Heads up, DOA6 is going to be announced later most likely. 3D fighter renaissance, perhaps?

It still doesn't feel right without something new from the progenitor of the subgenre. Can't believe VF5 first hit arcades 11 years ago. DoA fans don't know how good they've got it.

Not a renaissance just a repeat of 2011/2012 when a bunch of fighters were all announced and released at the same time.

only difference is that virtua fighter remains in the grave

Speaking of SCIII's intro. Not sure how many have seen this, but the soundtrack for SCIII included a neat look at the motion capture for the intro:

Look at those computers... 1:27. They were outdated even back then but they delivered us one of the best intros in videogame history. This is called passion... you can see it in the smiles on their face 0:23. I am sure Namco / Project Soul has better computers now but just look at SCV intro... it sucks. It is not about the technology at your disposal but about the people who are behind it.
A lack of passion (or time) in the development team can kill a game. Specially if you rush it because you don't have enough time to do it properly. Soul Calibur VI deserves to have a better intro than SCIV and V. We want something at the level of SC III / II / Soul Edge

Can we talk about something more relevant and exciting than intros? How about: what role will Kilik's rival play in the story? Will he be a random fighter that wants Soul Edge and Kilik is in his way? Is he a servant of Nightmare? Is he connected to Kilik himself?

I don't find it a irrelevant topic at all. Usually a good intro equals a great game.
In fact it gives us some important information about the team behind the game. If they have passion or not. It is a very relevant thing considering the Project Soul team is very unstable and has changed a lot through time.

That is not how it works. At all.

The character at the end of the SCVI trailer with the dual blade is a guy, yes.

He's an assassin with some kind of personal grudge against Kilik. Him wanting to kill Kilik is more for pleasure than business.
The new guy's parent is also a newcomer. So yes, you're getting new character that is older in age added as well. People who like the idea of some new characters that aren't fresh faced newcomers should be happy. They also aren't meant to "replace" anyone and are something new to the series moveset-wise.

SCV and SCVI's announcers are both Paul St. Peter. He just sounds less quiet and unenthusiastic as he did on V. No offense to the guy, but he did a terrible job on V. But I think it was more the voice director not telling him to emote properly and speak louder. I do still think he's miscast as he sounds far too reserved and not bombastic enough to be a properly effective announcer to make things feel as epic as they look. But whatever.
Since you probably can’t answer any serious questions about this newcomer, what is his hair color lol

Virtua Fighter played a lot like Tekken, and considering how succesful the latter is, Virtua Fighter would have a hard time trying to differentiate itself from it.

From the way he put it, it seems the second character is female, but I don't think he means "parent" per se but rather "folk"... maybe sister? Cousin? Daughter?
I don't see why, it sounds like it could easily be a male. Regardless, the oldest woman we have is Ivy, and she doesn't really age too much, so, I wouldn't mind an actual old woman.

In that case yes! It would be "strange" to have just new male characters, as for every game they introduced at least 1 male and 1 female.
We don't know if these two are the only newcomers.

I bet it's grey.
Would fit his color scheme pretty well.

Exactly what i said ^^
It's not always the case - but a great intro is like the first Eye Contact/Sight

But what i really noticed - the earlier the game the more love was put into it.
And i really miss the "love" for many games nowdays ... Especially long Series like Soul Calibur.

The love/passion is missing more and more - Video game industruy is now all about the money in first place....

Wow those footages are so amazing, it brought me back in the past. Dude Namco were really the kings in the end 90's early 20's. And those videos show it. Their games were innovative, cutting edge in every aspects, and the creativity was on its peak. Namco will always stand as my favorite company of all time. (Namco Namco i mean of course, without the Bandai thing)

I will always have a special place for SC2's intro

When I was younger, I thought Cassandra and Talim were going to be more important to the story than they actually were. Based solely on that intro.
Well, they are in the intro because they are new in the game. Same reason why Yun is also there or Sets its in the SCIII intro.

If they give him Vergil's hairstyle from Devil May Cry 3 (white/greyish colour) I am sold. It is badass:

I really do hope that the other new character is the rival guy's mother. I know Namco has this stupid aversion towards women over 35, but my god they need to get the hell over it. A middle-aged lady who knows how to kick some ass would be a welcome addition to the roster and would be a nice change from all the teens and 20-somethings. And I'd hope they'd actually make her look her age, rather than just give her gray hair and an old-sounding voice, with the face of a 35 year old.

What are you guys' ideas for the story mode and how it will be presented?

Obviously we know that it's going back to just before SC1, and according to the leaks Kilik is going to play a large role in the story. I'm wondering if maybe the story mode will be, actually, less like Mortal Kombat & Injustice, and more like DOA5 in the sense that it doesn't just follow one overarching plot, rather focusing on separate characters and their interactions along the timeline. So maybe for one chapter we'll see Sophitia setting off to go and find the wielder of Soul Edge, then another chapter we'll see the motivations of Kilik's rival, and then Taki's story with her master comes into play, we fight CAS demons and she seals them away, before realizing that Toki is corrupted and then she sets out to find Cervantes too, then we see Kilik's side of his rivalry (idk what the basis of the rivalry could be but hopefully it's juicy enough to have its own segment), then we cut to Siegfried, the accidental murder of his dad, and his desperation to blame someone for it so he also goes on his quest to find Cervantes, then we go back to Sophitia, she gets wounded, then Taki arrives and kills Cervantes before healing Sophie, and then obviously Siegfried finds the other blade of Cervantes' Soul Edge pair and gets possessed and the evil seed is released yada yada.

Basically what I'm getting at is that I think the story mode will follow separate character's intentions like DOA5, along multiple game timelines, and then bring them together. I also think the SC1 storyline doesn't have enough substance for it to be its own cinematic experience, and that the story for SCVI will either cover the three year gap between SCI and SCII, or will jump from timeline to timeline. I'd love this to be what the story mode will be like though, because seeing each character properly fleshed out before seeking out the swords without having to read about it in character bios would be so cool. I'm sorry for how long this is, I got carried away, I'm just really excited because I love SC lore and the idea of seeing it unfold in crisp, Unreal Engine 4 graphics at 60fps makes me want to slam my pussy into the ground.

Edit: No one replied, I'm sad no one else is as pumped about the story mode as I am
