Soul Calibur 6 Discussion

I'm not "blaming everything on Hoshino", I'm just wondering who was more at fault for the lack of SCVI over the years.
Well... Not sure who directed SCII-IV. Daishi Odashima was the man behind V, and he left (or was fired, God knows) after that. Hoshino took over in 2013 and did Lost Swords, but of course we all know how that was. He left too.

So I guess the seat was empty. I also recall Project Soul members being relocated by Namco at some point.

You know what annoyed me about V? They had costumes/skins for characters locked in a single mode and can't be played anywhere else. They did that with Tekken 7 as well. I hope they don't do the same for this game this time around.

To be honest I just think it's about preference. Honest, loyal, "good" characters aren't as appealing to me, or at least they need a bit of an attitude to go with their personality. Sieg is entirely unappealing to me as a main, I can respect him as a character but I wouldn't play him as he doesn't fit my aesthetic.

Tira, Raph, Mitsu, Ivy, Astaroth, Nightmare are cool to me though.

I thought Sieg was cool before SCIV. Then he became kind of a bland figurehead for Soul Calibur (the sword), and then kind of a bland mentor figure for Pat. It certainly doesn't help that he starts using one of Roger Craig Smith's blandest hero-guy voices.

So IDK I feel a bit concerned about Reversal Edge. Its an all encompassing auto parry that if it hits results in a slowed down game of RPS. Tho it looks like you can use a guard break on it and easily sidestep so who knows it may not be that bad

Anti-hero types are the best, Guts>Sieg. Even though I'd say Sieg fits the anti-hero archetype.

I'm not throwing shade at siggy though, I get his appeal he just isn't for me. I guess also Cassie>Sophie?

If i remember things right, it's actually worse than that for Sophitia- Rock actually had a broken weapon from a fight with Lizardman and tied her despite it.

This is the same character that got bowled over by Astaroth when they met, and his results against the holy warriors is actually pretty good.
To be fair, Sophitia doesn't have the best scoreboard anyway, which makes sense since she has no actual training prior to being chosen. Her skills are god-gifted but can't necessarily compete with some of the better fighters.

How the heck does Cassandra know how to fight? She certainly ain't gifted by the Gods, just a baker's daughter.

Yeah that's concerning. It's kinda redundant when you think about it, guard impact is basically a RPS mechanic. I fear it might break the pace of the game.

The only time we saw Sophitia's "gift of the gods" was in SC4, in her Critical Finish. Otherwise, she is not protected nor stronger because of it, in fact, the poor woman's life is a total mess because she is the gods' chosen. Besides, Cassandra apparently defeated Raphael in the little known canon events of SC4, since he is a quite remarkable fighter and a malfested vampire, it certainly took skill, also, she only started travelling with Rock afterwards, so she did it alone.

No one can deny it's cool as hell but I'm a bit skeptical honestly. I think it all depends on how many moves have fast enough recovery to still be able to block after getting Reversal'd, and whether or not the hit itself is unblockable.

I guess you're right.

Everyone else have been trained or are monsters yet this baker's daughter was able to beat Raphael (who is both trained and a monster). I just find it funny and wonder how the hell did she learn to fight.

I thought it had something to do with Sophitia's and Cassandra's weapons being blessed? According to NLoPS, that's how Pyrrha was able to wield Sophitia's weapons efficiently despite having no prior training.

And that was probably for the best tbh. Imagine going against your friends as Night Terror and having them realize that he can’t get RO’d on any stage lol.
Dunno. We like with my friend fight with "UNLIMITED" characters in BlazBlue (why they removed this in CF, WHY?), so fighting NightTerror vs NT could've been pretty fun.

We also see it in all the games since her sword skills were given to her alongside her holy weapon. Sure she might have had a lot if natural talent(heck, you could probably argue the weapon only gave her the knowledge to use what her natural talent already provided), but she essentially got gifted the ability to fight strong warriors with lifelong training by Hephaestus.

1. The weapon have the blessing, not Sophitia herself, so the logical assumption is that Cassandra likewise got her immediate skills from that, since she went on a journey with the holy weapon first.
2. Raphael has no canonical victories, so he's not a good measuring stick in the slightest.
3. Raphael was attempting to rob her mid-battle and succeeded.

Finally:
You have a piece of Soul Edge, don't you? I can feel it," the man said, and in an instant he was upon her. After a hard fight, she was able to finally land a blow on her assailant, but he only sneered at Cassandra and vanished, "So, girl, you can ward off evil, though not as strong as the Holy Stone. Interesting. I'll let you live... for now."

"You're going to run?! You coward!"

A laugh echoed around her. "I already have what I came for." Panicked, Cassandra searched her tunic, but the fragment of the cursed sword was gone.
Not so much a real victory as her managing to barely scratch him(but since she has natural purifying abilities, it actually stung him pretty badly).
