Well... New Caledonian Crested gecko's were believed to be extinct until 1994, when after a tropical storm, high populations were found on their native Island of New Caledonia.

The problem is, ideally they are thought to live from 15 - 20 years, but none have been in captivity quite long enough for a definitive life-span determination.

Hopefully I can provide a good enough home to have him around for many years.

Cute. And they're not on a watch list or anything? Maybe you could help the little guy and his species out by getting him a lady friend :).

And how do they take to holding? I know some species of reptile actually like affection, but not most, due to the fact they lack nurturing instincts.

Well, It is being considered for protected status... but so many people are breeding them right now. I mean, there are breeders and forums all over the web and It seems to be really gaining popularity.

My little buddy is pretty easy to hold. Although, he (and I say he lightly, could be a girl, cant tell yet) is in no way tame yet. Apparently they tame well over time and are very easy going. I am currently 'hand walking' him for 5 mins a day. You pick him up in his tank, and put one hand about 4" in front of the other and have him jump from hand to hand like that. It is getting him used to me and picking up my scent. But if I take him out of the tank, he'll run up my arm at full speed and chill on my shoulder. Lol!

I am just crazy about his dumb ass and once I find out the sex, I will be purchasing an older one of the opposite sex and I will attempt to breed the little buggers. Can't wait.
 
God, YouTube comments make me want to take 10 of every pill in existence and wash it down with bleach. I get headaches thinking about how stupid some people can be.
