A tale of souls and swords, eternally retold...

I feel for your PC, too bad it prevents me from reading more of your ;o)

and thanks HolyCarp for your nice post !

bumping latest (and last) slideshow link for Matty (may your PC not freeze on this one ;o)
I am trying magnifying glass because somehow, they are often overlooked by folks.
You got the update on first page with all links, if those in my sig are not enough ;o)

As a farewell present, let me throw in this last slideshow (starring another aspect of my CAS) :

Lol I must be as blind as a bat ;)

I can't really complane about mu computer as it was a hand me down from my partner so it was free.
Will look and coment a little later as its time to eat

Great slide show and of course the perfect choice of music, I will truly missyou stuff as its clear how much tiime and effort goes into each and every one of them

Thanks, since you are one of the few (until now) that actually put a kind word for my golden book before CAS retirement, and patiently watching the slideshows, here is one last bonus one for the blind bat you are ;o)

Allow me to exaggerate the font size a bit so your eyes can adjust...

Good bye from (Bo) Chobek

I of course will be sad to see you go... but I understand your need to rest on this.... It is quite a habit.
End of Souls and 3P recollection, what can I say other than that they are a lovely way to say goodbye.
Best of luck on everything else, and I will keep my eyes open for future comments and such. (maybe even new CAS I think this habit might be hard to kick. )

:)

Thanks guys
Thanks a lot to Bo for posting a pic of you and your home, it shows you care (from across the atlantic ocean), and i value that highly (and that dog is cute) ;o)

I sure hope i'll get a few of those "future comments" too, but i also know that when you quit, the die hard fans also move on, which is easily understandable. If anything, i would like to ask everybody here who reproduced, enhanced, or borrowed stuff from my CAS to post a few pics of their own here, that would surely keep it alive a bit longer, and that for sure would please me immensely (like that guy who asked for the Bruce Lee formula back then ;o)

Oh well, enough banter for tonight, i am getting emotional ;o)

Your 3p costumes show just as equal love as your originals, always well thought out and could be originals in themselves but at the same time fit the characters perfectly. Once agan thanks for showcasing your works its been a true pleasure

Thanks again mate-y.

Look, since i have been giving a lot, i have one request...
to see pics real HD pics of one of my CAS, as sharp as the ones in your thread. That is something i have always been a bit frustrated at, like many non PS3 gamers here, so i'd like to see how good one looks in full HD glory ;o)

Soooo...if i were to produce a text formula (i initially thought of a vid but that would involve more work for you) of my Christopher Columbus, would you care redoing him, and post pics of him either here or in your thread, at your own discretion (i mean that is a bit of work). I think you of all people would know how to capture the most artisti editor shots of him.

Something for you : looking at the nice conic hat on one of your creations, i figured you could do a crazy good conquistador hat with it...i was trying to make one for the alternate version of my Columbus, but i did not have that DLC with the cowboy hat, so i give you the hint, should you need it ;o)

your characters and your creativity will always be a great reference for me... as a Bible of CAS creation
Thank you for having shared with us

Writing down this formula I realized why it takes time to create CAS…sigh, a bit of a chore really ;o)

This design is all about working with colors (matching/blending/gradients etc.) and stickers to achieve a coherent and hopefully classy design, try it for yourself...

I'll be checking back to see if Matty helps does it HD justice ;o)

Alrighty, sat down and watched'em, full screened and everything. I hope you've brought a bloody ladder for this, boy. Here we go.

Tale of Souls and Swords 2.0: This would be the fanfare, right? It's got a nice triumphant feel to it, which I'm sure is deliberate. It's nice to see all your creations as a sort of ensemble. My only gripe is it's fairly long but, as you said it is about all of your creations and you do sort of have crap load of them so in terms of having them all in the one place, it was never going to be quick. With that being said, however, a lot of people could very well be turned off by it. This is obviously a personal collection, so I'd say not to worry too much about it if people don't enjoy this particular one all that much. As long a you do that should be all that matters.

Beauty and the Beasts: I've already spoken about the monkeys and I still really like those faces. The pygmy fella still stands out as being really unique, as well. What I really liked about it was the music. You chose a really nice song that keeps the momentum going and doesn't grate in the slightest. It might not fit with some of the more comical images (boxing gorilla) due to its epicosity, but ultimately it doesn't distract and keeps the whole thing rolling along. I liked it!

Online Symphony 1: Now you're just not playing fair! Woodkid's "Iron" automatically makes anything 100 times more dramatic and epic than normal! I've already commented on some of these but some the action shots on Le Bello's Pegasus Hilde are pretty fantastic. As mentioned earlier, awesome music, although the version here seems to cut out early, or is that just me? Doesn't matter, really. I love it.

Online Symphony 2: Beethoven! This one's got a bit of a recurring theme, documenting your bouts with Le Bello, which is a pretty nice idea. I'll be honest it does get a little bit repetitive after a while which might be down to it's length more than anything else. That being said, the Launcelot vs Dampierre fight was quite entertaining, especially with the expressions you caught on Le Bello's face. I also quite liked Le Bello's (the user) stone-cyclops ninja thing and your owl. I'm just wondering if that furry vest might look a little bit bulky on him. Not the strongest of the bunch, for me, but still a nice little showcase of your stuff.

Hildemotion: A much more focused display, this time, which is nice. Although she needs pants, man! She'll be freezing! Some pretty nice shots, some of them a little bit samey but overall it was pretty nice. Good music, too. It keeps everything anchored in the SC universe.

Project Soul: Aha, trying to sneak in your SCIV guys and hope people wouldn't notice? It's weird looking back at SCIV's created characters, though. Especially how some items didn't conflict then but do now. You know, now I'm just getting angry that the Kunoichi Robes and Nightmare Spine are gone, especially with the music. That's an interesting take on Lara Croft.

Skulls and Crossbones: Another nicely focused one. I like the little introduction of sorts with just having the skeleton there and the ending with your space hooker winking cheekily is a nice touch. Skelemitsu is probably my favourite out of these but the Lich Queen is also rather nice, especially in game. Good music choice, again, helped the show fly by in a good way.

Space Opera: Another good choice in music, here. I really liked the shot of your blue and orange gundam-thing's intro with the glowing blue fist. Bumblebee's also done really well, as are your Predators. Good stuff!

End of Souls: A nice little round up piece with the song everyone associates with SCV since you hear it every single time you fight. Personal touches at the end were rounded off with suitably modest caption.

Well, there you go. As was said, so was (eventually) done. All in all, a nice way of showcasing your stuff and it was interesting to be immersed in all of these creations.

I wish you the best but I have a sneaking suspicion you will come up with something else before long.

Wow, you dit watch all of them right (except 3P recollection but if you saw the pics of the last 3Ps in the previous few pages, you prolly haven't missed much of the new shots and CAS there).

Anyways, thanks a bunch for this in-depth review, i pretty much agree with all you said, pros and cons, and i really appreciate you taking the time to wrap all your impressions together and post it. A pleasure to read, really...

You don't get to stop behind my back. *cracks whip*

Ouch, don't whip me like that, it hurts (a weapon that could/should have been in SC5 ;o)

Dohoho you are back.
Well, since we all missed your wonderwords, you could start by writing about all the stuff you missed while on vacation (i guess) and me see what can do ;o)

Anyways, Nice to have you back around, is the move complete, has the BF come to its senses ?...Oooooh and congrats to GB for all the gold and a crazy good Olympics (that snip with Mr Bean in the opening was priceless)

I long for a whip that isn't also a sword. Mechanically though, it would be tough to do.

Maybe I can. Though it doesn't seem to be too much - Final Souls was nice, though I'm so sick of that music, always playing all the time. But not a bad choice at all!

Moving went very well, although drilling a huge hole in the wall in order to get the phoneline through might well void our contract... Oh well. =|;}D

Thx...

Not much ?...actually I was just pointing at the last 3P CAS you did not comment on (starting with Christopher Columbus) and maybe the 3P collection slideshow with all the 3Ps, including the last ones.
That was all there is to see, but you weren't around when i posted them...

I am waiting on Matty's HD pics of Columbus, but he has been busy, so i don't know if he will make my wish come true ;o)

Also you might wanna try the formula, or do an alternate like you did with Hildegaru...

Gosh, big "Oops" for the drilling incident...or was it just a drill ? ;o)

My thoughts exactly. Might as well say "I'm going on a hiatus, but I shall return."

Cool to read from you Pocky
Sarcasm or attempt to be cool to me again. I'd go for the latter.

But hey, why should I come back, since Matty and Gatsu are so OP ? ;o))

I just wanted to say again, i know you lurk, i know you covertly like my stuff, but to me this forum aint a CAS leaderboard...and art is a matter of taste and sensibilities, not about memorizing frame data & W/L ratio.
Notice i threw you the ball in the last shot of my End of Souls slideshow, but did you catch it, no...

The moment you posted the first comment i respected you, even paid tribute with vids and sketches and comics.
I respect your opinion too, even if i don't think it is either relevant, fair, nor nice considering the effort put into this thread. But again, sense and sensibilities.

In a nutshell, I'd rather have you come back here with your "Pocky Yoshi this" comments on the actual CAS (when was the last time ?)...the kind of witty lines i used to be so fond of, and i might just do that...come back i mean, some time...

Enough with the philosophical BS, and please accept my apologies for being rude or proud sometimes...being french ain't easy ;o)

Big Hug ! Vil

Just watched your last slideshow to this track, with the track and the name 'End of Souls' it sounded too sad :'(
You'll be missed, but your creations and their inspirations will stay forever.

"The legend will never die."

*salutes*
