A tale of souls and swords, eternally retold...

Oh, the Miko Priestess one? I wasn't aware I'd used her twice, my bad. Next time there'll be more variation!

And Vilarcane seemed to thank you on my behalf for the second sentence here, but much obliged. I keep forgetting to change Kinglsy's voice... =/

Don't forget to give Maxi hair now Vil ;D
Yeah, but its because he's bald he is so Shaolin my friend ;o) Ok, for you, i'll give it a go...I guess i'll go for the only alternate monk haircut i can think of, one i never use, and should be as aerial as my flying shaolin.

Love the slideshow! You're getting much better with pictures, which show off the character far greater than simple win poses and such could ever do. Actually much easier in online replays because it gives you more possibilites. What bugs me is that i can't get rid of that god awful pause info box in the middle, stupid programmers that allow to get rid of the info bar and not this, then i would have doors of creativity wide open ;o((.
Those shots with Mista Koo's skeletons (actually, it is a poor armor broken fellow of his yeah) are breathtaking. And the last picture, I thank you for it. Leixia never seemed so pretty, if I do say so myself. This one i had to

And I'm glad you like my Cervantes. Trying to get decent with him, because I realised I'd not played him, but he's my kinda guy and I need a powerhouse in my team~ I love him too, that charisma and voice !

And yeah, I can see Claw's non-posts. Weird. If he could private conv me at least, we could figure it out

I did report CLAWS latest post and it got deleted, so most likely they are actually empty.

trolling ? weird...i got an alert who says he follows me...meh

It's the hair, it's perfect for Leixia (I too gave it to her) but it's ugly.

Ugly it is not, non-european haircut yes, but not ugly

Did you watch tales of souls and swords 2.0 my friend ?

I am trying to go for simple and effective (and human ;o) designs right now, so here are a few of the new "get down to earth" batch.
And i am also concentrating on making P3+ of characters i have not worked on yet (except Natsu once with the princess of Persia).

Froufrou (Leixia) :

c5cvvq2v5hwd0yncf.jpg

Design notes : nothing fancy here (or lots of ;o), just a lot of small touches here and there and a lot of attention to colors....

Ninja Twins (Natsu) :

I had 2 ninjas in SC4, and i never used the ninja mask in 5, so i figured i could do a pair of Ninja Natsus (P3 and P4) that would rule the world.

c5cw3pp3k9j3r8alr.jpg

Design notes :
- i used the snake ornament to create a small magical bow that fires arrows without a string (no not that string ;o)
- i went for ivy's gauntlet because it looks a bit like the ninja claws and makes the CAS look half cute, half fierce.
- i positioned the newly unlocked tiger head (and a few eyes) in the medallion stones.
- i used a pocket sticker and a few claw dents here and there to add a little touch to the mask
- secret ninja scroll in the belt ;o)

CLAWS seems to just be having errors, judging by his posts on Vil's profile.

The hair is a weird one, actually.
It's the first time I've changed the hair on a 3P (I'm adverse to doing so usually), and it's one I normally hate, but I feel it really works in this instance.

I know it's Shaolin, and technically accurate... It just scares me. Maybe a headband would be a middle-ground for 'fixing' it?

And yeah, it is kinda silly the PAUSE menu can't be hidden, though I suppose I can imagine the reasons for it.

  1. I gotta copy paste those love message from Claws on my profile page (i didn't get alerts for him posting there though ;o)
Oh well, windows wonders i guess, as reliable as SC5 netcode ;o)

Throwing in a few bonus pics :

This Conan just works so damn well in-game (i had this awesome fight against Wandrian the other day, one Le Bello did spectate i guess) :

now i gotta look at which P3 i never did before i go on vacation, far from you my virtual soul-mates the real soulmate is cuter) ;o)

Ok folks, this is gonna be my last update before holiday break.
I will still be there to read your comments of course, so don't stop ;o)

Okayyyyy, so Le Bello freaks out everytime he sees my bald (and bold) Shaolin Maxi (cool because i rarely lose with him, even gainst hairy Maxis *wink*)

So i figured out : what can i do about it for my old friend.

Also, i wanted it to be my answer to noregrets, who only came here to say 1 : he loved my bumblebee (which is good) and 2 : to imply i didn't know how to put a racoon tail on my khajiit CAS...
and then he never came back again to comment on my other stuff (sad, but no regrets ;o)
So, noregrets, if you read this, try and beat that racoon tail positioning (it takes some skills and patience, believe me)

For this one, I decided to go the same path i went with my old samuraï (the way of the samuraï ;o), and here comes

...Maxi's father Ryuku (he has exactly the same eyebrows, notice ?)

I tried to tell a story in a very Pocky Yoshi-cartoonesque manner...and put my last creative juices into it...

Design notes :

- He doesn't see too well, hence the asian glasses
- The tatoo is completely different than on young Shaolin Maxi
- The helmet ornament was used to create a fist blade
- 2 raccoons were killed to do the asian moustache and beard

Last but not least a few pics of Le Bello's CAS

Voilà !

Alright, then. After seeing most (if not all) of your designs in this thread, there's one thing that I did notice that's commonplace in each of them: You're quite good at consistency when it comes to your work. It's not easy to make it look better than the average in EVERY design you make, but you somehow managed to pull it off somehow. Even when it comes to creating a comical design or two, the consistency is still there (and that's an important trait to have, mind you).

Recently, it seems that your overall designs are starting to improve quite a lot, too - notably due to the fact that you've learned much from your fellow peers, which is important. Even then, you must always remember that true artistry MUST come from within yourself, and nothing else! >:)

If you can remember all that, your work can become even more greater than the ones you've already created. Just keep improving at your own pace, and you should be fine, VILARCANE. And before I forget, please improve your color schemes with a bit of experimentation. Not to mention that you also need to look back and learn from your past works as well....

...Other than that, I have nothing else to say about your work. But I must say that your consistency impresses me to no end - from your own first creation to the latest batch so far. Do take note that you still have a long way to go, but I think you're halfway there. Good luck! ^_^

Uh, ok, do i need to say "ouch" ? ;o))

While i agree on your introduction, i have to disagree about a few things you write there like : true artistry come from within yourself and long way to go...to where exactly, lol.

So i don't know what to think of your post really, i think my work is very much mine and mine only, and i very rarely borrow anything (and when i do i always credit my fellow creator, including Lil Vil), so that is a wee bit uncalled for ;o)
I think, on the other hand, many do borrow or get inspiration from me (at least i have been told so), which i love, because it is the spirit of this forum.

About the way to go, i like to think i have pushed the editor to the limits with my non-human CAS.
The same goes with presentation, where i learned along the way to pull good in-game shots and experimented quite a bit with different technologies of slideshows, which i only get comments for from the CAS creators i value out there. Btw, did you watch them ?

All out of love and respect for the game and this forum (which doesn't mean both don't bug me sometimes ;o)

Oh, and i am fine, so thank you Lonewolf !

Happy summer vacation to all of you !

Hitman :

That one is for Le Bello, another bald CAS to get his moustache all messed up ;o)

As I forgot to mention last night fighting the Hitman, his baldness doesn't bother me. It's Maxi's eyebrows that do. The creep.

But woahwaitaminutetherejimboy, I never saw this amazing Royal Guard Xiba. When did this happen? I'm trying to figure out what top he's wearing, or how you did that white collar part, or, what? WHAT?

Thanks mon ami...
The top (i assume you don't mean the hat) is a just a frilled shirt with a delicately crafted colored pattern.

The trick with the white parts of the shirt (collar and center part) is that if you use the "blue pocket" sticker on the back of your CAS and paint it white (it works with all stickers but a basic shape is required to do the trick here), it merges with this particular part of the frilled shirt, thus creating the desired bi-color effect on an otherwise monochromatic piece of clothing.
It is the only way i know of to apply a pattern and another color to clothes, gradient would only get half the job done.

I have tried my best to marry colors, patterns and stickers (like using the bird sticker to create more plumes ;o) in order to produce an elegant Xiba, compared to the rags he wears in his P1 (P2 is already much better IMO).
And i went for a completely different universe, as for my Hildegaru...
Nuff said, glad you enjoyed it !

Being a personal favourite, it's cool seeing Xiba customs. And I had a feeling it was the frilled shirt, but I couldn't be sure - Excellent work friend.

I'll definitely be trying this out when I get home. (Though having him in ragged clothing makes sense, you know?)
