Xiba Q&A / General Discussion

Alright, I've been using Xiba on and off since the release of SCV and have been wondering something.
Why do I never see him used in any sort of high level play? Like seriously, why is the SA dead as doornails?

I run into a legion of scrubs online using him all the time, but out of the 70 or so Xiba users I've fought, maybe 3 of them have been competent... and I can't for the life of me figure out why.

My first thought is that it's because he's a mediocre character in a sea of big fish, but I run into solid Leixia's, Yoshi's, and Raphael's all the time, so that's probably not it. Then I thought maybe it was because he was so popular with scrubs that better players avoided him, but that would just be dumb, and Mitsu and Sieg are some of the most used characters in the roster by scrubs, they still get high level players. Maybe he lacked decent tools and effective ways to be hits in, and is really unsafe *Looks at frame data and applies it* Welp, sure as hell aint that.

Is it the annoying face/personality?(tons of Leixias still)
Is it lack of Asura Dance?
Is it that you have to work with the character to win, instead of the character doing for you(used to use ZWEI so I understand that)

I may just have to pity main this poor S.O.B.. I bet there's still a lot to be found out with Xiba, but with only like...8 people using him it may take a long time.

Oh thank god some do exist. The only person I've seen play Xiba in a tournament setting before is Jaxel, so finding a Xiba to look up to was to no avail. Maybe someone(or me) should post up some of their videos and the laughably dead video thread(at least until I'm confident enough in my Xiba to start posting)?

It still leaves me to ponder the deadness of this SA, especially coming from the Aeon and ZWEI ones.
 
Xiba's hard, you don't know whether your winning with him because your good or because the opponent is a rubbish.

Xiba was my 2nd main but now he's just dropped and dropped down. lol

Isn't a 2nd Main just a Secondary?

And ya he's hard to utilize at high level with lack of any good close normals and ways to get out due to the big patch. Add in anyone who can JG halfway decent and you just wanna stab yourself.

But hey he's awesome.

With that kind of attitude, you'd fit in really well with the ZWEI and Leixia SA :)
I think everyone here is well away of Xiba's short comings at this point, thank you. Let's find more tech.

Are you sure you're thinking of me? I think I've seen you on the Colosseo, but my Xiba is still pretty scrubby at this point and I'm making lots of stupid mistakes(getting better). Now if I was Aeon on the other hand...

I think his style is just plain and simple...and I don't use xiba because he just doesn't interest me..although I don't think he is a bad char (same with ezio) just their styles can get rather dull for some people.
 
arrrgh damn it... I switched mains so many times, but eventually I have to go back to xiba because he's so straight forward. I just couldn't learn to use mitsurugi or astaroth properly.
 
what's the best combo after guard break and GI? I am guessing either 3BKK for meter less or 6BKBE 6K for meterfor GI, but I am not sure about guard break, is there enough time to do A+BBKBE?

also, are any his jump attack any good? 8A is mid, but comes out slow. 8B is even slower, probably only good for TJ opponent attacks. I can't find any application in 8K outside of mix up after 66BBB/REM AK
