Is it just me, or are gaming series getting worse each year?

I was going to stay out of this thread, but I can't let a statement like this go by without correction.

Firstly, Morrowind was far more "broken" than Skyrim. It was also by far the best TES game. Secondly, TES has never been about providing a "balanced" experience; if you want to make a broken character, it gives you the tools to do so. If you don't want to make a broken character, then simply don't make a goddamn broken character. TES has always been about giving the players choices, and there are far more troubling aspects of Skyrim than the ability to smith a 500 damage longsword.

Stop using DBZ games as examples as we all know that they're shit competitively (with the exception of Super DBZ).

The point about those examples were the glitches, of course. This is only gonna tie down to what I was saying about ppl being assholes or trolls if they use glitches anyway. Something we both can agree on, is it not? As much as you call it "Competitive culture", its still being an asshole if you use a glitch to win. Regardless of honor you have.
Here's one example of a glitch.

If that's still not enough for you, try looking up and exploring Sc3 glitches on youtube...trust me you'll find a lot.
That's bat shit crazy...

Even long before I heard about VC, I ran into several glitches myself.

One time I launched my opponent and when he fell down, he fell through the floor. I could no longer attack him, he could not "get up", and the only thing left to do was wait until time ran out.

Another one was where I was fighting an opponent that somehow got upside down. Don't ask me how this happened, but everything was fine and the next thing I know, the character is hanging in mid air upside down. WTF?

Another one which happened frequently, for some reason every once in a while when there's a weapon clash, something weird happens and both players get instantly pushed to the edges of each side. Don't have a clue what triggered this one, because like I said it happened quite a lot.

And then there's this one time where I did a normal launcher move, and for some reason the opponent went flying SUPER HIGH, and didn't start to fall until a few seconds. I mean so high the camera couldn't keep up, and they floated "above the screen" so to speak. Fucking weird man.

These things happened enough that I couldn't really play very many matches before something weird like this happened, and when it did, it ruined the flow of battle.

And keep in mind this doesn't even include VC, which is a whole new category of game breaking glitches. These things I listed happened a lot without even trying to get them to happen.

So this wasn't a matter of "be cheap by taking advantage of a glitch", it happened whether you wanted it to or not, and it ruined the game.

So far we have ppl talking about past games having somewhat of glitches only. I havn't heard much such as game breaking like how some of the new generation of games are. So far it seems like ppl are more on the side of "Yes, games are getting worse each year." it seems like. It's just games from back in the day are now told that they weren't doing so hot as well, but atleast better then the future games, right or wrong?

I wish I had a question poll up between the two answers "Better" or "Worse".

Here's my reply. Games aren't getting worse, you just need to stop comparing the only decent or even bad games of this generation to the best of older generations. For every Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy you also had a 2Xtreme or Beyblade.

You're growing up, you're not finding new and exciting things all the time anymore. Just small refinements that don't pull out the sense of wonder or excitement they used to when the ideas or mechanics were completely new to you. At least these are my thoughts on why you might feel games aren't as good anymore. You've done it before.

You were so close, but actually the truth of it is that I'm not feeling it anymore. In my previous posts I mentioned Nostalgia. If the feeling becomes new, all I can say is "it better be good". The new content in games is good & all, but if its something turned out game breaking or missing, Nostalgia awaits....

I thought that was over with already? I was only giving the man my truth of how I feel, since he asked for it in a way.

You're misunderstanding the point. You make a thread about wondering if the games are getting bad or good. Many answered and you're just going in circles on uncertainty trying to find the most deep answer. Stop that. All we're saying is learn to accept reality and that's all there is to it.

Someone I know who doesn't have an account here asked me to point these things out.

1) Not all glitches are game breaking
2) Everyone is allowed to use these glitches
3) A number of glitches take skill to perform (this is against the argument of glitches being braindead and easy to perform)
4) If the glitch was a feature, would you suddenly be ok with it? Why? If they required no skill to perform and were as broke as you claimed, then whether it's a glitch or a feature wouldn't change that fact, so why would you be ok with it then and not before if they would have the same effect in the end?

Actually I'm just trying to get more ppls opinions on this. That's all I was doing; if you answered, good shit. I'll wait to see if anymore ppl have anything to say. If not, this thread doesn't need anymore attention. I can just take the intellect I got from others & go find more, else where & maybe come to a conclusion.
Edit: Also if you think I don't know something you do, say it & stop beating around the bush. I kinda feel like some ppl think I can read their mind & expect me to know wtf they do IF I didn't know it.

1) Not all glitches are game breaking: Where I came from, they were. It's good that this guy didn't.

2) Everyone is allowed to use these glitches: Your an asshole if you do. The only reason to do them is because one cannot rely on their own skill to get the job done the way the game is made. If you knew you were good, you wouldn't need to do it. If you knew you were horrible & you knew there's a glitch to cover up your lack of skill for compensation, your an asshole that would wanna cheat somehow to take the fairness out of the game. It'd be like taking steroids in the olympics because you couldn't do it on your own.

3) A number of glitches take skill to perform (this is against the argument of glitches being braindead and easy to perform): Your still an asshole if you use them; feeble too. If you don't think so, then your probably one of those guys who uses them against others just to take the fairness out of the game. (Keep in mind, I came from games that contains game breaking glitches). Also the skill to perform it wouldn't matter anymore, once you got it down. Above all why would you do it anyway? My only guess is because your bad at playing the game legitly.

4) If the glitch was a feature, would you suddenly be ok with it? Why? If they required no skill to perform and were as broke as you claimed, then whether it's a glitch or a feature wouldn't change that fact, so why would you be ok with it then and not before if they would have the same effect in the end?: If it became a feature, I'm pretty sure game designers wouldn't be that stupid to have another thing bypass this feature, in order to balance the game. If it wasn't balance then I'm pretty sure I'd feel the same way if it wasn't a glitch. Would you make something a feature in a game & leave it unbalanced? For an example: Going through walls in CoD, or DBZ goin through the air & freezing your enemy leaving him defenseless for you to get a free shot in every single time you do it.

Hopefully I don't get penalized for answering questions that was directed to me...

Protip DEX, without glitches we wouldn't even have fighting games as we know them, at all. Glitches are at the very heart of innovation in all kinds of genres, but for our genre, SF2's combo system was unintended. So the producers rolled with it and it became a feature.

It's not about "honor" or "being an asshole" or anything like that. That's just baggage.

O RLY? You don't say...

What came across my head in terms of "glitches" was shit thats not supposed to be in the game, but instead its used as cheap tricks for noobs. Which of course that they shouldn't be doing if it was not meant to be.

The combo system in SF2 isn't supposed to be in SF2. However, players used it, because there is no "game police". The developers took note, and left it in the game for future installments. Have you EVER played a game with chained attacks which cancel the previous one? You owe a glitch in SF2 for that.

Swallow.
