THIS is what a community thread should be about! Glad the "drama" thread is closed. The only drama I wanna see is the type that's relevant to the game, where player's "skills" get exposed and salty drama that leads to HYPE BATTLES happen!!

Now on topic, I think I should be able to make it to A&C at least twice a month! So post your availabilities! Wednesdays probably work best for me!

It seems only Eli and DINO have been consistently capable of hosting jam packed successful gatherings. So lets leave that to them.

I also suggest we do a SC Toronto BBQ again. Everyone donate $10, and no less. We buy meat, we find a "Private" Venue, and we pitch in an additional $5 each so we can pay the host for using their backyard/lawn etc...

Something just to rebuild the camaraderie again...

Well for the month of July I will be busy with stuff so I probably wont be able to host. Maybe sometime in late July. Anyways its the long weekend so enjoy it.

So I after seeing the results of OOF's tourney I thought I may wanna share my views.

I want to start off by saying that I am happy that OOF has done something for a falling dead community by trying to host his SC5 tourney and made an effort to make both the venue and tournament fee totaling to $10 ($5 each). This is where credit is due, but there are things that need to be addressed here.

Amaury, although you posted that you talk to a bunch of ppl and got them interested in allowing DJ in your tournament, the real deal is whether they did show up, but unfortunately the reality shows in your tourney brackets. You also mention 8 players with a possibility of a few more in hopes of getting 10 or more players, but the majority of these players are familiar SC veterans who would show up to any local SC tourney regardless whether DJ is banned or not. The only new players I noticed are ThatDarnNinja and that dude from London, Ontario, I had to wonder if these are the new players who are interested because of that DJ tolerance, however, as far as them being mentioned, the reality is they didn't show up.

I hate to say it, but you brought up a potential hype that didn't live towards its expectations and I was looking forward for you to prove my doubts incorrect at least in the first phase, but with only 5 participants whom all are familiar SC veterans who would participate regardless whether DJ is banned or not, I think its pointless to include DJ in tournaments from that point onward.

I encourage you to continue, but you gotta learn from your mistakes and take harsh criticisms from ppl, instead of acting too defensive. Be committed to improvement and as Nizer says "Where there is a will there is a way."

I was just going to delete this but I'll leave it here and give an explanation of what is wrong here. What Franman did in his post was make his observations and opinion known and gave feedback and criticism to help future endeavors and gatherings. What you are doing is being a... you know what I came in to give an explanation and diffuse a potential drama starting problem. You know the kind that has gotten your fucking Regional thread shut down TWICE? That's an embarrassment. But I digress. Hype is one thing fine sir, and I have found that you blur the lines of hype and shit that I would actually punch people in the mouth if it were directed at me (ask about me if you don't believe me) in your posts.

In fact a few people have gone about going that route in this group and it has lead into absolutely nothing. Nothing except the fact that Toronto has the most concentrated amount of active players outside of maybe NorCal and yet you all can get nothing going. Week after week, month after month we come in here and it's the same exact thing. Drama, back biting, misguided attempts at building "hype", and then the inevitable squawking of birds fighting over feed.


So I can go on and on but I'll stop here. I will have to ask that things be kept civil. We've got nothing but love for those that are really trying to build up their community and will support in any way we can. But due to way things have been going for the past YEAR I will monitor this thread closely and will shut it down if need be.

Come on Toronto get your shit together. PLEASE?

People have made misguided attempts at building what they believe is "hype" and not only made themselves look stupid but the entire Toronto community for feeding into the drama that stemmed from this poor attempt at being something they are not. So please don't take this as a personal attack. We are all just hoping Canada gets their act together and keep our small but tight knit community thriving.

I don't tell you how to play and enjoy the game, so don't think that you can do that to me. Nothing that you say or do will change the fact that I main Edge Master and Dampierre. :)

What happened to the days where people respected the rules that a tournament organizer has set and were simply happy that there even was a tournament? For example if someone runs a tournament on Xbox 360 then so be it! Let them they are contributing to the community! If you don't agree enough that it makes you not want to go, don't go! Make your own tournament then! The more tournaments the better!

Same goes for Devil Jin. There is NO HARM in allowing him, no detriment to the community. If there is detriment, please show me the unquestionable proof of it, and I will gladly ban him. The only detriment that I see comes from the people who intentionally choose to boycott because of it while making attempts to undermine it on the forums.

Just to make everything clear, here are the guidelines for banning at the tournaments that I run:

-BANS are a last resort
-BANS are only based on severe gameplay balance issues that unfairly affect the competition *No Exceptions*

Based on this, Devil Jin does not qualify for a ban (until proven otherwise). CaS is banned because of the impossibility to train against all the potential variables of possible CaS combinations. Having a standard Devil Jin formula solves this by giving competitors a consistent hitbox/hurtbox to train for. There are people who enjoy Devil Jin, and I want them to be able to enjoy SCV to the fullest and feel welcome in the tournaments. If Devil Jin proves to be too overpowered for competitive play, I will have zero issues with banning him.

So again I say, if you are so passionate about banning him that you don't want to support the tournament, that's fine, but don't go around undermining the tournament and slandering the host. Instead please make your own tournament. The more tournaments the better! I will still come out and support your tournament if you ban Devil Jin.
 
Hi all. First of all I want to say I'm sorry for doing something that some people might see as not minding my own business as I am not from Toronto. I just want Canada SC community to thrive as a whole because I am a part of it now and something had to be done.

So here it is! Let's put old beefs behind and use this thread for what it's meant to be: contacting each other in a hope to set up friendly gatherings and eventually, tournaments.

Hey guys, I say the next gathering we have, we get bothhh Reptile and Partisan down. Their presence alone will get our fires blazing. We all know its true.

Ok, Here's how we do it.

1.) We pay for their uber long ass trips down to Toronto, and back!
2.) We sponser em with food and drink
3.) We put em up overnight if they choose to stay!

I will go as far as agree to sponsor 1 individuals whole trip all by myself, providing some peeps are stingy and dont/can't assist.
I believe if all of us put $10, maybe even $5, we can achieve this easily!

But before we start pooling our funds together, Id like a reply from both Reptile and Partisan, TODAYYY!!!!
Once we have their agreement, we can then set a date as to when it can be done!
Who's with me?
 
Whenever I come again to Toronto, I'm only gonna need a place to crash man. I really appreciate the intention though.
Now to actually figure out when's the next time I can come over. Maybe not before fall, but I'll keep you guys updated.
