DARK SOULS 2- Praise the sun

Was doing some PvP as a Dragonbro trying to rank up and I thought, "Hey, why not record this?" So I did and edited them together in this montage :D Hope you enjoy!

heh heh, seems like some people still don't know about the "guard smash" move ^^

Oh so you can break guards in PvP... that's weird, because whenever I tried it, then enemy remained guarding and wasn't staggered at all.

it's forward+R1. you kinda just slap away their shield and you can run in and riposte them off it. i haven't had it happen to me yet, but i've gotten a few against havel turtles.

Does anyone know the best catalyst for faith build? I just want to cast resonant weapon. My int is about 20.
do you have the black witch staff ( i think that's what it's called)? the non-sword-wielding mages in undead crypt can drop one. it can cast sorcery, miracles, and hexes. probably a hexer's best friend imo.

Why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why are Reapers the absolute worst weapon class in this game or any other?

How are you supposed to use this crap?
The one-handed R1 is good, but at the range it is effective it can't combo into anything else.
It's got attacks that drag people towards you, but every other attack is only effective at it's maximum range. On top of that, those attacks have such short range that they drag people closer to you than any weapon would ever require... It combos nicely with daggers, but you may as well just be using the dagger and forget about the reaper entirely.

At no point during this playthrough have I felt any benefit to using one and I've found myself just switching to weapons I've picked up - Halberd and even Shortsword at times - I may as well be using a Halberd as it shares the only usable attack any reaper has and actually has other things.
I can't see anything redeeming here nor any specific reaper that would balance this out... It surely doesn't matter how much damage any of them can do if the only decent attack practically forces you to roll on hit. This is awful.

been playing with the profound still hex for my faith-strength character and the results are hilarious. for those who don't know about profound still it makes it so the opponent, and only the opponent, can't cast spells of any kind. so when they try to cast something and fail i shoot a lightning spear in their face.

sidenote: black firebombs are real as shit! got like 300~400dmg off one a bit ago. also the archdrake mace is probably the weirdest weapon in the game. it's a great hammer with the moveset of a halberd and is called a mace.

If you want the most out of your Hex you want Dark Caitha's Chime. It has an S rank in dark scaling and only requires 18 Int to wield. It can only be used for Hexes though so it's best to use it with a Lightning Dragon Chime for your miracles.

so i found out you get smooth & silky stones for using the mini-white soap. kinda neat and easy way to get them if you're not a ratbro

What's with the bullshit shockwaves that one-shot you?
I'm getting pretty sick of pvp already. Also, in the network test invaders could heal. Now they can't, but the host gets to chug as much as he pleases. It almost always ends with me whiffing my lovely linear rapier or an incorrect input coming out. (Fucking guard break) so as I'm trying to pressure them down they stunlock me because poise is broken, deplete 90% of my health and I'm forced to run off and use the goddamn ring of restoration to recover. I haven't been using pyro so no warmth.
It's seriously dumb, you can heal in duels but not in real no-holds-barred invasions.
Might as well throw in phantom range salt, I shouldn't be forced to roll. I try and zone with normal movement but I have to over-compensate and therefore can't punish effectively when I bait my opponent. More often than not, I whiff a lunge right in front their nose and am forced to roll and use my stamina.

Git gud scrub

Does it work with all hexes?

I would git gud if I could. i was talking to a hexer yesterday that said you couldn't roll it or anything. You have to hope you either aren't in range or can interrupt otherwise you die. The wave is large enough to make it almost impossible to escape with high cast yess.
Also got shot with a soul spear or something through a wall.

Oh god... I tried to invade with my dual-Caestus character and each was basically the same... a guy in Drangleic Armour using a longsword, although one of them was using Claymore. I can't actually attack them.

If they R1, I have to roll:
If I rolling attack there I get hit by the second R1, even with Caestus... but usually you just end up rolling past them anyway and being out of range.
If I roll towards at all, I have to roll again, moving me out of range or I'll get hit by the second R1, even though I'm nowhere near them... usually behind them.
If I roll away, I still have to roll again though. For some reason, I still get hit by a Longsword R1 and I'm acres away from them.

Then comes trying to punish the second R1...
You can't! They can just roll if you make any attempt to go near them! And seeing as I'm using Caestus I have nothing to punish the roll with.

There's never a safe moment to attack, I can't punish rolling at all... all the while I'm getting pressured by a 200 foot Longsword. The lag never seems to be in my favour though, but I'm guessing it is and I just can't tell.
I mentioned earlier that I'm a good roller, so these invasions ended up going for so long that I either ran out of time or got so sick of not being able to hit them that I'd just give up and rush at them.

The PvPs been mostly good besides that character, but I am starting to get sick of R1 spam.
Did you know that when dual-wielding standard greatswords R1, L1, R1, L1 is a combo..? You can't really survive that.

this^ this is why i dragonbro now.sure estus is still stupid, but you get access to it too. the ruels for dueling should be what invasions are and vice-versa, but they aren't yet. so just dragonbro and chug all the estus you want.

Ok my bad. There's a shit catalyst that can cast everything.
It's not weak, but no, it's not the best. Still, there's a strategical advantage.
With this staff out you could cast anything next, not just Scraps of Life, Darkstorm or Resonant. You can't gauge their possible attacks based on the weapon they've got out, because it could be anything.

Shame they removed the ability to cast pyromancy that it obviously had at one point...

Got my double Caestus no body armor character to the Iron Keep tonight. Already killed the Lost Sinner. Machismo and friends kill who they please.

Running through the game this way with two friends doing the same build is way too much fun. Even if some of the bosses are super resistant to punches....

Hey dark soul buddies im debated on this...i been to the dark souls forums and most people have been giving me the same answer and im still not sure if this stat is worth it or not. For my dex character i have 36 adaptability on him and im SL125 so is it worth having high adp or no? Because right now im thinking about changing it because i don't really see a difference in having an extra I frame with high Adp
