I think FT2 all tournament and FT3 in finals(losers/winners/GF) is ok.

FT1 Single elimination is shit.
Depends on:
A The attendance numbers
B The regularity of the tournament

If it was a weekly tournament I'd run it mainly for casuals and have a single elim FT1 tournament going with it. I never said make EVO single elim FT1s or anything, lol.
Furthermore there's a lot to be said for FT1's, when your back's against the wall your reactions will be sharpest and your reads will be much more influential in the final outcome thus more important. The Japs do it and I firmly believe its a strong contributing factor to why they routinely body westerners. Decapon didn't get the skills he has genetically after all, the format played is one of the things that make the japanese players so good imo.

When I said the Japs do it I was thinking about Tougeki, but yes single elimination as I understand it is how its done there, I dont know if the minors are ft2 or not themselves though. In any case its a damnsight less forgiving than the way we run things in europe and across the pond and they're generally stronger players for it.

I think that they are sooo good only because they train harder than any other players. I think they like SinglElim because it is more entertaining to watch to them. But as for me FDE is more interesting.

And all major tournament go like this(last 2 years SBO is was bad and now it is gone), so usually i see local tournaments as training for a big/international. And i preffer to train with the rules that i will see there.

Maybe SI FT1 is good for weakly tournament as you said, but just for fun, couse nobody will take it seriosly) This format needs little bit different mindgame.
