I don't think most people are "okay" with Pat, period.
I’m honestly okay with Pat. His fighting style is pretty different from the grace of Sophitia’s and the energy of Cassandra’s.
Edit: What does Talim have to do with X1, and why isn't she viable?
It’s because Talim has more style than practicality in her form. Often she’s viewed as a low tier character in competitive play for the games she’s in. She has a lack of range, low damage, and constantly throws herself out before her attacks. You’ll find yourself struggling to get a decent reward with her despite all the risks you have to take.

On that note, how should Nightmare look? Should he have a human host with full armor, or being a demonic energy possessing a suit?
I know Sieg in IV sorta counts, but it'd be cool if we had Soul Calibur possess someone ala Nightmare complete with appropriate body horror. One of my first major forrays in unorthodox methods of character creation in V was to make my own vision of that concept.

I'd like to believe we'll get a full roster reveal in December but we'll likely have to wait ages. I at least hope that if they announce it via trailer then we get to see some of the old classics, that should be enough of a reveal.

It really hurts having to wait and see which characters get added in the game leading up to it's launch. Especially those that have to wait days before the launch of the game.

Me personally, I think I am safe considering my main has been in every entry from SoulCalibur onward, but for players that main characters like Talim, Setsuka or Zas, it really sucks.

I wouldn't skip SoulCalibur VI if they didn't include my main character, although I would certainly be bitter about it. I have met a few people that either stuck to IV or abandoned the franchise entirely due to an absence of their character in V.

These days it seems like all these businesses do is tease us with stupid hints and teasers with ridiculous images. " Here is a picture of a character's left toe and the tip of their weapon. Watch as these poor guys scour the internet for character models to compare toes and weapon tips hahaha. "

Call me crazy, but I like to know what I am buying. I know I am deviating from what you said, but I really dislike how they push people to preorder games when we don't even know what they include. I would LOVE to know which characters are going to be in the game up front. Save the surprises for DLC.

The Talim not being in SCVI was a joke because the game wasn't coming to XB1. I said it because Talim isn't a viable character. I'm not hating on Talim. Character viablity is important.

Maybe it's just because I've run myself ragged as of late with not sleeping much as of late (I'll partially blame this hype train I'm on) but.... why don't they just give Talim wind element effects to her moves? Especially now, if she is back (which I have no confirmation of as like I've said before I only currently know 7 characters.... ok 8 now actually as of today, but more on that later) and older, more ingrained into the wind priestess life.... you would figure and hope they highlight that in a logical way that reflects her abilities increasing.
Giving her WIND! effects to her attacks because THE WIND! would help guide her in a higher tier direction finally by adding better reach and properties to her attacks. I'm not saying they have to go full Rashid or whatever. But giving her more wind element to her attacks could seriously help, be cool, and make perfect sense for her maturation and role.

He shouldn't return. He sucks as a character, he sucks moveset-wise and he sucks story-wise. I'd rather have three random characters again than crap like him.
If they don't bring Rock back, then they're obligated to bring Bangoo in this time around since he was the one canonical in-universe newcomer everyone thought would be introduced as playable on SCV due to the time skip and the potential he would have, and yet.... no Bangoo. :I

I have to say, among all the questionable decisions that V made with its roster, not having Talim, Zasalamel, and Bangoo helped make the time skip all the more baffling and pointless feeling to do when they didn't bring in the characters that would've gotten older and matured into adults (Talim and Bangoo) while Zasalamel would've been around because he's immortal and there's no reason for him to be left out of involvement in the happenings to some extent.
I'm going off on a tangent now, but you get my point. lol

Who the fuck is Marcus Sellars?

Lmao. I was wondering the same thing. I think someone mentioned who he was several pages back, but I am just too lazy to look him up. : /

I think we can consider him as kind of legit.

Haha!

And ofcourse I had to edit my post because SSFox answered it only a few posts after lol. I really need to finish reading everyone's posts before replying lol.

The OG characters I hear people missing are mostly Taki and Kilik. How do people feel about Cassandra, Sophistia, Talim, Setsuka and Seong Mi-na?
While I know Cassandra & Talim have big fanbases, I don't really hear anyone talk about Sophitia, though she is considered iconic with everyone else and usually the most plot ingrained character. I don't hear anyone ever beg for Seong Mi-Na though. To be honest, I wouldn't be against having her but I never really liked her to begin with because I found her to be very boring of a character. All of her endings are just about her following Yun-Seung around and cock-blocking him from Soul edge. Every game. It would be nice if she got rebooted to because I don't even remember what her actual story is.

The only thing I don't like about Talim is that all her dialogue is generally the same thing over and over again. She could use more depth to her motivations too, but shes not as bland as Seong Mi-Na is.

While Zasalamel would've been around because he's immortal and there's no reason for him to be left out of involvement in the happenings to some extent. I'm going off on a tangent now, but you get my point. lol
I kind of which they expanded with some characters being connected to his ordeal, or his cult or something just to further that lore he has involving Soul edge. Not a replacement, but a subordinate or scribe to him like Tira, its not necessary but could be interesting. I kind of wish all the characters had some lore connected to them unlike characters like Seong Mi-Na, and Rock who seem to exist for no reason in relevance to it.

Leixia is literally discount Xianghua. So she's so unmemorable that even Patroklos outranked her on the popularity poll. Patroklos.
Even the most hated character in V is liked more than her cut+paste inception. Its pretty sad that Leixia even if she plays slightly different, she is a characterized as a just a clone of her prior. Even her looks don't give her any real justice. No wonder shes forgettable.

I wouldn't say Patroklos is liked more. Rather, Leixia just failed to make any impression on audiences because she's so bland and forgettable hence why almost no one voted for her. With Patroklos, he damn well made an impression and it was a negative one. We know all about him thanks to story mode, and even after being billed as the new hero of Soulcalibur, he's still the most hated character of them all. It's telling when freaking Rock had twice the votes he got. Anyways, it's more Leixia being completely uninteresting as to why people didn't vote for her, despite the hate being much less prominent than Patroklos outside of it.

Yep, but Talim & Zas deserve to not be in SCV because they aren't viable.

One that has the same problem as Leixia, being that she is just 1-dimensional, unrealistically optimistic and has no story or serious tone about her at all.

Story in SCV was poor period, but I like Leixia's oki game(I hope Xianghua has it in SCVI and isn't OP)

I honestly found Pat far more interesting than Rock and Leixia really.

Indeed, for a character that speaks so much about the wind, she doesn't do much with it in battle. Save for her Critical Finish in SC4, the only times you'll see her using any kind of power are in her endings in SC3 and in SC4 and its hella broken stuff: in SC3, she single-handedly destroys Soul Edge by calling upon the wind to do so and in SC4 she shows to be able to revive dead people, as she brings Algol's son back. Its just confusing how she doesn't use any magic in her actual fighting style, even the fan fighting style from SC3 used wind attacks.

I was one of the people surprised by Bangoo's absence. I mean, it was THE opportunity for them to make Rock have any sort of meaning in the story, and maybe even give Bangoo an actually good version of his moveset. Besides, Bangoo looked really badass in one of Rock's endings in previous games:

I also agree on the point you made about aging. The closest things we have to that are Patroklos, Pyrrha and Viola, but even then, we never saw Patroklos and Pyrrha before SC5 and it was never truly confirmed if Viola is actually Amy, no matter how much they are alike. It seems they held back even when aging the rest of the cast, I mean, only Mitsurugi and Siegfried aged out of all the veterans.

Ah, great. You got me all excited to know who the 8th character is.
Wait, Kilik, two veterans who have been in every numbered installment (Mitsurugi/Siegfried and Ivy), Kilik's rival, the rival's friend, the Fire Emblem thingy... those are six. Verberan didn't reveal anything about the 8th, but I'm missing the 7th too.

Leixia is literally discount Xianghua. She's so unmemorable that even Patroklos outranked her on the popularity poll. Patroklos.
Yeah, she really has no purpose at all, except showing how much Xianghua moved on after getting a son with Kilik. Like, destroying an obvious romance, that is really her only purpose, its not even like she has a very different personality or moveset, at least Patroklos has a very different moveset to his mother (in his "base form") and has a different (yet repulsive) personality.

I doubt Talim will return, nor will Taki. I have a feeling the "new" ones who won't return will just be Xiba and Leixia.

Now, Talim fans shouldn't be sad about this. I am willing to bet they will add some feral character that will replace the playstyle at least. Just like Taki was replaced.

Oh yeah, I doubt Setsuka will return either, but the playstyle will be preserved.
