
#2 Nightmare. Mobility, range, damage, plus his CE is fucking great!
#3 Astaroth. long/short range versatility, best grabs in the game, HUGE damage from BNB moves.

Characters I CAN'T STAND period:

1#Viola. Would you PLEASE stop attacking @+frames so I can get a move in? Jesus. Blocking and attacking at the same time? Combos that almost never end? Fuck this character.

2#Alpha Pat. Fuck his JF twister, his fast and safe combo starters that result in half life, or simply the fact that he revolves around 5 moves. He's ALL about execution and I hate that in a character.

#3 Omega. Brainless OP whore. Punish everything with 236 b4/236236 b4, and finish all combos with that move as well. Once again, a character that relies on 5 OP moves. At least regular Pyhhra is somewhat interesting.

Characters I admire, but can't use:

1#Yoshi. Fast, weird, unpredictable, flashy. I love watching pro players use him.

2#Zwei. Strange, unpredictable, flashy. I like him because he's not as straight forward as other characters.

3#Leixia. Fast, mixups, pressure, fun to watch.

4#Maxi. Fast, good damage, good mixups, stances, fluidity. Very entertaining character.

5#Dampierre. Everything about him is flashy and hilarious. Love him.

Everyone else is kinda neutral to me.

I love how you listed my three most used characters there. Though I think Omega is more interesting than regular Pyrrha as she requires you to turtle a little less and take more risks, helping with her guard burst pressure. Pyrrha just seems to be all about AA, BB, 1K, 3B, throws and 236B4 punishers (followed by a 1K/3B mix up).

Allow me to take the first thing you said out of context in an effort to explain why you hate Omega:
I CAN'T STAND period

I hate her because she gets so much damage for so little work. That that DNS B is too safe/too much pushback. They need to make that move -18 or reduce the pushback.
The pushback is the main problem which makes it not even feel like it's -18 on block lol but u know thats not gonna happen...just look at the last 3 patches we got.

-14, actually.

DNS B itself doesn't track, but the NS/DNS stance realigns her to the opponent.
Thank you for correcting me. I'll stop trying to punish with B6 now. Now I know I can't punish it at all and they can just throw it out as much as they want. Lol

This seems really fun so I'll take part in it. So here's my list. ^_^

sc5-s52.jpg

~Viola (SCV): If I had to choose one of the few characters I always seem to play in SCV, one of my more popular choices is Viola. I love her gameplay style/mechanics. I know her juggling can be annoying but there is just something so fun about them. And plus, it's not like she does too much damage during them so I feel it is a fairly balanced match up. Other then that, I also love her occult/gypsy inspired aesthetic. So yeah, Viola is definitely one of my most picks in SCV.
zwei-sc5pro.jpg

~Z.W.E.I. (SCV): The minute I saw Z.W.E.I.'s debut in the SCV trailer, I was instantly hooked on him. I love his aesthetic appeal. Now gameplay wise, I'm not very good with him yet. And I do have some fun playing as him or his style but it often does get a bit stale for me but this is mostly because he has a smaller moveset compared to the others. Despite that, I shrug it off and continue to play and practice with him. I really like him a lot and other then Viola, he's the only other character of the new cast I really like. If there is a Super Soul Calibur 5 or Soul Calibur 6, I hope they expand on his moveset and give him more stances too. Love you Z.W.E.I. <3
sc5-s17.jpg

~Natsu (SCV): Okay, I still very much don't like her aesthetic appearance but I would be lying if I said she wasn't fun to play with (or her style). I have to say, she has a pretty cool moveset that is surprising enjoyable to play as. She still has nothing on Taki but she isn't so bad in her own right. But this may be because I like using faster paced characters. She'll never replace Taki for me at the end of the day but I do think she will be a character I will play as from now (or if only till Taki makes a return someday lol). I will say too, I also am used to her somewhat cocky annoying personality but she seems like the kind of girl who would be fun to hang with haha.
patroklos-sc5pro.jpg

~Patroklos (SCV): Haha, okay I admit it. He may have the most annoyingly cockiest attitude and dumbest battle stance I have witnessed but just like Natsu, I surprising find him very fun to play as. I still hate his 1p outfit (his 2p looks so much better to me <3) but yeah, all around fun guy to play as/or use style as. His moves are very hard hitting with that shield and even though he is more slower paced, he is a very rewarding character to learn. And plus... *looks both ways* He's a freakin' hunk... ^//^ But ahem anyway, all around fun character. I sincerely hope they don't ditch his S&S style. It's very unique.
hilde1.jpg

~Hilde (SCIV slightly/SCV): Ah Hilde. She is very fun to play is for me in SCV more so then SCIV. I use her quite a lot in SCV and I think she is a very versatile character to play as. She has a lot more exciting moves this time around as the problem for me with SCIV Hilde was that not a lot of her moves were that exciting to me. When it comes to playing human opponents, I think I do alright using her. I win a couple times but I still need lots of practice but that's okay because I really like her. And plus, I love her aesthetic appearance as well.
Taki01.jpg

~Taki (SC/SCII/SCIII/SCIV): Ah Taki. Well, initially, she wasn't the first character I played as but when I took more notice with her in SCII, I got hooked on her fast-paced moveset. I really loved her moves and well, she was just an all around cool character for me. And no, it wasn't because of her large assets. xP In SCIV, even though it felt like she was slowed down a bit, she still was pretty enjoyable to play as. I liked using her most in SCIII for some reason. She's just a very fun character to play in my opinion and her aesthetic design was very cool. But then again, I like ninjas. So yeah, Taki has a special place in my heart and whenever I go back to playing the older games, she'll always be picked. ^_^
yunsung-h.jpg

~Yun Seong (SCII/SCIII/SCIV): Like i said, I love fast-paced characters so Yun-Seong is a natural candidate of my tier list. I loved his moveset even though Hwang is the original. I think he rocked it with style and he was very fun to play as. I played more with him in SCIII and SCIV then I did SCII but nowadays whenever I go back to playing SCII, I use this lovable but cocky character haha. I was really disappointed when they discontinued him after SCIV but at least he had a nice run? Who knows? Maybe they might bring him back or at least his style in a future SC title? All in all, if he does, you can bet I'll be adding him back to my mains list again lol. And besides, he is so cute he's like a puppy dog <3
ivy-h.jpg

~Ivy (SC/SCII/SCIII/SCIV slightly/SCV slightly): Ivy is very special to me because she was the first character I ever played. I remember when SCI was in an arcade when I was little and I remember picking Ivy and even though I didn't know how to play her, I thought she was so cool. Then, when I got SCII on the Gamecube, I fell in love with her personality and moveset. I liked how she was sort of a bitch but with a heart of gold. And she was so much fun to play. I honestly loved her moveset best in SCII. In SCIII, even though her moves changed a bit, she was still pretty fun to play with but at this time, I was using characters like Tira, Taki, & Yun Seong more. In SCIV, this was what I called my Ivy break. Even though I got a slight grip on her drastic new moveset, it wasn't enough to hold my interest. Plus, I hated her aesthetic appearance in that game so I pretty much rarely used Ivy as I used Taki, Yun-Seong, Tira, & pretty much others this time around. In SCV, I do like her aesthetic and her moveset while still a bit strange to use for me, is more excitable for me. I was so happy they took out her coil state. So yeah, Ivy may not be used much by me anymore but she will forever be inside my fighter spirit. I hope in SC6, they give her more moves and try to bring in some of her stances from SCII again. ^_^

tira-sc3intro.jpg

~Tira (SCIII/SCIV/SCV): Tira's a classic for me. She was so very fun to play as in pretty much all the games but I will never forget her debut moveset in SCIII (I loved her ballerina horizontal spinning move <3). I already fell in love with her eccentric aesthetic/fashion style and she really has some of the most intricate her ever. She's a crazy psychotic mess but gosh darn it, she is just so lovable in my opinion. All in all, I'm proud to say she is still one of my mains and I do hope in future titles, they expand her moveset more. :D
Cassandra-Alexandra-blindbandit92-30958275-550-309.jpg

~Cassandra (SCII/SCIII/SCIV): Oh my gosh, where do I begin with Cassandra? Well, at first I didn't think much of her during the SCII days. I remember my brother always picked her and pretty much beat me a fair amount of times with her. Her win quotes angered me so much whenever I lost lolol. But around SCIII, I decided to pick her up and let me tell you, she was so fun to play as. I was like "So this is what I've been missing out on?!" Haha I love her fast but powerful hitting moves and I can play either on the offense of the defense with her. I used her a lot in SCIV as well even though she was slowed down. I was sad to see she wasn't returning in SCV but I've come to accept it. Still though, she will always be one of the funnest characters I have added to my mains list. Plus, she is so cute and pretty and I love a lot of her outfits (nothing will top her SCIII 2p outfit <3).
Soul.Calibur.Wallpaper.208311.jpg

~Sophitia (SB/SCI/SCII/SCIII/SCIV): Sophitia is another slight classic of mine. I started playing her more in SCIII then SCII as I was more hooked on Cassandra's style at the time before I picked her up. I loved her hard hitting moves. Sure, she is a bit slow but if you are patient, she is a very rewarding character to play. I enjoyed using her a lot in SCIV as well. And then when I got into emulating, I played her in SB & SCI and she is so much fun to use in those games as well, more so in SCI since SB had lots of unresponsive/late reaction times. Even though I never picked her much in the beginning, I always thought she was a beautiful character, especially in SCIII. I was not surprised to see her go in SCV but I wish she never died... She was one of the most kindest gentler characters in the series next to Talim. But anyway, she will always be a classic for me.
kilik2.jpg

~Kilik (SC/SCII/SCIII/SCIV): Kilik is another classic for me though by the time SCIV rolled around, I didn't use him as much as I did in the previous games. His moveset was always cool to me and I was drawn into his kind-heart demeanor. I know in SCIV, a lot of people spammed with him and yes, it was very annoying but if you go up against a skilled player, it is amazing to watch. I tried to never spam with him and try to use most of his moves. Like I said, he had a nice moveset so why be monotonous with the moves you do? So you can only imagine my disappointment with him in SCV. A mimic? Really?? *sigh* I digress though, he was a very substantial character in my selections. Will always have room for Kilik in my fighting spirit but please please please if they do continue with him, revert him back to his rod style lol.
1000px-Soulcalibur-iv-20080229095918853.jpg

~Xianghua (SC/SCII/SCIII/SCIV): Xianghua is just so fun to play as. Her moveset may have not been revamped more heavily but still, so fun to play as and even though she is annoying with her "just kiiding" routine, she's a likeable character personality-wise and she has some of the best Chinese inspired outfits I have ever seen. Needless to say, I wasn't surprised to see her go in SCV and Leixia is fun to play as sometimes, I do miss her. But oh well, yeah, she was one of my classics mainly from the SCII/SCIII era.
soul-calibur-5-raphael.jpg

~Raphael (SCII/SCIII/SCV): Raphael's rapier style was very nice in my opinion during SCII. I had lots of fun using him as he has such an elegant yet deadly style. In SCIII, he changed but I still was able to play him quite nicely. Not amazing but I knew how to handle him in the game. In SCIV, I hated how they drastically changed his moveset so I used Amy more then him during this time. In SCV, he is pretty fun to play as. So he is like the male version of Ivy for me. I liked him for awhile, didn't use them much in SCIV, and returned back to using them in SCV. I never really cared much for his new Vampire persona but he does wear the clothes nicely but I like how in SCV with his 1p outfit, they returned back to a French/European musketeer kind of look. All in all, Raph is a-okay in my book. <3
inset1_08_0808_sc4.jpg

~Amy (SCIII/SCIV): I adored her when she made her debut as a bonus character in SCIII. I think she represented the Rapier style quite nice even though it didn't have many attacks. In SCIV, I grew very attached to her and I loved her more simplified yet regal take on the rapier style as opposed to Raphael's more vampire-esq style during this time. Yeah, she had a few cheap moves and antics but she was still very fun to play as. Plus, I liked her aesthetic appeal but I did wish they gave her more of a personality in IV. Still, Amy is one of my favrorite female characters and she won't be forgotten. :)
HwangSCFACE.jpg

~Hwang (SB/SCI/SCIII): I may have initially started off with Yun-Seong but that doesn't mean I never gave Hwang a try. In SCIII, even though he was just a bonus character representing the Chinese Sword style, I thought he was very cool and pulled it off nicely since it represented his signature style from SCI. Then when I got into emulating, I got Soul Blade/Soul Edge and Soul Calibur 1. I have to say, I have a lot of fun playing him in those games. It makes me wish they kept him in the game till SCV at the very least but yeah, I do really like him. He also has some awesome outfits.

My list would be as follows:

1. Why, Raphael of course, if the avatar didn't give it away. He's been my favorite since I first played SC2. And even though he sucks now, thanks to the patch, I still think he's fun to play as and has an interesting design.

2. Siegfried would be second. When Raph was turned into a vampire in SCIII, I was initially very put off by the idea and dropped him completely, picking up Siegfried instead. Later, Raph became my main again, but Siegfried remained by second. In IV, I really hated his costume designs and new voice actor (Crispin Freeman ftw!), and so I didn't play as him much in said game. In V, he has again become my second main, mostly due to Talim's absence. He's probably the character I'm actually best with, but I prefer Raphael as a character.

3. Talim, though sadly she does not make an appearance in SCV. I think that PS missed a cool opportunity to expand Talim's story and character, and I hope they capitalize on the possibility in a future release.

4. Natsu is my 3rd favorite in SCV. She's fast, deals good damage, and she's cute. What's the down side? I also like her arrogant personality.

5. Xianghua/Leixia. X, pre-SCV, and Leixia now. I like Xianghua more, overall, but Leixia is still a cool character in my opinion.

6. Yoshimitsu. Because he's both silly and badass at the same time, and that is quite a feat.

To save time, everybody else, and then Alpha Patroklos comes in last. That bashterd. I honestly don't mind Patroklos, himself. But his ultimate form is a pain. I'm comically awful as him, but whenever I face off against him I get my arse handed to me. :/

Ranking mains is hard. Always switches up. =S

Yoshimitsu is always first.

Seong Mi-na is always second....if she were around.

Leixia is hangs on to second for now. Forming team Yei(:sc1yos1::sc5lei1:)

Then Hilde, Natsu, and Dampierre tie for third. Eventually, I'll learn them. Especially Hilde.

Everyone else is whatever since I only play them for my own silly reasons. I play Pyrrha for aesthetic reasons for instance.

2. Siegfried would be second. When Raph was turned into a vampire in SCIII, I was initially very put off by the idea and dropped him completely, picking up Siegfried instead. Later, Raph became my main again, but Siegfried remained by second. Amen.

1. Natsu - she is one of the fastest in whole game, unpredictable when you know how to use possession and for her appearance (This pinky costume combined with her voice...)

2. Ivy - after Natsu i wanted to main someone more difficult to use so I chose her, don't know why, maybe it was her unique sword and the best voice acting in english version, like an elegant lady from Buckingham Palace xD

3. Pyrrha and Pyrrha Omega - always like to play somebody with sword and shield and they are parts of my favourite style in sc4 (miss you Sophie), so maining them was the only matter of time

4. Hilde - i was inspired by my friend who uses Hilde. She beat me few times and then i decided to learn something about her. I like her style because it's hard to find someone who really can use her in a proper way or even know her attacks so it's easy to surprise with some attacks

5. Tira - she is fighting with circle blade, she has two opposite personalities, both really interesting, her quotes are just perfect - "Broken already? Well aren't you delicate"

For some reason I pictured Crispin Glover

For some reason I pictured Crispin Glover

Lol, probably because it's a fairly uncommon name. I loved Freeman's voice for Siegfried, it's part of what made the character feel badass to me. And then in IV, the image was almost entirely ruined. XD But I like him again in V... Even though he's still not Crispin Freeman.

His voice was fine in 4... as long as you didn't compare him to Crispin Freeman lol.
