Seong Mi Na= Lag Abuse??

I came back to SC4 so I could fully learn Seong Mi Na. I thought I became decent with her but someone has called me a lag abuser. For me lag abuse was people spamming lows or something like B,B with Sophita or someone. (forgive my SC vernacular I never learned how to use the SC Jargon for commands but the moves I used against the player were Foward ,Foward A ,crouching kick, A+K , A,A (B when needed) DownBack B,K Crouching K and throws and B+K when I felt it would land. The player said I lag abused because I attacked when I was at disadvantge. But for me studying the game if I have a move that I feel certain is fast enough to interrupt an attack I go for it.I learned that by process of elimination when facing bad maxi players and fast characters.Sometimes a simple standing kick can do wonders. The player is a good Ivy user and he won but he called me a Lag Abuser Whore. When I played the individual with Taki and Sophitia I never got that complaint but only with Mi Na. How can Mi Na Lag abuse? Seriously I wish to become better with her.I play with diginity.I don't wish to be in ignorance anymore. If my wins are an illusion with her I wish to know. That said how can I teach myself not to lag abuse.I have no offline friends that play any SC game anymore.(they all bailed to TTT2)

The short answer is: SC4's netcode is so bad that virtually nothing you experience on it actually translates to learning. There is a longer answer to it, but that is the long and short of it. Virtually all lows are "lag tactics" and attacking at disadvantage is a sticky issue because of the way lag affects the game.

Mina doesnt' even have that many crazy sweeping lows or online +frames on block.
Obviously restricting yourself to never attacking at disadvantage is a very poor habit, that I have unfortuntely carried with me in SC5.

I am curious though : Is SC4 still somewhat popular online to play ? Like there is an active pool of players ?

Not quite.you end up playing the same people over and over but on somedays you get new people. And sometimes it spikes.I don't do player matches much though but it feels like more people play there than ranked.

I see...I love her style. It at first felt restictive now it feels like a glove and it seems...well This is crazy I'm a Taki player but I love Mi Na's style more.I feel weaker with it and that's why I want to master it.But its all but impossible now.I hate lag.Love the game but that Lag is serious.I guess I understand now.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

On the upside, SC5's netcode is *fantastic* but it does lack Mi Na =(
