But she'd be 11.
The source you gave isn't from Namco themselves, I wouldn't trust it.

Anyways, I think it's more than SCI. Because of this artwork:

Apparently this depicts an event from SCII. So I think it's more of an MK9 thing.

According to Bandai Namco, it will "revisit the events of the original Soulcalibur to uncover hidden truths with a diverse lineup of new and returning characters."
I don't know, sounds like Namco to me...

We can only wait and see. It would be ridiculous at this point to not include Talim, but I feel at this point they'll be rewriting bios and changing the whole timeline. I'm not against that, I just struggle to see them doing it given the hoops they jumped through for V.
Perhaps that was just the "Daishi fan fiction" talking.

Maybe they mean the Soulcalibur series before SCV? I just find it impossible to believe they would cut and leave more iconic characters hanging for this. The fact that there's new characters involved suggests an altered timeline to me.

They both sound different to me. I know Sophitia in the past games had a very distinct voice, and this doesn't sound like it.
I really beg to differ, to me the tone is quite similar while the voice is altered from the more mature Sophitia we know to a younger one. HOWEVER I can be mistaken, I'm more proficient in recognizing similar French voice actor :D
There is a big chance the game will revisit not only SCI, they just don't want to give away everything yet.
Let's hope so <3

I'm feeling a lot more hopeful for Yun-Seong due to Talim's inclusion(since he's been one of her few supporting characters in the series), but right now it's all about that ZASALAMEL HYPE!

i wonder if there's a specific reason they showed off all of Mitsu's regular throws, some of Sophitia's too... are they alluding to something or was that just a cheap way to stretch out the trailer? or maybe this way they're trying to make newcomers to the series more interested?
Maybe is it to show everyone that most moves are still there as well as the ones that were left out in SCV?

hm, i don't know...wouldn't it be kinda obvious that they wouldn't remove the throws? if they wanted to calm us down concerning movelists, they could have highlighted more moves that were actually absent from SCV. But these throws were all in IIRC.

Also, the new trailer confirmed (multiple level?) Armour Break again. After Sophie's Super you can briefly see that Mitsu is missing his sleeves as well as the previously removed shoulder armour.
Shoulder armour might have been a "high" equipment item, while his sleeves etc. are "middle"?

Totally don't care about story continuity and/or lore making sense. For real. I don't.

If they came out and said, "Hey guys, remember that time when Astaroth showed up at the 1902 World's Fair and invented the iPhone?"
I'd be like, "...sure why not..."

As long as the gameplay is fun and balanced, they can do whatever they damn want.

Tekken 7 is a shining example that the firm grasp on good fighting game principles Bamco currently has will be reflected in the new Soul Calibur, and this excites me greatly. I fully believe in their ability to put forth a game that is clean, quick, rewarding, and other, similar positive words.

Also I'm going full consumer whore and buying both the PC version and the PS4 version for PC MASTER RACE DOMINANCE when I'm at home and the ability to carry my PS4 + a Monitor for games with... GASP, ACTUAL PEOPLE.

PS4 version for online play and PC version for mods. If there will be cross play PS4/PC then better get PC version.

So I was thinking about which characters I'm most excited to see design-wise when I realized that, if Project Soul also remasters the 2P costumes, we'll get to see this beauty again:
latest

I. Am. Hype.
That costume was inspired by some Visual Kei bands and some of the fashion in the late 90s of the genre in that it had an historical look crossed with how it was glam goth looking.

Actually, characters have had "animal motif" throughout the series. It's especially prevalent in SC4, they just never incorporated it into the characters aside from aesthetics.

Mitsurugi = Tiger
Hilde = Wolf
Tira = Crow
Raphael = Bat
Voldo = Spider
Dampierre = Toad
Cervantes = Octopus
Yun-seong = Koi
Talim = Cat
Maxi = Dragon
Kilik = Phoenix
Siegfried = Griffin
Nightmare = Unicorn
Xiba = Monkey
Taki = Demon
ZWEI = Werewolf
Zasalamel = Scarab
Yoshimitsu = Ammonoid
Patroklos = Lynx/Caracal
Rock = Bear/Bull/Elephant/Mammoth/Sabretooth/Rhyno/Dinosaur
EdgeMaster = Lion
Olcadan = Owl
Lizardman = ...Lizard... Man?
Algol, Astaroth and Ivy seem to share snake/cobra theme.
Some may be connected to flowers; Xianghua/Leixia, Mina, Amy/Viola (rose/violet), Setsuka (cherry blossom), Sophitia (grape vine).
Amy's was butterfly. Viola's was moth.

https://www.bandainamcoent.com/news/soulcalibur-vi-announced-for-ps4-xbox-one-and-steam Check out the bottom of the page were it says "Platforms". It says: Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Console. Could "Console" be the leaked Nintendo Switch version?
Draw your own conclusions. But I don't think that was done by mistake given what I have been told.

Well, SCV did in fact had not lot of them, after showing Mitsu and Pyrrah, it was less than a week before new stuff appeared.

I think we might be in for up to 3 characters a month.
SCV was revealed in May of 2011 iirc. The point in the year that the game was announced lead to a mass of reveals because if you examine the annual year for gaming, from June (E3) onward is a trade almost show every month. The game then released in January 2012.

Mitsurugi got replaced too. Though Paul St. Peter returns as the narrator. I wonder how many actually reprise their roles after all these years.
It may be my own ears, but it sounds like Matthew Mercer is voicing Mitsurugi now.

Okay so, Soul Charge is back

Soul Charge is like V - Trigger in the trailer so Sophitia did 6A into 44B+K. If the game is meterless, the moves characters may have attacks during Soul Charge. Look at Li Long in SCIII have some moves only done via Soul Charge.

That's what I'm saying because SCVI is a reboot.

They say original styles are returning and new characters.

Seriously, this is gonna be long, I'm still overly excited by this announcement, so many questions need to be answered! Hopefully (and I have faith it will happen), they'll manage some alternate timeline to include every character, no matter the age they are supposed to be.

I think we might get a new character reveal(s) on the 15th. I'm almost certain it's the new character, Kilik's rival. Iirc with scv, they always revealed at least two or more characters at a time. So maybe if it is the new character, they'll reveal him along side Kilik?

Um, but doesn't that rather imply something like "veterans/veterans' styles" are coming back? We already know that Mitsu is in the game and SCV's Mitsu's style was still Mitsu, so no other "style" than SCVI obviously. Just his revamped moveset (fingers crossed).

So, why show all of his throws that are well-known to us and have never been removed in the first place?

Yes they would usually reveal 2 or 3 characters a month. Sometimes even 4. For both SC4+5. And there would also be a few months in which we got nothing at all.

I remember the month SC4 was announced, we got the CG trailer with Mitsurugi, Ivy and Nightmare, then a week or so later we got screenshots of them alongside Taki, Tira and Siegfried.

Though may be possible that new character might not be revealed until a few months later. They did this with Hilde too during SC4 promo.

My opinion regarding the story is that they're gonna pull a Mortal Kombat X:
Events from SC1 and events from SC6 (after SC5) that are gonna be tied together.

Mortal Kombat X was very clever in the way that they combined classic and new characters together as well as younger/older/undead/non canonical older version of every character so that most of fans could be pleased.
Soul Calibur would benefit a lot from this.
