Three brothers -- ages 13, 18 and 20 -- were ambushed and killed Monday night in a dispute believed to be over a video game.
The victims were killed as they drove up to a young woman's house near Spring Ridge, where the dispute over an X Box game had started.
The suspect, who was charged Tuesday afternoon, had accused the brothers of taking his X Box game and was waiting in the woods when the victims pulled in the driveway, Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator said.
Family members identified the dead as Jean Adams, 13, a middle school student; Jarquis Adams, 18; and Jeremiah Adams, 20, a student at Southern University.
Arrested on three counts of first-degree murder was Marcus Donte' Reed, 33, of Hoyte Drive in Shreveport.
The brothers, who are from the Keithville area, were killed around 10 p.m. outside a house off Keatchie-Marshall Road. Reed's girlfriend lived there, Prator said.
Investigators said the victims and the suspect had been at the girlfriend's house earlier in the night and Reed had accused them of taking the X Box during a burglary the day before. The brothers left the house and were ambushed when they returned, investigators said.
"He (Reed) thought they had burglarized his girlfriend's home and stolen a video game system," Prator said. "The home was broken into on Monday but was not reported to authorities. Deputies say no evidence has been uncovered that the Adams brothers were involved in the burglary, but it remains under investigation."
Sheriff's deputies said the killer was waiting in the woods for the victims and opened fire with an assault rifle when they stopped in the driveway of the house.
Patrol deputies responding to a report of shots being fired found the three victims in or near the bullet-riddled car. A rifle was found at the scene.
The Adams' pastor described them as solid citizens who attended church regularly.
