A tale of souls and swords, eternally retold...

Okay, Vilarcane. I think it's high time I left you some feedback.

...they're good.
...
No, but really, though, I don't know what to say if not that the level of detail you put into each of your CaS is absolutely mind-boggling. It really shows how much time and effort you put into them. My favorites are Tali, the Alien Space Marine, and the insect series. Kratos is spot-on. Your Bruce Lee is cool, too, because, hey, it's Bruce Lee.

You're also very good at taking pictures. I thought that the ones you took for your second-to-final edit for Teeria really showed off her character. They say a picture can be worth 1,000 words and this is a prime example. "Beauty in the Rising Sun" Hilde is also a favorite. It's shameful for someone to say that they've fallen in love with a video game character, but that picture brings me very close to that, haha.

It's no exaggeration to say that I look forward to everytime you post new CaS, as is the case with some other names I look for in this forum. Great work.

Okay, that is exactly the kind of feedback i love to read, because that is exactly how i feel about the whole thing.
I don't know, maybe i am intimidatingly good (don't take me seriously, hey ;o), or as matty once commented, people don't really what to comment or find anything to fault (Le Bello's honesty is very much appreciated and he always comes with ideas for improvement, but he also sees them in game, and reviews them too ;o)

That you love the souls perspiring through the pictures really touches me, because the time and effort put into shooting is probably unknown to most of the 8wayrunners. It is a very complicated process (especially on xbox), and i kinda find it sad that none of the other creators out there use that, because the quintessence of a CAS is how good he looks and sounds in-game...
It is all about create a soul after all, right ?
And i am also in love with some of my female CAS (wife comes first of course, hey, just in case she reads me ;o), like Dollface, or of course Hilde, and Teeria.

It probably takes one or several hours working from artwork to final tweaked CAS, and another shooting, editing the best pictures and posting...the same goes for all of us, so that is why it is very important for the creators you like to get frequent feedback, a forum is not all take and no give...because we all have a real life, too ;o)
That is why i try to post regularly on other's thread as well, to boost their own morale (if the CAS i see are worth commenting of course)...

I can remember Draco saying he got bored of getting little to none feedback at one point, and i felt for him 200%.

Also, i have tried to stop several times because it was bordering artistic addiction, yet i have found this community to be the most pleasant and well mannered of all, and tried to become an honourable member of it.
It was very nice to see i got a spot in the armoury headlines too (thanks to mon ami Le Bello), so here i stay...it would be futile to try and deny it.

So please, ask questions, ask for formulas (some are pretty darn complicated), comment, criticize, steal, it is just fun to read

Oh it did. And it is beautiful! You went for that washed-out sun look, and it matches Hildegaru perfectly. (She's also poetry in motion in a fight. You should all check her out sometime.).

Still can't chose between this and Atlante. =/

CAStounding ?

Why you're not entering that Ivy in my contest is beyond me, but hey to ho to hizzay. For a modern CaS, I kind of like it. It's not one of my favourites, but it's got appeal dawg.

Loving the angles of the fight - It looks like a cheesy 90's style action sequence, namely: Lots of poses and little hitting. Great stuff =D

I imagine this board, and the creations we all make fit into peoples lives in different ways. I have been curious since the beginning why the creators here do what they do. It seems to break down into camps... there are- the writers who have elaborate back stories to drive their images - Gamers who believe in the construct of the game and wish to create characters within the boundaries of that reality, and visual artists who let the elements of create a soul drive them ....

There are other ways to view it... and other inspiration I have not listed.....
....but...I think it is fair to say that anybody still posting here now is driven by something, and, being driven can sometimes be frustrating.
There have been times that I will be happy with something and get no reaction... and other times when I whip something out and get praise when I don't see why .... Advise for change I disagree with, making me feel arrogant when I stick with my original vision ... and times when I can't see a solution that someone else on this board can.
That is part of an audience, you can't control it. If you could it wouldn't mean much.
I guess for me I try to respect nature of it ... and hope my desire to communicate or get a reaction doesn't alter the characters I create (in a pandering sort of way).

It can get addictive having a chorus of people at your finger tips who share this as a common interest. :)

I guess all I'm saying is, I hope you aren't too frustrated when you don't get feed back ... I'm sure people are watching and care . Just don't stop making stuff!

Very interesting post, i really appreciate your token of sympathy, and let me say i like that kind of philosophical debate a lot.

Well, yes, it can get frustrating, especially when you see new posters blossom in other threads and yours gets a daunting number of hits and views yet little actual comment or discussion, which is what i kinda expect...What motivated me is :

1- part getting some attention (like all posters here, all nay sayers would be in pure and utter denial ;o) and credit and respect from the community (no doubt this is mission accomplished ;o)
2- part feeling useful (like helping new creators understand the process, the tricks, and how to get some wow factor in their creations)
Hence i tend to get frustrated when i go the extra length to explain things and get no "reward" for it.
Or when nobody gives a shit about my quizzes ;o)

3- and as an artist, the satisfaction of creating something visually appealing and creatively fresh (not that i manage to see everything posted here though, so apart from you and a few others i follow, i can't really tell if what i do is always fresh or not, at least it very rarely borrow any technique and follow my own path of discovering the depth behind the CAS editor)

4- and i like to play with my CAS, against Le Bello, Darkdrdnaught and my kid, because this is where they really and truly shine, this is where they reveal their soul.

I guess people tend to browse and consume more than post and engage in-depth dialogue because this forum has a huge amount of posts and a neverending fresh batch of CAS, challenges etc...
The best proof of that is that i deployed a clever marketing technique and robbed you of a sure win with an over the top Alien Hooker and constant spamming with new pics...like Pocky and other said, clever, it grows on you...
Yet nobody asked about the design execution itself (which was very intricate), because they just enjoyed it or it just puzzled them enough to distinguish itself and emerge from the pack.

...so no wonder there, but i honestly think i need more fuel to keep going, and every time i get a post like yours, pacuzzi or fliptop's or a Le Bello's review, or a new guy comes in (even for a one-liner wow/awesome/whatever), you should see the big smile on my face...
The most precious of all feedbacks is the smile on Lil Vil's face though...jaw dropping way down, glistening eyes, priceless for a dad ;o)

Snippington.

This is all it's glory. You may not get the feedback you want, in the quantity you deserve, but people are enjoying your work nonetheless!

Also, Chobek, so much respect for using 'addictive'. For some reason, everyone is mis-using 'addicting' nowadays, and it's driving me loco.

Hello, my name is Vilarcane, and i am a CAS and feedback addict...
and i like to kick Le Bello's Cass as well ;o)

Well, don't be mad, as long as he giggles watching our replays...you are his hero too, you know...do you have some new fights with Le Bello, he asks me every evening ;o)

Tweaked Spetsnaz Ivy :

see first post (new pics and text and QUIZZZZ)

Well, we had a few interesting fights again my friend Le Bello...
I am sorry i failed to produce any resistance in the first few fights, curse goddamn Namco.
My Teeria never could display her win stances ;o(
Then we got those 5 bars, and it was another story ;o)

I saw some interesting female CAS from Le Bello, real nice one with feather decorated arms and a nice feel to it...
And those skeletons i like them too, simple yet effective...A bit more gradient and special equ, or a monocle maybe ?

See U

Oh you ALWAYS blame Namco. Just admit it, my Snow-Tiger Ninja and Luchadore-Inspired Wrestler mauled you. (Both my entries for the Iron CaS thread). Followed by two of my Avatar characters. I'm just that good Villy-dear =|;}P

I didn't do too bad on the 5 bars. Though my Damp was pretty bad this time. Ah well.

Digby is finished. He's too poor to own a monocle, and I waned to go for a patched, worn feel, so I can't use gradients on him. Though there's nowhere I would! I appreciate the suggestions though, but he's supposed to be a very simple dressed guy. The main detail is the barely visible clover on his hat.

As for his Big Band 2P design, I'm still love/hating it. So I may make changes. Or just 48 other outfits for him.

But the aliens have grown on me now, though I didn't like the comicy effects on their hits. Teeria is MUCH cooler in motion, and may have inspired me. But possibly not. The snakey-tongue is far more effective while she's weaving and wriggling around, and the colours work well with the light. Top notch sir.
