Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate

Guys who's harder to use akira or alpha? I like high execution characters so I probably use akira and just lol at every failed JF attempt. If i had tekken tag 2 then probably lei wulong would be one of my main chars

Edit: I mean alpha in sc5 not the alpha in dead or alive..I heard she was shitty or something

As for Hayabusa. I'm trying to use the analog stick to set up the motions, I'm actually having trouble of when the motions actually count. Since they don't register until you get that window open. Regular Izuna Drop I can do, its the other stuff that's tricky.

This is some good stuff, thanks buddy.

All the Izuna drops are a pain in the ass, but the counter hold one's are the worst. The main one seems to be "Izuna-Otoshi", which seems to represent the general Izuna Drop motions well. For the counter hold Izunas, I use the left stick to initiate the advanced hold then immediately go to the 21478H motion then the other way for 360. The hardest part for me is changing directions for the 360 motion. The inputs aren't really a JF like the VF characters but more so treated like one big smooth motion.

The high execution characters in DOA5 are Hayabusa, Akira, Brad and Lei-Fang. Gen Fu probably counts too, though I've never really played him. Akira in DOA5 seems a easier to learn on the execution side over his VF5, but he's difficult because his fighting style is fundamentally different from every character in the game. Perhaps the most difficult of Akira's moves is his guard break of doom which requires *precise* inputs and speed that you would not find on any other character in DOA5... and perhaps on any 3D game. It's guaranteed damage if you pull it off successfully and it crushes guards.

Hayabusa these days is a grappler, and while you can play him without having to use his special counter holds (and they're pretty difficult on the prediction/yomi scale) he's far more scary when you do. Learning Izuna Drops and how to get them off every time is an impressive feat and you'll get mad respect if you can do this consistently.

Brad is easy execution-wise, he's more challenging in the sense that you need a good memory to remember all his moves from all five stances (plus the he has a few that aren't listed). The guy has 200 moves total and you can probably get away with only knowing 25% of them, getting at least 2/3rds of them will prepare you for a lot mind games and tricks. He used to be low tier due to the fact that his stance transitions weren't safe. Even now, they're risky unless you've landed some hits on your opponent.

Lei-Fang has similar theme with Hayabusa. Although she focuses on holds and a new stance moreso than Hayabusa. She's a character that focuses on striking the opponent and reversing their attacks to create openings and pounding them for a lot of damage. I'm not sure how she is execution-wise, but knowing the timing of her special counter holds puts her up there as a challenging - if slightly less challenging than Hayabusa - character to learn.

I haven't tried any Izuna Drops in DOA5 but I would constantly spin the stick in the proper direction and press the button when I needed too. Worked 100% of the time.

Would be news to me. I know Akira's got a lot of guaranteed stuff off 46P and basic launcher, but... I can't find anything else that's guaranteed. Not to mention, he's high/mid heavy so its easy to counter hold a lot of his stuff.

Then again, I'm not really sure how I should work him. I managed to combo 46P 2P 146P pretty well and 33P into H+KPP+K, but live players aren't going to fall for that all the time. Too many stuns and not enough guaranteed damage I can find so far.

And then again... Back Turned P+K on counter hit is 99 damage.... crazy.

I haven't even did the command training with Rig yet because the people I play with can't stop him. Actually I have only been in practice with Brad and Mila only to discover I don't like her.
Dare I say... Day 1 Maxi all over again?

I was looking for a beginner's character, but I actually think I'll stick with Mila. i14 stop kick, offensive hold takedown, 1-2 hits to CB. I just gotta learn to play.

I'm impressed that you can perform Akira's 236P+K43P+K236P46P+K every round in a live setting or in a tournament.

Then again, its not like its hard or anything.

Ya it's not hard to do, just hard to LAND. They get hit by raw 236P+K they're dumb. Otherwise the actual doing it part is no harder than Setsuka B+K string in SC4
