Cervantes General Discussion/Q&A Thread

What's the followups to 3b and CH 3b? @docvizzo you not getting this?

After 3B its usually 2A+B 33B.

After ch 3B its 2A+B RCC 2A+B or 33B for easier one. Against some hitboxes though the 33B sometimes whiffs, but training mode sucks too hard to test.

Then of course after ch 3B you can try to go for the BT A+B JF combo relaunch. But its insanely hard and i dont think of much use in tournaments etc. Too strict timing. If you want to test it take Ivy as opponent.

It's been a while since I played, but I remember Cervantes has this roundhouse kick I used to use for a lot of ring-outs. The input is something like :aK: for a stand-alone kick or use his :4::B::K: string. I was pretty noobish and young at the time, so I don't know technical aspects like frame data and stuff for it. I just remember kicking a lot of people off ledges.

Hey his single roundhoudhouse kick is K6 in SC2. Its not that great though. 4BK is decent since its a CH combo.

Are there any uses for :6::B+K:? Or does it just take up some space on his command list?

Also, in the video I see instances of his using Cervantes' :A+B: series. How to implement that move I have no idea.

6B+K is just fast, but not very good. I dont recommend it. Also A+B is shit and has zero use. The video is just a skill projekt, nothing for ingame.

Both moves suck, dont worry.

Hey guys I'm new here, but I wanted to ask a few questions regarding Cervy:

1. In the Tharon Mortis vid (I've tried to find if he's still around but no luck) he did some remarkable things with a Soul Calibur combo Vid, it's what got me into Soul Calibur. I believe I can replicate most of what he does, but notice when he does a BT A+B JF near the end of the vid, he then somehow does another BT A+B immediately after the first?

Refer to 3:30 onwards for examples.

I thought this would be due to either Cervantes is technically counted side turned to the opponent and he can then do a loop of BT A+B, or is this a BT JF like his extentions from 4KK:A+B?

2. The relaunch combos, these are when the opponent is just aout to hit the ground, they count as standing up (a 1 frame window apparently), this isn't exclusive with Cervantes is it? I notice it with Yoshi 1B and other launches like Nightmare 4B and maybe Ivy.

3. Front page says DCB causes a relaunch too, same rules as above?

Thank youfor reading guys :)

Tharon Mortis's video is awesome. Do you guys know how to do the instant guard in the stance (in 1:58)? Is the input a:G (cancel the unblockable)?

tmd02, you can find the answer through SC2 dolphin's TAS input and frame advance. It save you a lot of time.

tmd02 iirc Cervy muti-BT A+B was a JF, but not done as A+B(after 1st A+B, which is done normal input) but the rest were input as A:B or B:A(one of those 2) sorry been a while strict timing but very possible..as a matter of fact, after the starter BT A+B the rest is actually an infinite combo if you can do it, i have witness this in tourney play and it is sad to see happen even from a spectator pov, i believe it was executed 4-5 times in a row after 3B launch, and the round was over at that point... there are a few ways to set it up other than what is in the vid, but it covers the based entry methods to obtain it.

Also credit to my baby(JFC) GI-throw glitch... it forever changed SC2 in a way that the entire game/player mindset took on a whole new level of perspective in play and competition...any vid with JFC demonstrated in it will show this to any non-believers...Never forget!!!

JustKill, Nice. Have you tried Dolphin emulator? You can test anythings with TAS Input and Advance Frame. So cool.

Silentwall, i haven't and i probably should have it already at this point just for SC2 since i missed my chance at SC2HD(unless it is still available on PSN) , what are the min specs for running Dolphin on PC anyway? thought there was a tutorial for easy set-up, i think it is on the site somewhere, just that...back to sleep.
