Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate

Just picked up my copy. It seems that the Asian versions of the game (R3) all come with the bunny outfits whether or not you've pre-ordered.
 
I would like to go out and buy this game but since I miss pre-order (on special edition), maybe I'll just wait it out until it goes on sale in a month or two. I've been pretty loyal to the series in the past but lately Tecmo (now + dynasty warrior Koei) has been disappointing. I'll wait for more people's verdict on this game. at the very least will get it eventually if it hits bargain bins.

I keep hearing conflicting results about the online, so I'm holding off... Maybe I should look up some Youtube videos after this week?

FreeStepDodge doesn't seem as extensive as 8WayRun. Which is kind of interesting... It seems like an even smaller community than ours (?!)

But it looks like there's a rematch button! Cooool!


Hopefully getting a digital copy will stave off these loading times.
 
I saw Kokoro head spin back to front [?] in a lag match today. It was scary. x_x'

Anyway, it's looks like you'll get a lot of frame slowdown if you're gonna play 1 ~ 2 bars people. The good side is, as far I know, you don't get input delay or stuff like this. It doesn't bad as SC4 connection, but it could be a lot better.
Peaceful Jay stream is streaming Dead or Alive 5 (24h stream). Take a look if you're interessed. ;)
 
Alright, so after a day of playing DoA5 on and offline, I have some updates. First the online got amazingly better than what I was experiencing the first night. Not sure what happened but it's certainly playable now. Second, so many garbage players playing this game on both 360 and PS3. Seriously, going through ranked is a breeze.

Story is campy as hell, and not in the good way. I enjoyed MK9's campy story, not DoA5's. But it's relatively short, should take most people only a couple hours to get through.

Surprisingly, there aren't a lot of VF characters being used. I think I've ran into 1 Pai and 2 Sarahs and no Akira's yet. I expected more.

I'll come back with more if I remember anything else I wanted to say.
 
I'm playing through story, but haven't got too far. Me and my wife are laughing at how ridiculous some parts are (like Kokoro's reaction to the exploding cars) and the absurd boob physics. (I really did miss SC2 Taki).

I know better than to try to go on ranked just yet. I have no idea what I'm doing, other than randomly mash P and K and hope something cool comes out.

I've been doing that and kicking ass! When I really want to confuse my opponent! I mash them out at weird and inexplicable times! Mindgames, yo!
 
i play Pai. but i've only seen one Sarah and that's it. Rig is as annoying to face as i predicted. He has crazy priority on those quick kicks. I've faced some pretty good people online but i'm the only one i've seen so far that does Critical Burst. not a single other person does them :P.

when you stun someone for a certain amount of health (indicated by a whit flashing bar on their health bar. shows how long they are stunned before they get knocked down) they will enter a red "critical stun" period for one or two hits. each character has a move that, when successfully hits, initiates the opponent into a Critical Burst state. (it's very obvious when you get this off successfully. a loud SMASH sound happens.) after then you can do anything the the opponent (don't know about grabs) because they cannot block nor counter in the state. once you make the opponent enter this state you can either launch them (they will be launched higher then usual. like a hi counter launch.) or you can use your power blow if your health is below half.
 
okay. someone has to end my win streak. not bragging but i haven't lost a single game as Kokoro. and i think i may have lost one as Lei Fang. just went into a 8 person lobby and cleared it out. i wanna face friends. but it is fun teaching people how to play.
